February 14 Bounty Hunter - Alan Hartman

Lame? Outrageous is the word you're looking for.

I'd agree if these exclusive reward cars were DLC like the MG currently up for grabs. FH3 always got that right. Keep in mind that there are many casual players out there buying the game as we speak, and these people have no chance of knowing they are too late to collect a handful of popular cars. As for all the casual players who got the game at launch, there's really no reason why Turn 10 couldn't have sent out in-game messages every time the bounties went live. Rewarding the most attentive community members with cars everyone should have access to is so pointless. Those who manage to obtain the exclusive reward cars are often confused by the sheer randomness and those who miss out are left pissed off. Turn 10 aren't exactly doing themselves any long-term favors utilizing this flawed strategy.

Granted I will say they should have made a way to win the locked car offline, that doesn’t change the fact the game has been heavily online since FM2. Even if you’re a super casual gamer you won’t get the most out of the game unless you are somewhat active in the community outside the game.

not sure I want to post my times lol. Anyway I managed a 1:49.5 around Daytona (Alan did a 1:50.101) and around Le Mans I managed a 4:03 and (Alan’s 4:05.876) Was fun though and Daytona there is more in it :).

Well I for one am happy about this. Hopefully more British classics will make their way into modern racing games.

It's okay to just put a lap for participation purposes, but please don't be that player with a 20:XX dirty lap time! By the way, updated Phil lap times, 1:50:101 at Daytona, 4:05.876 at LeMans (he's about to to catch me!.)

Some driving line inspiration for those struggling at Le Mans (ignore the Mulsanne chicanes).

Don't worry about me (top 20% in my first flying attempts). No idea where Alan is but just give me the Porsche and MG.

TVR! It's back with British owners and the new Griffith is coming. Turn 10 should negotiate and include some of their classics. I'm fed up with the fact that we only have the Sagaris.

Thanks, but I didn't refer to this update. I meant, was the Ford GT production car part of FM7 when it released last year, or are we still driving the concept car from FM6?

It’s the production version.

1 dirty lap each from a standing start is all the time I care to invest in this. Locking many dozens of the 700+ marketed cars behind crappy and badly advertised events like this, the leagues, forum events or Forzathon is just lame. I bet I could even get a full refund of the game for that reason if I wanted to since this is no way a 700+ car game for the average Joe who doesn’t visit fm.net on a weekly basis.

Aaaand he is at it again :D
Crappy events? Can you please tell me about other other similar events in other games, where devs themselves participating and where is Bounty Hunters loved by most Forza players where they can win "unicorn" cars by doing what game is made for - RACING?
Advertised? smh...Maybe MS should start sending text messages to every one, since its SO HARD TO CHECK FORUM once a month.
Please - get refund and just leave Forza forums, since you adding nothing here, but constantly talking bs.
I remember you been warned about this by SlipZtream itself

Ok, good to know. However, it's really strange that FM7 only offers the blue manufacturer color. Turn 10 published an article last year when the customer configuration kit arrived at their offices. Here's a video showing the color combinations they were presented with:

Oh wow didn't even see the MGA was the prize for the second challenge. That's one car I never got to try in FM4, really looking forward to it.

If you can’t be arsed to check a website (they’ve posted about it on their forums, social media and the rewind, not to mention all the other gaming sites like this one) or even the Rivals section of the game once a week I have no sympathy for you.

Granted, for someone that has complained as much as you I can’t help but wonder why you even have the game installed still.

If him getting a refund means he’ll take his pissing and moaning to the GTS section then I hope he gets it.

I now have posted times of 1:49.024 at Daytona GP, and 4:03.402 at Le Mans Old Mulsanne. I believe I have him beat in both cases. I really Really REALLY want those Forza Edition cars! NOTE: ALAN HARTMAN if you're reading this, Please don't advance your times anymore! Please?!?!

OK... I set two clean laps at both tracks. I really don't care what Alan's times are. I had a tough enough time driving either of the GTs wile resisting the urge to immolate my digital copy of FM7. Setting the wheel rotation to 540º shouldn't be a requirement to get good feeling out of this game. Sigh. But doing that helped the new GT feel competent and added some much needed on-center control for the straights.

Side note. I have avoided mostly Le Mans since FM6 so I don't remember the track looking this updated. Is this new to FM7?

You can drive every single one of these cars, stock, in the game.

I think you've answered that right there.

Maybe it'd be better if some of these cars required either luck or a few dozen hours of grinding, with no way of driving them at all outside of that.

...

I definitely believe the existing unicorns could be handled better (and be less numerous), but in the case of the MGA, I'm fine with the approach. It's being added for free, and players only need to run a single lap to qualify for it. That being said, T10 could do some other things as well to really cement it:
  • Add it into the dealership as a paid-for car a certain amount of time after the event (not immediately after — maybe a month?)
  • Have one of those pop-ups advertising these cars are available via Bounty Hunter to all players when they start the game. It does it for ForzaRC, why can't it be done for this?

Yes, Le Mans is definitely more detailed here in FM7. I noticed immediately after coming from FM6. Now that I think of it, I think there used to be a McDonald's off in the distance along the inside of the straightaway, (maybe confusing it with FM4 or FM5). I really enjoy the Le Mans in this version much better!

I furiously ran the 2017 GT around Daytona. I'm still in the 1:52 range. Time to do some research on optimal racing lines around the course.

For the record, I am not using ghosts or any visual aides in this event. I want to see how I really do with this event. The only assist I am using is Normal steering, because I'm using a wheel and Sim steering just doesn't feel right to me. Other than that, Manual w/ Clutch although; I am actually faster with the game handling the clutch for the 2017 GT.

In general, my practice isn't helping me refine my braking distances. When I try to brake a little later, I end up running wide or overshooting the turn entirely. That forces me to timidly brake early and lose all sorts of time.

Any update on Alan Hartman's times to beat? Or are they still the same. I don't have him favorited.

Dopplegagger, I can't do it without the braking line on. Braking early is so important, but for me it's the transition between the brake, and the gas out of the turn. Especially the big 1st turn, and the 2 deep infield turns. That and a smooth take on the backstretch chicane. I wish you luck.

They’re still the same as the ones in the first post.

I run a 1:47:XXX with a controller, manual transmission and the braking line on. After the warm up lap of course, braking in the first-second corner sequence is critical. I release the throttle after crossing the finish line, coast for a second and then brake progressively, from 7th gear to 6, 5, 4 and release (brake pressure gets to about half the trigger before releasing). I hit the second corner apex at 3rd gear, cut through the S curves and come out in 4th gear, then I break early and progressively (no taps) to take the first U bend (4th to 3rd, 2nd If I break late.) For the next one, you can take it a bit wide and almost flat out if you get a good line, then break early again to take the second U bend (3rd gear). Again, break early for the next sequence of corners to come out smooth (3rd gear) before the oval section. Finally comes the chicane, where I brake and go from 7th to 6, 5, 4, 3 with small throttle and break inputs. Look for the yellow banking in a left-right-left sequence, you can cut through.
I get my time around 1:48 in 3-5 laps and I set my current time around the 12-14 lap, just when the car was about to run out of fuel (is fuel weight a factor?) Good luck!

Thanks Northstar!
And Nacho Libre thanks as well. This a tough event, the 2017 Ford GT is so squirrely and this GT course has so many tough spots at high speed. It is SO HARD to keep the cars attitude just right on some of these turns. I find it so discouraging to be in the 'blue' and then go off course for a dirty lap. I find I rarely try enough laps before giving up.

The first turn is a big concern. If I was racing and not trying to hot-lap. I'd be fine with losing a few tenths, but seeing that my friends are setting times 2-3 seconds faster, I am looking to better my time everywhere.

But Daytona offers little in terms of easy to pick reference points. For now I am doing thins like, counting to 2 after crossing the start/finish for the first turn.

I'm kind of liking this problem. LOL. It's forcing me to learn a track I didn't like.

And the driving line going into, I found that if I enter to high I'm done for.

Same here. When the banking falls off, the grip seems to go with it. LOL

I made some improvement. My fastest lap is now in the 1:50's. I still have a ton of areas that could be better, but the places where I am starting to feel good about are the first turn and the Bus-stop.
