It would be nice if it came with a basic generic style wheel but oh well ;)
Already own the CSP so the upgrade from gt2 to this wont be as bad. Not good for my wallet but a little easier.

This may get expensive, dont tell my wife ;)

I assume you have a GT2 for Xbox purposes.

So you can't even put it up on eBay without screwing up your Xbox playtime.

Any news on the Xbox one? Pricewise.

Nope. Friend of mine was selling his after 2 weeks. He bought a real car. Dont own an xbox. Considered getting one cause they are dirt cheap now... but not to sure.

Well if you live in the US you should only have to pay $450 wheel base + $150 wheel rim + $200 CSP for sure because that's how it works for every other Fanatec product. You only pay like $22 extra for shipping

I'd like to know how much the CSR Elite is. That's supposed to be the one with the CSW Base, just with Xbox Compatibility right?

Not sure what other differences there are between CSR Elite and the CSW. Just missing that detachable rim feature alone is a major dagger. Kind of sucks that the Xbox continues to lag behind ps3/pc. Just a few months ago I would've never guessed Fanatec would also put their best tech on ps3/pc. Like Thomas explained he had no choice but I would've thought Microsoft would've worked harder to get the CSW on their platform.

To add further insult Thrustmaster ported one of their worst wheels to Xbox. It just seems like that platform still isn't being taken seriously beyond Fanatec products. And even still- unfortunately now even Fanatec is putting their best product on the ps3/pc.

You will get an excellent price on E-bay then mate.
The timing is excellent with Forza looming.

when he is demonstrating the force feedback strength and then comments sayings it "very very fast", to be honest it didnt look fast to me infact it looked slow compared to the t500, i know he only had it at 210 degrees or something so there wast much turn in the wheel to see but from the what you could it looked slow.

well after watching again the first time he lets the wheel go it did seem quick, but then got slower and slower however so was the car on the screen so i guess that was effecting it. will hold off judgement until i see the wheel spin in 900 degree mode

Yep your right, I just read a write up on the fanatec fansite. ( The one Sonac runs ).

Sounds pretty good.

I would imagine Thomas is trying to get his stock of GT2's out the door before announcing release dates and such.

First thing that popped into my mind too.

Hi Thomas and all @ Fanatec,

Awesome stuff on the CSW, great piece of kit. Looking forward to the actual release. You are right, one can never catch up with the tech. of these wheels. We can only buy what is affordable for oneself and available. :) I have no complaints on the price, great value for all that machining and mechanism.

Are there any difference in mechanism between the CSR Elite and CSW base? I have never played Forza but am keen to try FM4 and I would need a XB360 wheel. Still, the CSW with detachable wheel is too attractive to let go.

Any guys willing to share more information?

Cheers

Okay, I updated the OP to show all the information so far. (Summarized of course) If you want to know what we got so far, or if you haven't been following the thread, then it'll be worth your while.

Yeah it didn't seem as fast I must say to me either and I'm not certain if the ffb is stronger either. Too bad ISR is on Fanatec's payroll now (Darrin!). The only reliable source for comparisons like this now is these boards and iRacing pretty much once this wheel becomes available

I think Shaun and Jessica will be able to do hardware reviews, at least I hope so. They're the only one's I trust with my Simracing reviews.

You've done a great job maintaining this thread! Thanks

Your welcome! 👍

The base of CSR E and CSE is identical and I have more surprises to come.

Watch out for the next ISR episodes.

Wow. Pricey. And not fast. Why does it have a drift mode to increase the speed? Why isn't always that fast? Is it less accurate?

So to get wheel, fixed paddles, shifter and pedals you're looking at £750-£900. It makes the makes the street price of under £500 for the same (what would appear to be much faster spinning) T500RS setup seem like a bargain.

I'm really not interested in the F1 wheel either.

I think I'll wait for some like Latte to have impartial experience of both to see if it's a must have, but at the moment I'm not too excited about features I won't use as I don't race on PC

Hello Thomas!
The CSW is an amazing wheel!
As soon as we can pre-order I will do so..
Do you accept paypal payment..? Or credit card? :D
Little bit pricey.. 450 wheel base, 150 wheel rim, 150 (???) csr pedals which can be inverted and either the clubsport shifter for 100 euro or the TH8 RS for 150 euro.. And then I also want the GT style wheel rim.. Ouch, not cheap..

Do you plan to make a full package available with some discounts? I mean.. CSW wheel base + F1 rim + CSR Pedals with a discount of 50 euro or do we need to buy all parts alone.?

Thomas what we need is simple clarification:

The user that needs X360 support will have to buy the Elite?
Why does the Elite not have quick release, this kinda sucks and I'm sure some agree?
Can the elite wheel be adapted for these rims?

I don't want to have to buy a CSW to then not have X360 support. At the same time I'd like the quick release and wheel rim options.

Wouldn't it just be easier to have X360 support on the CSW for those that want the ultimate but also full support?

I think if I recall correctly that Thomas said the Xbox license is very specific: something about no buttons on the controller other than those standard approved Xbox buttons? So the F1 wheel w/ extra buttons, rotary controller and LEDs would violate this. Hopefully there is still some kind of solution though, since I'm with you on wanting it all! Maybe those can be just disabled (if M$ requires) when used w/ a 360?

I too would 'like it all'! Full compatibility (XBox, PS3 and PC) plus the quick-release wheel feature please! :)

I can see them wanting the option to keep cost down on the CSW by not having X360 support. However for the console player just wanting the best X360 wheel for FM4 then they buy the Elite without the additional cost of the Quick Release.

If they make the Elite that it just cant remove the FM4 wheel easily and isnt compatible with the new rims then thats killing further potential sales. If thats the case it sucks but Id expect the Elite wheel user will likely need to spend more on an additional adapter to make it Quick Release compatible for PC/PS3 games.

So maybe thats the way hes going about it?

My hands are itching already...
If the CSW is NOV-DEC then it looks like the CSR Elite will be OCTOBER for FM4, just a gut feeling (limited quanties) and the standard CSR will come later hence why its been getting less attention perhaps? This way it kinda forces people into buying the Elite or waiting longer.

+1

I'm definitely interested in the CSR Elite (for FM4) but would also like to have quick release feature of CSW for different rims since I use my wheel for PC and PS3 also.

The new Wheels look fantastic Thomas! I can't thank you enough for pioneering the R&D effort to give us the only high end wheels that include XBOX 360 compatibility!

Looks like I will be adding another Fanatec Wheel to my collection soon! 👍

I keep reading about the prices being high for these new Fanatec wheels and just want to share my thoughts on it.

These are no kids' toys so I guess their prices reflect that. When the first T500RS came out it's price was also over the moon. But at that money, there is not a better wheel and thats where the value is.

With the Fanatec CSR-Elite or CSW, it will be the same I believe. Kudos to Thomas and Fanatec employees for coming up with these wheels.

He has mentioned that there are surprises for the CSR-Elite. Hopefully it is something that goes around XBox360 compatibility for the CSW. Or to have changeable wheel rims for the CSR-Elite. Nonetheless, if the rim cannot be changed, so be it. To have a high end wheel for FM4 is already something one should be thankful for. Knowing Fanatec, I am sure it will be a constant evolution.

Looking forward to the ISR reviews.

Cheers

The Elite wheel stem has what seems a plastic cover and in two parts. The smaller looking collar part looks similar width to the "Quick Release" section (See blue highlight area). The CSW wheel stem on the inside seems to have contacts that are for the buttons allowing the wheel rim to be removed. "Hot Switching" when the wheel is powered and in game. It also has holes for the "Quick Release" to secure into.

The question is does the Elite use this "Hot Switching" feature and can the plastic cover of the "Elite" be removed to attach the other wheel rims and use the "Quick Release"?

Thomas also mentioned the new "GT" rim will be anounced in September so I reckon thats a good chance when we will get the proper info on release/cost and the full lowdown.
