I will definitely post a review of the V2 for you guys and compare and contrast to the stock V1. (Get this - I actually installed a set of stock motors in my wheel for the first time in about 2 years just to do that!) I have a whole bunch of "upskirt" (internal) V2 photos also. I'm not sure I'm going to review the mod vs. the V2. I wouldn't want to have people (gee, RXX anyone?) wondering if I was just biased, etc. What I may do, if he will agree, is invite Derickh over to race with both wheels back to back (after we testers are allowed to share) in a few different sims and give his own opinion. Don't forget also guys, that the V2 in my (and every other tester's) possession is only a beta version and may not be perfectly representative of the finished product.

A thing Fanatec does not lie about it is quality of materials. Ok the motors were the weak part of the wheel (but they bought them, not build them, and by the way FFB motors are used stress them a lot more that traditional use conditions). But everything else seams rock solid and allows moders to try a lot of things. Not sure it is possible to do the same with plastic wheels.

But for PC sim racers who put a lot of time into racing then saving your money for the accuforce is a far better option long term.

Accuforce FTW! Better in every way and no BS, sure it costs more but at least it will last longer than 1 - 5 years.

Well, AccuForce isn't out. Berney of course says that it will last you a lifetime and it is the best thing you'll ever see, but as long as no one has used it for 5+ years and can then still say it feels exactly the same as new, I'll take it with a grain of salt.
Still, you are correct. I will also go AccuForce route at some point. After owning CSW for just over two years, I feel I want more, it kind of feels numb. At least with Fanatec, you could still get to keep using your other hardware (CSP, CSS SQ, CS HB
 
The AccuForce wheel will no doubt be a wheel to consider for a lot of guys, but there are a lot of guys who will never be able to, or won't even want to spend that kind of money. I am still very much curious to see what Fanatec are able to produce as far as a direct drive wheel. For me at least, the electronics in the Fanatec wheel have been outstanding - and the V1 wheel has been able to handle considerably more beating/abuse in terms of overvolting than I would expect from a stock product. The weakest point in my opinion was the motors, and that has now been changed in the new model - conceivably, one could take the V2 and make their own direct drive wheel. What it will come down to now is FFB implementation and whose system reproduces the best effects with the most adjustability to fine tune those effects to the way each individual likes the feel. This is a historical strong point for Fanatec, having had the tuning menu in their wheels for quite some time, which allow quite interesting adjustments to the linearity response and feel of the wheel. This new development is very interesting all around.

Ive managed to ruin the thread in my csw base after continued use where the securing bolt for the rims screws in it no longer catches the thread so i can no longer torque the rim tight to avoid the play i get with the bmw rim was just wandering whether anyone has a solution i could try or am i doomed to rma it

Seriously?! Good God, should we take a poll of how many people have asked you questions that you either ignored or answered with such ridiculously evasive posts that they weren't even answers at all? Perfect example above. Instead of simply answering the guy's question you act all butt-hurt that he didn't ask you. Haven't you got the hint by now that people are fed up with your tripe?

You are a weird dude, and I think you maybe ought to see a mental health professional. Narcissism is something they may be able to help you with, but you need to admit you have a problem first.

You can fix this with a few different methods. Off the top of my head, you could have the collar welded and re-threaded, change to a slightly larger thread and use a similar but larger screw, or you could buy a new collar from Fanatec. Alternatively you could have the collar machined for an o-ring and install one like the setup on the V2.
 
Nice Ek, typical. Trouble is I measure stuff and have lots of real race experience. I do not check a forum and see what the consensus might be on a product, I figure it out on my own and have nothing for sale here unlike some. Am assisting a number of people in Nebraska *right now* for the ongoing SCCA PROsolo and Solo Nationals, data and car setup. Finding opportunities to improve course times for some alien drivers. I look at sim-wheels from the racer's perspective and am an active Engineer so I try things out. So when I measure and research something, the data and information is what it is, whether or not it might be anecdotally popular or not I don't care about that. I've run modded wheels for years now and can see what facets can help one find course time and add some fun. And like I have noted, I'm quite familiar with various stock and modded wheels and also some upcoming wheels. I don't share everything I have come up with but do post from time to time. One cool thing is that some of my V1 mods can also help the V2. No I won't be selling anything or posting here about such mods to any large degree.
 
Oh boy, another example. Talk about typical. How is any of that relevant to the question that the guy posted? Or to anything I posted? Oh, wait. I get it - you're so important and your expert skillz are in such demand you don't have time for us lowly noobs. Like even taking 1 minute to answer a guy who is asking a dirt simple question would take you away from your critical tasks for too long. Please, dude. You took what could have been a simple response helping someone out (and took all of one minute) and made it about yourself - in the process spending five times as long, at least.

As far as the rest of your last ramblingly ridiculous post, I'm not even sure what to say in response to that, it's so far OT to anything said or normally discussed here. I for one come to this forum to hang out with friends and sure, sometimes hear what they think about new products, and I also like to help others with issues. I am often told by people I would make a good teacher. You, on the other hand, seem to want to make yourself feel important.

I wouldn't call it a pissing match. This guy just likes to come make his snarky remarks for no good reason (except maybe to irritate me I guess). And if he's going to do that in public he's going to get a public response. If he had bothered to actually contribute to the thread that would have been fine, and wouldn't have drawn any response from me at all, unless I liked his idea, in which case I'd have said so.

So Eric you already have a V2 at home, fantastic news brother and I so hyped up to get the results from a side by side comparison I can hardy sit still here.. :)

To bring in a friend for testing is a great idea but really want your very personal view as well, I believe you can stay neutral to get a proper comparison free of biased views. Should the V2 have let´s say better details in the end of the day I´m sure we get to read exactly that on here, ohh also I hope you guys compare them in F1 2013 (2014?) as well cause that´s the one I drive the most hehe..
 
I think we won't be using any single Sim as a reference. I have GT, iRacing, F1 2013, Assetto Corsa, Race Room Experience, RF2 and a few others we can use for comparisons.

Derickh is scheduled to come by next Sunday to do some testing. I don't think that I will post a public review with my thoughts but you could PM any questions to myself or Derickh if you wanted to (after the reviews of the V2 are out for me, and after next Sunday for Derickh).
 
I am very happy that you have been chosen as one of the tester for a review on the V2 wheel. thinking about it, it makes total sense as I totally believe that Fanatec have taken into account your findings about the weakness of the V1 that you have worked so hard to try to correct with your mod.
It is only fair that you can report on the progress that I am sure have been made with the V2.
Looking forward to what you have to say about it.
 
Yes and I like the fact that instead of treating modding like a "black market thing", Fanatec uses it like a starting point to improve some aspects of their products. Actually a few years ago, I was bored with my profession so I was searching a lot what kind of job could bring back the motivation. Then I think about sim racing hardware, then I think about what you need to do it and the best way to do it. Then I realize that there was already someone doing that for sure better than what I am able to... And he is Thomas ;)

So I am still a game programmer, and I enjoy Fanatec toys AND the way they improve what is available on the market.
 
Well I for one am glad to get the votes of confidence from you guys, and glad that you trust that I will tell it to you straight. I think it says something about Fanatec also that they would select me to test their stuff - they clearly WANT to find any problems and aren't unwilling to do what they can to fix them. We only have a couple days before there will be a lot of new viewpoints available on the new wheel.
