geez you must be rich as considering it said how fast in YOUR car!!! so gimme a few details on this, coz my mate has the exact same car and has a vid of it bouncin the needle on the tacho at 164MPH.....you must have a few mods huh?

personally i've got to 240km/h(140ishMPH) in my '99 ITR pretty much maxxing out, but i have been 270km/h(167MPH) in a BMW 330ci, me driving....YEEEHHHAHH!!!! Damn things start to go by reeaallyyy fast at that speed

I had the soft top down too :D

nah it's a copy of the bomex(pretty sure thats the one, but it was made at an aussie shop....it was the prototype for the company so i only paid 600AUD for it so it was a bargain

nice pic 318...is that in your car? you took the pic or someone else?if it was you you're pretty crazy...MAN beemer's sure have awesome top speed...i thought i was doin 240 in the 330ci but i didn't take the time to look as i said things start to move really fast at around 250km/h don't they....

yup my car :) , I didn't take the pic though :D

150mph in my '05 Tiburon drivin 500 miles across the the state, and got really bored. Fun got cut short by a cop :guilty: $160 fine for goin 90mph <showes what he knew>:sly:

For 3 different cars:

Current '95 Probe GT (2.5 V6 24-valve), 125 MPH, but at night with the lights up. Probably good for another 10 or 15 with the lights retracted.

Previous car, '90 Probe GT (2.2 turbo 4), buried the 120 speedo, but figuring from tach, about 137.

Previous to that, '87 Cavalier Z24 (2.8 V6 autocrosser) ECM limited to 113. When I hit that and the engine died, I thought I'd broken it. I looked up in the mirror to see if parts were falling out. Then it came back on when it coasted down to 110.

And lastly, my first NEW car, an '85 Fiero GT (2.8 V6), about 125, also figured from the tach. Buried the 85 MPH speedo. What made this fun was the speedo was an electronically driven needle with no pegs to limit its travel, and it had circled all the way around to 0, at which point the electronics said, "Hey, it's reading too low, run it up to the right speed," and the speedo starting just spinning around the dial! I had to back out of it because I was laughing so hard my eyes watered.

Edit: That's 4 cars, innit?

Damn I didn't know that the Cavalier ever came with a v6 but I've had many people say they thought they broke a GM car when the limiter kicked in because its so sudden. My mechanics 300cd does the exact same thing as the Fiero since he has a 85 mph speedo with a turbo diesel 123. His is the only on that I have ever seen that didn't have pegs at the end ...

Roughly, or near-exactly 100mph in a 3-tonne 2002 Ford F-250 XLT 7.3l Turbo Diesel Crew Cab. It's tough-going in a vehicle like this.

How much HP has that thing got? 7.3 TDi must do about 135-140 even when it's tugging 3 tonnes.

Finally ran my 180SX up to the limiter. Even in 5th gear acceleration is good and it certainly has a lot left when it goes off the clock and limits at what I'd guess is about 190kph.

VX SS right? Not bad, though I much prefer the LS2.;)

:) im pretty close to ls2 spec
227 rwkw is about 280 at the motor, cant quite remember torque figures for the ls2 but i think i have a bit more

bring on a cam i say! i want 280 at the wheels

Ive been 135mph in my uncles 3.0TDI A4 Cabrio (and it wasn't on a straight road!)

About 110 in the Grand Am GT. It had just shifted into fourth and you could tell it was back in the torque curve. The highway was completely empty and straight, I slowed back to legal speeds when I saw cars way ahead. Only time I've broke 100mph.

Speedometer speed or real speed?

156mph on the speedometer on the German highway.

my mate went about 97 mph in a Rover 100 with me in it
Stock? (But who on earth would 'tune' one....)

Cause if that's even possible it would take alot, and I mean alot of empty straight road to do that in a Rover 100.

Indicated speed is always higher than real speed. Speedometers can be out by up to %10, which means real speed was probably about 87mph.

*bump*

Sorry for the thread revival, but I just hit an indicated 112 MPH in my '99 Ford Taurus. (electronically limited) :sly:  As soon as I felt the limiter kick in, I immediately started slowing back down to legal speeds.

Now that I have my permit my top speed (so far) is......75mph!!!:) lol
I have been over 130mph in a police crusier riding shotgun for my careers class. We were trying to catch up to someone.

would that have been the old vulcan v6? or the newer twin cam engine, I had a 99 or 2000 (can't remember) up to 120 which was where the speedo ended on that car
