145 mph. Car maxes out at that speed. (IS300)

I think the car maxes out at 142 mph, but I was going downhill, with a tailwind that was created by a MB 600.

I did 240950187016987401986789 mph on my bike this afternoon!!!
Make that... 24.0276897190874515...:(
But I have gone 130 in a BMW 325i convertible with the top down!

325 what?:sly:

For my 330, I've probably only topped it out at 80 on the freeway, before I realised how fast I was going and returned to 55.

I said 325i convertible.
1985, black, totally stock except for stock bmw replacement parts. And ugly blue side marker. Why my dad did that I dont know. When I saw it I almost killed him.

I know a 95 eclipse can't top 100 with the top down....

MPH. Yes it can.
But oops, I meant top up.
It has hit 90 with top down tho. Frekng scary!

That pic of the Mustang GT convertable of me going over 100mph was with the top down. Talk about some serious wind. :sly:

Be happy that you got a ride in an F50! :D:tup:

Well it was freakin' fast, when I got out I saw my body shape in the seat

Fastest I've gone myself would be 90 km/h

I ain't got a drivers license you know :D

my car can't top 110 - it has a speed governor, and I'm to lazy to install a cut-out switch... but it could, very easily.
81? what, a 250?

110 mph ish. I dunno, the speedo only read upto 180 kays (Japanese import), but it was off the scale, bonus points for that, right?
In a '92 Subaru Legacy GT. Pretty stock, except exhaust/CAI. 200 hp standard.
And this was on the back straight at Pukekohe raceway, just before I found out stock brakes+crap tyres+hairpin at the end of long straightway=not good. Kept it on the track though.

I was goindown 95 the other day...In my Grand-Am, disconnected the speedo, to stop the governor from kicking in at 108mph... topped 5th out at 6500rpm... since 3000rpm is 78, 65 in 5th should be about 169mph... not bad for a 4-banger with 150hp, eh?
GRAND-AMS RULE!!!

Better get that clutch fixed... (late reaction, I know, but I just had to say it.)

I just did my best top speed in a diesel... pegged a new Toyota SUV at 100mph / 160km/h (limiter at 109 / 180)... would've bounced it off the speed limiter if I could, but I didn't have the space or the time, and was too busy recording 0-62 times. Wonderful stump-puller of an engine, that 3.0 turbodiesel, should do about 130-140 mph on better tires with the limiter cut out.

Oh, personal best still stands at 130 mph in my Protege.

205 km/h in my 2001 NIssan Sentra SE
193 Km/h in my 1990 Dodge Shadow 2.5
167 km/h in my 1987 NIssan King Cab
175 km/h in my 1989 Mercury Topaz

I got to 90 today on the interstate while tryin to catch up to my dad after gettin boxed in behind a retard goin 45 mph when the speed limit is 65 mph.

Update (today) 2006 Ford F150 King Ranch:

I had it floored for over 15 seconds and the speed just didn't get to 100. The fuel didn't shut off nor did hit the rev limiter...maybe it's DRAG limited? Can't be...

You want to know what's really weird...the fact that I got over 20mpg with this thing's cruise control set at 81~82mph. I got a pic of it if anyone's interested to see it.

'88 T-Bird Turbo Coupe = speedo buried... approx. 95-100mph
'88 Volvo 740 Turbo = indicated 105mph (likely a few mph less, different tire size)
'94 Ford Taurus SHO (recently acquired) = 90mph... can't/won't go faster (sustained) until I get new tires... (probably this weekend)

I hit an indicated 110 MPH in my '96 Jetta on my old H-Rated Continentals last June, but on the new set of R-Rated radials (which I hate more than anything), the best I have done thus far was an indicated 105 MPH on M-6 last Saturday.

Its fun to go fast in any car, but when you start getting above 100 MPH in my Jetta, things aren't too comfortable. I think higher quality highways and better tires might change things, but I live in Michigan, so that won't happen any time soon...

-----

Fastest speed ever? I was doing an indicated 130 MPH pass in an '87 Porsche Carrera 3.2 Cabrio about two years ago, but I wouldn't dare to go any faster, as I was within about a mile or so of the County Police department.

My Dad went 120 on the motorway today in his BMW 3 Series Compact (new version)

@JCE3000GT: Chances are, you hit the "invisible limiter" in your truck, something that Ford loves to install on their vehicles. The new Shelby GT500 for instance has this "invisible limiter" that stops it's progress at 155 MPH, but mathematically speaking, the car should be able to run up to about 170 MPH given it's powerband and gear setups.

...Our GMT800 trucks my family owns are all limited to less than 100 MPH, and the best I have been able to muster (ever) in one was my Grandfather's 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe headed north to Traverse City at 99 MPH on the limiter.

COOLEST STORY SO FAR:My Dad's friend Bought a Brand new 1969 Mustang Mach 1 428 Cobra Jet when he got back from 'Nam, he'd been saving his money up when he was over there. My Dad was ridin with him, and the got the speedo needle back to ZERO! those got to 160, so they were going between 180-200 by my judgement. They stoopped when the front end started lifting up and the hood looked like it was going to fly off. The guy raced it all the time, the only car he couldnt beat was a modded 69 GTO.  :D :D

I can't help but laugh at that stupid fake comment

Well, that was back in the days when GTP when the moderator test was an oral exam only. The written and driving portion of the test was simply ignored.

I swear I've answered this question before, but maybe it was another thread. I did 138 mph in my Eagle Talon once, in 1994, but I've not approached those speeds in many years. I haven't gone over 100 mph in over 10 years now; even then, it's only the the emptiest of multiple-lane roads.
