Hello

How much did you guys pay?
I got mine for 970 Euros in one of the UK/EU auctions, plus the 350 voucher so I'm feeling rather chuffed....

A question for you DomB - Is there a way to reset my DD1 base back to factory defaults? I've only set up 2 of the 5 profiles so I know the other 3 are at their original, which I have noted down if for any reason I get totally lost. I only run 2 sims, AC & ACC, will ACC eventually run in PC as opposed to Comp mode?

I know this is early days so over time the community will drill down settings, etc etc...... but I had a strange occurrence in AC, after having switched modes to run ACC, went back to PC mode to play AC (both McLaren & Formula V2 rims) and lost all FFB in AC. Couldn't for the life of me worked out what was going on. I decided to try for the first time your settings for AC that you've posted in the Fanatec forum for AC/DD1/PC, opened the Fanatec driver to test both rims/base to see if FFB was functioning properly, everything was a.o.k - totally lost at this stage until I opened the FFB app in AC when I noticed this had set itself at 0... that's odd, not sure how that had happened as earlier I was running everything at default. I'm starting to waffle so I'll leave it at that but I got another day testing so I need to get to the bottom of what's happening..... Dom, any idea when you are going to release the Fanatec softwear?

There is ‘S_0’ setup that is locked to default settings.
Also, on further reading of the manual: Page 35,

7.1.2 Restore original Tuning Menu settings To restore the original Tuning Menu settings, open the Tuning Menu. SET 1 will be shown on the tuning display. Then press and hold the Tuning Menu button for about five seconds until RESET - Default Values is displayed on the ClubSport Steering Wheel Formula V2 and the OLED Display of the Podium Wheel Base DD1.

Looks like you've discovered how to reset the Tuning Menu :). The only reason to run ACC in COMP V2.5 mode is to get their current multi-position switch implementation to work. This is a work in progress (as with the rest of ACC), so it could change at any time.

As for the new software, we're not quite ready to launch, I can't give you an ETA but we're hard at work on that.

Update regarding my GTS issue. It seems to work fine now :) Not sure what it was, but yesterday I played offline due to an uninstalled update. That's the only change I can think of, but at least it seems to work now :) Only weird thing is that the game doesn't seem to handle both brake and gas simultaneously. If I as much as touch the brake while applying gas it cuts off instantly. Anyone else experience this? I think I'll consider that firmware update anyhow due to this. @DomB_Fanatec

Other than that, the wheel feels frickin' amazing! It definitely needs some tweaking to get it just right, but the detail, smoothness and strength is amazing. I can definitely get used to this :) And I love how I can adjust the FFB while ingame and test things out instantly, makes it so much easier to tune.

We paid 995 Euros, which you can still get it for if your order before May 7. After that the price will go up to 1199.

I'm tempted but since ps5 is around the corner I don't want it being incompatible with it. I guess it will probably have of a good chance of being compatible but I need some certainty.

So does this mean the ps4 dd wheel will have the peak and holding torque of the dd2?

No. The PS4 version and DD1 are electronically limited to produce no more than 20nm of torque.

The advantage is that it has a motor that is far more reliable than the one they initially intended to use but proved to be less than what they wanted.

@Lessen is correct, the current DD1 systems (Podium Wheel Base DD1 and Podium Racing Wheel F1) use a DD2 motor that is electronically limited. Holding torque is 15Nm and peak torque is 20Nm. Only the Podium Wheel Base DD2 takes full advantage of the DD2 motor (20Nm holding, 25Nm peak).

The recommended settings say it can be used in PC or Comp mode. I was running it in PC mode last night without any isues.
Strange, as when I have PC mode set, the DD1 is not picked up in game, while I have the 'Controls' menu open in ACC, switch the DD1 to comp mode I can then bind the rim, either my Macca or Formula V2 - CSP V3 peddles connected directly to the base.... am I missing something simple?

Thanks Dom, slowly getting there mate... I'm totally new to Fanatec gear, so with 2 rims, V3 peddles & a DD1 to suss out it's quite a steep learning curve....

Ex, Mech Engineer here (gas turbines) so I usually take a slow methodical approach to most things, probably get a tad over anal - but perfection is the end goal...…..

And, to say how pleased I am with the Podium DD1 would be vast understatement...… This is one stunning bit of kit.

Do you know whether this will reset all the setups, or just the one you're currently on?

I've not tried the nuclear option yet, but the way I read it is that it will return the base to it's factory defaults - Whether I've read it correctly or not that all 5 profiles are cleared..... Perhaps Dom can give us a clear definition if that is the case.

Yes with the braking ... And while LFB I usually accidental press in brake slightly

On GTS, I turned the FEI down to 60 and that reduced the vibration when turning sharp and hard (tire flex I think). Anything lower than 60 and you cant feel the Kerbs hardly. Fanatec recommended setting is 70.

Very weird that this is happening. Not that it's a huge problem, but there are certain situations where it can help to apply some brake while also using throttle. For the most part I just have to get used to not touching the brake at all before actually using it. I learned today that I start to touch the brake slightly a few moments before actually pressing it.

So it looks like Fanatec suggests 40 for the FFB setting on the DD1 for the F1 franchise. I assume this means 40% of max torque. This feels quite strong to me - essentially perfect resistance. Is there any reason why you would need to experience more torque than this unless you’re trying to get a forearm workout?

Righ . Im at 35.

Imho no!!!!…. I'm using an app in AC which has a direct drive in game setting, I've got my F1 cars at 10 Nm (RSS 2019 F1 Hybrid @ the mo), plenty enough for me.... 30 laps of Suzuka using the Formula V2 rim gives you a good work-out ;)…. The Macca rim for GT3 cars I've set @ 12Nm....

Really great to have everything set up. I think the last thing I need is a swing arm that clamps to my desk and swings the monitor directly over the wheel but overall loving the RSeat/DD1 combination.... looking forward to posting a youtube review once I get some more experience with the wheelbase... loving it so far.

Hi, this is my first fanatec product and I am stumbling around a bit trying to get it to work . When I don't have the wheel rim attached the fanatec property page shows the dd1 as a controller but when I attach the rim then nothing shows up in the controllers section so I cannot go to the properties page, anyone have any ideas?

mine shows the base twice. nothing on the wheel. a few pages back on the fourm here it shows a vid on how to attach the wheel. i wasnt getting it on far enough. then the thing that stumped me was the 2.5 compatible mode. just keep pressing that button and y and you should get it.

youve removed all other software thats for other controllers?
youve done the drivers right. and updated the firmware

This is a joke question, but I am still going to ask. Can I pay you more money to unlock the max torque values on the Podium Racing Wheel I just ordered? :P (but no seriously? maybe? eh? eh?) haha.

I would imagine the DD2 has different electronics to accommodate the power needed to hit those peak and holding torque levels right?

And another question since I put in an order for a Podium Racing Wheel. Is anyone interested in the blue F1 wheel it ships with? I just really don't like the blue grips and knobs. I would gladly trade for the 2018 yellow version of the wheel.

Or maybe I should just wait until Fanatec puts out a proper one that is just all blacked out? Waiting for one that actually looks like it came out of a race car and not a toy race car.. The McLaren GT3 looks amazing please make one closer to that look someday.

Just mounted my DD1! Super excited to try it out. However when I went to go update the firmware it said that I would be downgrading and that my installed firmware is newer than the one that would be flashed. Should I still do it? I also don't have the FEI option in my settings which is strange.

Thanks for the prompt reply, I sorted it out. I had the USB plugged into a USB hub and for some reason when just the wheelbase going it was detected but when I added the rim it wasn't. I plugged directly into PC and updated all firmware then plugged back into hub and now all is good. Cheers
