Ask her, how much she would pay for a Louis Vuitton :D

I am really impressed what "fight" my comment on rotation speed started :) There is always something to improve whether wheel has CSW sticker or not. It would have been very long post if I had wrote down all the positive things found in the reviews :)

Can someone confirm he BMW wheelrim weight?
The new website IIRC states 1.5Kg, one review I think said 2.5kg.

Many Sparco/Momo/Omp rims are often around 1.3-1.6kg for 330mm - 350mm models.
A modified T500 RS or Elite with such rims will also be slower than original.

SimHQ stated it to weigh about 2170gr.
Sparco and other real racing wheels do not have shifter paddles, electronics, vibration motors, buttons, especially quick release etc on them, so they have to be lighter. I hope you meant that only bare wheels weigh that much. If not, ignore my post.

This website (http://m.neogaf.com/showthread.php?t=480531 I viewed this with my iPod so I don't know if this is a legitimate site) says 4.75 pounds which is a little over 2.15 Kg, and it says the F1 rim is 2.6 pounds which is about 1.18 Kg, I think the first unpacking video posted on here said 2.1 Kg but I couldn't find where he said that.

Yes but those are car racing rims. This is built like one but there should have been more adjustments to at least limit the amount of dampening and loss of responsiveness caused by the rim weight. For example using aluminum for the middle piece instead of steel. And using plastic for the outer rim. Yes I said the P word but after being covered with foam and alcantara would you know the difference. Well the weight would sure come down. //Obviously, the g25 and g27 have been very reliable with the same aluminum center outer plastic layout so the loss of durability is pretty much moot.

The weights in my review are the actual weights.

The weights in my review are the actual weights.

There are two weights listed on the Fanatec outer boxes.

One is gross weight, and the other is net weight.

Gross weight includes everything (Box, packaging, product, and bundled accessories).

Net weight only refers to the product itself.

Yes Im aware those wheels do not have such extras.
My point was actually in defence of the BMW rim as those rims with mods like wheel plates, wheel adapters, SLI lights etc will not be much different or lighter and very much will have similar effect to speed/rotation and reduced FFB sensation.

I would love to read someones comments on such a decked out Sparco/Momo/Omp style rim compared to the BMW rim and even then they will not have "rumble motors" or the other controls. That would be a good way to determine how good/bad the rim is. I understand the BMW rim has some disadvantages perhaps to the "formula Rim" but what do people expect and surely the whole point is using a wheel rim to suit the type of car being driven and the users own preference.

FYI I put my initial CSW video review (for the ISR forum) w/ lots of gameplay from latest build of pCARS in LogiForce's review thread. I touch on my impressions of the weight difference of the two rims and real-world effect (or lack there of.) Hope you guys enjoy.

Their is no Rumble motors inside a T500 rim. I took mine apart months ago trying to see if I could mod the original hub with a different rim. Its only got the circuit board for the buttons. All the FFB effect travel up from the base. I noticed no loss of effects at all. In any of the reviews for the csw I see people aren't using all of the available FFB so this can be increased when using the GT2 rim, as opposed the formula rim. Like you I see the the point of having the BMW GT2 rim, but can't understand what all the fuss is about in the difference between the two. Surely that's a plus lol you expect the formula rim to be more responsive.....And the settings can be adjusted depending on the user and wheel rim. I haven't heard anything to be concerned about and I'm counting the days until I get my hands on one. It will be interesting to see what the first lot of people that part with there money have to say once they get theirs..........."Best thing since sliced bread" lol

Yeah your right on that actually mate.
The CSR Elite rim "Rumble Motors" are the same as the CSP "Brake Rumble Motor". My guess is the BMW rim uses the same.

See below:

SRH are apparently looking at making a modification for "Elite" wheels to adapt proper car rims. £250 seems steep for the BMW rim but if people added up the cost of a SLI display, button box with rotary control and a typical quality rim in a Sparco/Momo etc it would likely cost similar or exceed the price of the BMW rim.

I like the option of having both possibilities with going the d.i.y mod route for the T500RS. It seems the CSW is blocking usage of "non Fanatec rims" but I think some Elite owners may be in a difficult choice to wait and mod their "elite" or wait for Fanatec's own wheel rim update. Then again do they sell the Elite and upgrade to the CSW. Already we have seen myself and some of the others guys migrating to the PC and I think a lot of that is to do with the "big boy toys" the PC can offer not available on consoles.

I really think this wheel/rim is "extreme hardcore for PS3 only" and few console only players will spend so much to obtain it.

I thought about the cost of the GT2 rim versus a modified d i y wheel rim before I bought mine and thought the same. If you add up the wheel, an adapter, button box/SLI display etc, the BMW rim seems good value to me lol Because some of those boxes and wheel rims can cost £150 each.
And I've been thinking more and more about PC sim racing myself. I just need a bit of convincing on graphics and games. IMO and just from what I've seen on you tube nothing touches GT5......LOL Wait for the back lash for that comment

PCARS is basically the only game that tops gt5 graphics. Too bad the physics and force feedback still need work.

Anyone notice how many of these reviews are being done by people without dedicated rigs. I don't understand the logic in selecting someone who isn't even in the target market for the wheel. Who the hell buys a $1000+ setup to stick it on a wheel stand it blows my mind. Thomas himself said it didn't include a table mount because he assumed you would attach it to your rig.

Yes. I thought they would have first made the physics work as they aim for realism. Assetto corsa is however doomed to have good physics thanks to Netkar guys working on the game.

Obviously the graphics are better. You're comparing a PC game to console game. There's still another year of development.

If you watch the video with the person who has it mounted to a wheel stand at the end of the video he has his logitech wheel mounted to a playseat evo. Also Thomas didnt pick the testers the fourm communities picked the testers and I dont think a dedicated rig was a requirement.

In a way it's even a good thing. It kind of seems unfair that only guys that have the 10k+ money to spend on cockpit to have a possibility to get the wheel early and to have it half the price, while others who earn very little have to pay full price and not be able to participate because they don't have many other wheels to compare it to and other cockpit stuff. But generally that's is the way in life, rich get richer and poor poorer.
