Driving 105mph in a Mazda Tribute/Ford Excape is suicide. :sly: I've done dealer trades in Escapes and they are scary in a crosswind and or over 85mph. :nervous:

Ya, that scared me quite a bit. My dad's quiet the aggressive driver. If he gets anything faster he'll kill us both....I swear, a few years back he wanted to get a Mustang GT, the mear thought of him driving the mustang the way he drives a tribute just scares me....

Holy schizmit! Are you serious? And I thought I was fast on my Schwinn 12-speed, blowing off cars at 45 mph on Northern Blvd!

A right angle at 60 mph?! Ive done it at maybe 30 on a regular road, but never at more! And it was @#$@ing scary!!
I hope you were wearing a helmet!
Yes, i was wearing a helmet. I refuse to ride any bike without one. And my friend took the sharp right turn at 60, not me.:sly:

Oh, you seem to be making a ludicrous claim. Do you have any proof to back up your statement?

I went 25 knots as the captain of the Good Ship Lollipop.

I've done about 130 km/h in my dads Mitsubishi Galant. It felt pretty fast, but when I read some of the speeds you guys have been up to, I feel like a wus. :D

Oh well, at least I didn't break the law as much as some of you. :P

Dad was driving at 150kph when a scania ~10T body truck passed him, dual axel. He followed him for a bit but the truck was doing 170kph or so (1 way each way highway) so dad backed off a bit and let him go. It was a news paper delivery truck in the early hours of the morning. Crazy

btw since dad made a few of these tips because of buisness he saw them fairly often. Always doing 160+.

I also topped out a Yamaha Waverunner at Pataya Beach in Thailand, so maybe about 50 mph. I know i got big air off a wave. 👍

If you're going to lie, at least make it plausible. :dunce:

Hehe... I love living in a country where most speed limits (where there actually are posted limits... most roads don't have them) are implied rather than enforced.

About the only people who regularly get in trouble here are the Porsche club guys who insist on doing over 260 km/h on the highway.

130 km/h? That's how fast I take turns.

Last time I was on the North Expressway in my 85 hp passenger truck, we were doing 140 km/h (it's an exceptionally smooth and grippy road) and we had other equally pathetic trucks (drum brakes, no ABS, airbags or even crash structures) passing us... belching black smoke all the way.

I was goindown 95 the other day...In my Grand-Am, disconnected the speedo, to stop the governor from kicking in at 108mph... topped 5th out at 6500rpm... since 3000rpm is 78, 65 in 5th should be about 169mph... not bad for a 4-banger with 150hp, eh?
GRAND-AMS RULE!!!

I'm sorry, 170mph? From 150hp (when new 150hp, surely less by now).....

I recently discovered that my 180km/h (110mph) run in my '96 Escort is its top speed.

:grumpy:

I wondered why it wasn't going anywhere, it was just noise.

220 km/h with my dad in his '92 Subaru Legacy in Germany.

Yep, it's got a '98 Legacy engine :mischievous:

Otherwise, it would be the Ferrari F50 I sat in lapping at Spa (offcourse, it was not me driving the F50 but a pro racer :grumpy: )

Somekind of festival at Spa every year 👍

I'm going to take issue with this as an exercise, the 150hp your claim would put you somewhere here:

Engines
1988-1989 2.3 L Quad-4 I4 150 hp
1992-1993 SOHC 2.3 L I4, 115 hp
1992-1993 DOHC 2.3 L I4, 160 hp
1992-1993 2.3 L 16-valve High Output Quad-4, 175 hp (130 kW) at 6200 rpm and 155 ft·lbf (210 N·m)at 5200 rpm
1992-1993 3.3 L V6, 160 hp (119 kW)
1994 SOHC 2.3 L I4, 120 hp (89 kW)
1994 DOHC 2.3 L I4, 155 hp (116 kW)
1994 2.3 L 16-valve High Output Quad-4, 175 hp (130 kW) at 6200 rpm and 155 ft·lbf (210 N·m) at 175 hp
1994-1998 3.1 L V6, 155 hp (116 kW)
1995 DOHC 2.3 L 150 hp (112 kW) 155 ft·lbf (210 N·m)
1996-1998 (1999?) DOHC 2.4 L I4, 150 hp (112 kW)

According to the car connection about the 1999 150hp model:

http://www.thecarconnection.com/Veh...d_Coupes/1999_Pontiac_Grand_Am.S180.A948.html

The lack of a manual transmission is just the first of a number of annoying performance contradictions on this car. The tachometer is redlined at 6200 rpm, but the fuel shuts off at 5900 rpm, and the automatic shifts 100 rpm before that. A 150-mph speedometer and V-rated tires, for example, suggest an unrestricted top speed, but a speed governor cuts off the fun at 126 mph.

Oh and by the way to completely discombobulate your post, you can unplug your "speedometer" all you want, the ECU for which the governor lies reads it's data from the engine/transmission and not from the instrument cluster. If this was a joke you didn't bother using a smilee to signify that. :sly: <--

Seems you missed about 4 variations of the wonderful QUAD-4 engine.

And if you disconnect the speedo cable, from the transaxle, guess what? your ECU has a default speed reading of ZERO.
please don't tell me about my car, tell me about car's I don't know everything about:sly:

and 10 points to Encyclopedia! he's the winner, and the only one who guessed it was a joke! it was on lap 72, following the other crash.

Oh raghaven:tdown: i hope that was a joke
