One of these days I'll have to find out if the factory speed limiter of 110 MPH in my '99 Ford Taurus (Vulcan V6) is true or not. :sly: ;)

143mph in my dad's Vauxhall Vectra 2.0l, i was riding in the passenger seat, i nearly crapped myself, we were racing a Mitsubishi Galant 2.0l. he had the ecu modified with a superchip (+10-20bhp) 100% true.

170+ MPH

in my old GTO

for some reason that pic makes me laugh. It might be the turbo boost guage that is all the way in the red. :)

Yeah, but that's usually where it was when it was about to upshift. I think the car could've done an indicated 140, but I was too scared to try it. Did 100+ on every interstate in Colorado, though.

270km/h which is 167.7mph in my dad's friend's M3. I swear it doesnt feel that fast in his car.

I was supprised it did that because i thought all bmw's were electronically limited to 155mph

I gone jus over 100 in my Del Sol. I don't know where the limiter is, but I'd bet my top speed is red-line limited without a governor. Maybe 130 or so?

limited to 155 in 6th i believe, if you shift down to 5th you can crank that thing up to 180mph :) dont you just love the guys at bmw :P

The fastest I've ever driven is a 130ish mph in a Caterham 7.

I just looked at the poll results.

I think the average age of forum members is around the age you can get a driving licence. However, the majority of voters have claimed to have gone faster than 140mph.

I smell bovine feaces.

At 32.5%, hardly a majority - more of a plurality. The vast majority have gone slower than that.

My previous vote is invalid now that my car is better.

The Impreza tops out officially at 130 mph aprox (I forget the exact figures)...I have done 125 mph. Which is very scary in that car, the front end takes on a mind of it's own....even at 90 mph a lot of correcting is needed. The Civic was better at speed to be frank.

I've been a passenger for well over 120 ....probably around 150 mph, the speedo was literally pinned...

152 riding my motorcycle on I-76 heading out of denver. It really isn't that unsual to see triple digits here in Colorado. I second your statement:D

Definitely. I've been on every highway in Colorado at this point, after having completed a roadtrip last summer to visit every single county, and there are a few stretches that are so desperately lonely it's scary. The worst is US-40 from Dinosaur to Craig. I did those 82 miles in 58 minutes, and that was in my mom's 2003 Mazda Tribute. Leaving Dinosaur there was a sign that said "NO GAS - 80 MILES." I took that to mean "NO COPS - 80 MILES" and drove accordingly.

mmm...highway 550 from durango to montrose! thats pure heaven on earth!

my Mum's been over 130km/hr, not sure if it's under or over 80mph but i'll vote when i find it out

isn't this thread discussion of illegal activity?

Is it? It could have been done at track days, or on a private road.

130km/h = 80.7mph, but as you weren't driving, its not eligible.

Famine touxched up on this earlier in the thread, he said unless otherwise stated we can only assume where you did it at, so we can assume it was done somewhere where your allowed to like on a track day, the autobahn, private land ect. If you come here bragging about how you wen't 140mph down the M1 then that's a discussion of illegal activity.

Yeah... it's really nice, particularly from Ouray, my favorite Colorado town, to Silverton, but Trail Ridge through Rocky Mountain National Park from Grand Lake to Estes Park is my favorite road in Colorado, and on Earth. Second-favorite is CO-82 from Twin Lakes to Aspen ("Independence Pass"), then the aforementioned Million-Dollar Highway from Durango to Ridgway.

I just wish I had a car decent enough to make these roads as fun as they really can be!

Well i cant drive yet but on the way back from our family holdiday to the Nurburgring we came across some de restricted auto ban.

My dad has a track day prepered M3 CSL and at the time no one new the top speed of the car only the 0-62 and that sorta stuff.

So My dad stopped, looked at the map found a long, de restricted bit and went for it. He timed it so he could get a proper reading (the speedo stops at 180 mph) Distance divided by time is the equation for speed.

so yer found a quite bit and put the foot to the floor basically with the whole famliy in and luggagein the back on the carboard boot lol.

We hit 191.12 MPH and the car felt reasonably good. just felt like doin a normal 155 but obviously a bit quicker. Its got 6 pot AP racing breaks so its pretty damn good when it comes to slowing down, so all safe and legal.and FUN:)

About 145 in my Supra. Wish I had the space to take it past 200.
Edit, yeah the stock tranny will get there.

You're forgetting that the poll is... how many years old?

I voted more than two years ago, before I got my liscense (which I've had for a year and a half).

Time to reset the poll, perhaps?

Myself
Approximately 190 KPH/ 120 MPH back in December on a bright, sunny, dry day on a multi-lane highway with no traffic ahead (Read: Very good condtions, save for the whole public road thing). I'm sure that it's capable of much more, but I haven't got the space, the courage, or the stupidity to do so where I live. I will also state that I did this run about 150 KM from where I live, and the roads and traffic are completely different.

Edit - The top speed of my car is apparently in the area of 140 MPH, in stock condition.

Keepin' it legal at 65 :nervous: No need to push an injured Dodge Grand Caravan any harder than you have to (side door isn't exactly closed.... :scared: )

You know I even searched for a thread on 'highest top speed' and found nothing but threads dedicated to the game.

Anyway, I went 123mph in my Probe GT yesterday.

135 mph in a 20 year old mercedes, my girlfreinds 240D might do 90 down a hill with a tail wind... might
