how loud i was coming out of it, biggles u were there how was it? I was tring to ask how the 250 was to drive but you couldnt hear me i dont think.

I can't remember for sure, but I don't think I heard that...

Results from jjaisli - GTP_Hun Challenge:

Mugello - jjaisli
Spa - jjaisli
Infineon - GTP_Hun
Redwood Park - jjaisli
Mont Tremblant - jjaisli
Silvertone - jjaisli
Virginia - GTP_Hun

Impressive driving and consistency, jj, congratulations! 👍

OK, before I get left in the dust here, I challenge GTP_Hun:

car:
250 LM
250 Testa Rossa
365 GTB

Tracks:
Mugello
Spa
Infineon
Redwood Park
Mount Tremblant

Had a great 90 minutes racing GTP_Hun tonight. I just have to mention that I'm currently in GMT-5, he's in GMT 0, and we didn't start until an hour later than planned. I was ready to fall asleep by the end and I'm 5 hours behind him. I don't know how the guy does it. I just don't think he sleeps. ;)

Final results were:
Mugello, Spa, Redwood Park, Mount Tremblant & Silverstone (wet) to jjaisli
Infineon & Virginia to GTP_Hun
5:2

Silverstone and Virginia were both pretty close with multiple lead changes. In every other race, a small mistake by one of us left the other with a lead that was unassailable in a 5 minute race.

I think we both had a great time racing the 250 LM. It's a beast of a car, especially with no assists and in the wet--a true challenge just to keep it on the track. But I'd like to encourage others to race some of the classic cars. It really adds a new dimension to the challenge.

I'm also pleased to say that I managed to hit the number one time at Redwood Park. :D:cool: But considering there are a total of 12 people on the leaderboard for that car and track combination, I suppose it wasn't such an impressive accomplishment.

Thanks for a great time. 👍

Good one matey soon we can race! Sounds like you had fun, i love hitting fastest lap.

Recently i got the No.1 Time Trial record for the 550M at Spa! Pretty pleased with that. Also some good positions on a couple tracks with the 365gtb. It adds yet another dimension to the game!

Result posted.

The vintage cars are really fun to drive. I particularly like the Testa Rossa because it feels like you can give a Fangio-like wave to your opponent as you cruise by. They feel quite different from the more modern cars & really show off FC's physics & FFB. With plenty of practice, I think t will be possible to get much faster in these cars & have some really close & intense races.

It's absolutely critical in these ladder races to stay on the track at all times, & pressure your opponent into making some kind of error. It's great - just like real racing! 👍

jjaisli is being very kind, I guess that's because I tried to be graceful in defeat and didn't call him names

The fact is he drove very well, and with a consistency I couldn't really match.

PS- I do sleep, not much, but I do, believe me :D

i have a go at GTP_ENERGIYA if he is up for it.
cars:360-430gt2-550maranello
tracks:california-redwood park-misano(wet)-mont tremblanc

Hereward, did anyone reply to your challenges? If they didn't, and you are available ... err :D ... I mean, if you have no challenge pending, I challenge you.

Cars: 512M, 512S and ... (quoting Monty Python) for something completely different ... 348 TB

Monza
Silverstone
Misano
Hockenheim

nope no one wants to race me......I think there all running scared (subtle attempt to get a race out of them LOL) I'll happily give you a race add spa and mugello to the tracks and the 512 S will do, I'm around for the next few hours and again later this eveining just let us know whens best.

LOL! You beat me too it. If you win, I'll be seeing you again. :mischievous: Otherwise, Hereward, I'm right behind him. :)

Good luck to both.

@ Hereward: I only get to my PS3 a bit late, and probably won't be able to make it tonight. What night time suits you best?

EDIT: jj, considering my "mistakes-per-lap" ratio, most probably Hereward will keep is ranking. We'll see. Anyway, I think GTNheider is within your reach, and without any pending challenge.

Yeah challenged him twice with no replie as yet, not sure if there should be a rule about challenges going un awnsered for 1 or 2 weeks then you win by default?

@ GTP_Hun: I really think you were just having an off night. In most of our random, friendly matches you've generally proved to be a bit quicker. And indeed, last night (with 1-2 exceptions) our fastest laps were pretty similar. Coming to terms with the different tracks and the braking points and handling characteristics of the different cars has been a challenge for me. In both 'test sessions' silly mistakes costs me dearly. But I think I'm slowly coming to grips with most circuits.

I must say I was a bit surprised that I seemed 'on the pace' with the classic cars. The other day when we drove the 365/GTB, it was the first time I drove that car since unlocking it two months ago. I love it.

@ Hereward: Let me know what happens with GTNheider and if he accepts or declines. From various messages he seemed a bit put off after the last test session. Perhaps he's given up on this group.

Hereward: you need to add a 7th track (to avoid the possibility of a tie).

RS & myself ran a bunch of tracks in the Testa Rossa last night. Great fun. Once everyone gets used to the car it's possible to have really close, tight races. Everything feels like it's in slow motion compared to the frantic pace of the faster cars, but it takes just as much skill to drive the car successfully at its limits. It's all about keeping the tires rolling & conserving momentum. RS & I both lapped another driver at Mugello. :D

The 250 LM seems a much harder car to control: has bags more power, but the same crappy, skinny tires...

The TR does seem a bit better balanced. The 250 LM seems to go from understeer to oversteer in an instant. It's treacherous. If I had the chance to drive one IRL I think I'd pass. The funny thing with that car is sometimes you 'know' you've lost it a good 2-3 seconds before it happens but because it takes so long for the weight to transfer there's not much you can do about it. So I know what you mean about slow motion.

Edit: Before GTP_Hun was on-line I opened up a public lobby with that car to get some practice in. I even invited a few people on my list. I had the lobby open for nearly 40 minutes and not ONE taker! Cowards! LOL!

We need to start a new event:

the FCCCCC

(the Ferrari Challenge Classic Car Collectors Cup).

RS & I both lapped another driver at Mugello. :D

I did feel a bit sorry for him. Pitty the cars dont have horns, could of give a little peep as we went by lol.
Fair play to him though, he didnt quit like most would of done.

If you guys check the opening post of the "online coming alive" thread, you'll see/remember that Biggles lapped me at Virginia Raceway when I was coming back to FC after a few months away.

I also didn't quit, never do. Maybe this guy also keeps on playing and becomes a serious race contender in a few weeks, or even days 👍

Love the 250, I had some seriously good close racing in the testerosa, because of the slow cornering speeds it makes strategic overtaking a little easier, I race the slower classes on Forza 2 for the same reason and also on GT5p. 8 billion horse power is great but like F1 it can get procesional with overtaking far less common and far more hazardous LOL

I can never understand why people quit. If they're not doing too well, only one thing is required:

more practice!

If you go into "Rankings" on the Leaderboards, you can see how much time in total each player has put into the game. There is a very obvious correlation between those times & the online performance of the players - for example I haven't noticed anyone with more time in the game than SEGEL.

(BTW: I also noticed that jjaisli & myself are next to each other at #77 & #78 in the Tutorial ranking out of over 17,000 rankings. :))

I did that on purpose just to tick you off! ;)

The 'rankings' are really bunk. I tried and tried and I think I was hovering around 500 something. A score I was quite proud of at the time. But once I had my 3 year old on my lap and we were 'driving' together. (I was driving but she was holding onto the steering wheel too). I was just feathering the gas pedal and driving very slowly and making a real effort to stay on the racing line so she could see and understand what I was doing. And wham, suddenly I'm top 100!

I haven't tried in a long time but if I really made an effort to drive quickly I doubt I could repeat that score.

Edit: But it IS ironic that we are right next to each other out of >17,000 people

Well, most people obviously haven't spent much time on the Tutorial. It's particularly annoying that Tiff Needell's comments don't seem to particularly correspond to what the car is actually doing - he's forever telling you that your braking is good, & to get back on the throttle. Driving slow is probably the easiest way to get a higher score, but doesn't have much to do with actual racing.

That's true, my best score (can't remember what it is and I have no clue where it's ranked) was achieved in a tutorial where my fastest lap was 2 full seconds slower than the previous best score I had.

I would be up for that i'm just having trouble unlocking the damn 250's.....

loving the 365gtb though.

Let's try & co-ordinate an FCCCC event this weekend. I notice Graffen's been posting some serious times in the 250 LM. Personally, I don't have the GTO, so I'm not sure what that's like. IMO the Testa Rossa is a lot easier to drive than the 250 LM. The 250 LM really is very tricky to handle requiring a VERY light foot on the throttle...

Try and unlock the GTO if you can. It's probably a lack of imagination for me to put it in these terms but in performance and handling it's sort of a cross between the TR and the LM. And performance wise it slots in between them.

I'd love to run an FCCCC event. Unfortunately I'll be having guests over both days this weekend and won't be able to attend the first one. Ironically, they're both eager to race so if you see me logged on I'll likely be racing off-line.
