@flash

Yes, I have to admit it was a bit interesting (and tiresome though) going through all that stuff.

It's hard to say exactly, but I think its-ingame with a few touch ups. I don't think it's full CGI at all though.

"The 458 Italia debuts as a ground breaking V8 midship supersport. Enjoy viewing the newest model of Ferrari that excels even beyond their famed F430, with the newest technology of "Gran Turismo"."

With this quote from the site, and the video saying "Powered by Gran Turismo", what is this technology they are talking about?

No console game sound wise holds a candle to Project gotham series...may it RIP..damn blurr..
.... Drool.. Turn the volume up very loud..

I agree! I love watching the replays after playing PGR4. What I love the most is the sound of the cars has grunt to them and I love the echoing effect on the city courses with the sounds bouncing off of the buildings. Really adds to the immersion and makes it sound incredible!

The first trailer for GT5P had the same echoing effect at the end of the trailer which sounded beautiful! I really hope the final game will sound like the end of that trailer.

E3 2007 Trailer @ 1:10 is what I'm talking about.

Who cares, its not a big deal lol its not like u drive past and u look at the mountains. if its fixed it gets fixed, if not, no biggy. they got far more bigger and important things to worry about.

That vid just hammered home how much influence the car sounds have on creating a realistic atmosphere in a game. Awesome. GT5 has its work cut out!

Do you guys think it was possible that the guys at Ferrari secretly wanted to see which developer would be able to do a better representation and presentation of their new model? I'm just thinking in their shoes. I would do it just to see the difference. I think they can see the clear winner after watching the 2 tribute videos. :)

Thats what I was wondering, why else would the commission not just any racing game developer, but the ones that develop two most hyped and anticipated games this year.

yeah, after watching both tribute videos, I have to had the victory to GT5 for several reasons:
1. GT5's video showed ONLY the 458, which was the point of the video...not to brag about all the Ferrari models you have in your game...like Forza did. the first 30 seconds of the Forza video seemed rather pointless.

2. GT5's music fit the video a lot better than Forza.

3. GT5 showed the interior...which seemed to be missing from the Forza video.

4. And most importantly: it would seem that the car is going to be available in GT5 right off the bat, where as you have to wait until Christmas to play with it in Forza 3. Wow, talk about a teaser.

umm...it wasn't Blur's fault. Activision bought Bizarre Creations and Blur is the product of that..and don't worry too much...Blur sounds like PGR with power ups and an insane damage model.

It's just not the same, i remember back when i got my first XBOX and popped in PGR1... i loved to race through Shibuya listening to the japanese radio stations... :indiff:

then i got PGR2 and that was epic...but they got rid of tokyo and put in yokohama...Really now... But nurbo and hong kong more then made up for that....

PGR3 was awesome.. more like sick at first..

PGR4 was the best arcadeish racing game i ever got my hands on... :sly:

Then my 360 burnt out on me...funny...i never did buy forza 2... i still played forza 1 instead.. Maybe cause forza 2, just got rid of all the fun stuff.. like tokyo...Night tracks...fujimi kaido...and excettera...

(End) Flash back..

LOL, you are kidding, right? You heard wrong!

I agree with Ismoke. GT5 isn't even out.

I would like to turn the 458 into my full time screensaver on my computer at home. Animated as well, showing it from a blimp view going around mountain tracks, thick dark green wooded areas with a echo of the exhaust as it throws up the leaves as it drives through them.

I completely agree. Polyphony should have hired the guys responsible for the sound at Bizarre Creations.

I even prefer the audio in Supercar Challenge and Forza, to what's in GT.

We'll see what happens with the release of GT5; I'm only basing my opinion off of Prologue. There's been plenty of time since Prologue's release to address the audio.

I think GT5 has the main core sound of the cars down, but lacking in the overtones and subtleties that give each engine its character.
That PGR video, though i think very exhilerating and much better than GT5's sounds i don't think is being truly authentic, it is very exageratted, just like the physics in that game, but hey that's what arcade games are about.
To me it sounds like all the sounds in PGR are laid over with this fuzz, Which makes the cars sound more harsh, but is kind of cheating. I can achieve a similar effect although much crappier by putting GT5 through the mic port on my external soundcard and increasing the gain a little. I do like the metallic effects you can hear coming through though.
Most cars in GT sound like your listening to the engine and not the exhaust. The F2007 is probably the biggest dissapointment soundwise, it just sounds like a Peed off bee, no charachter whatsoever, but then cars like the mustang and vette seem to have been done reasonably ok.
Only one day till TGS to wait and see if things have improved soundwise, if not then i think that's what you are just going to have accept for GT5, to be honest i can see them adding more overtones and effects to the sounds already there, but i don't think they are going to completly scrap the sounds from Prologue and start a fresh.

Sigh, certain kinds of people will find any reason to try and deface a percieved threat.

yeah, after watching both tribute videos, I have to had the victory to GT5 for several reasons:

Your post is entirely silly for several reasons; Not the least of which is your first point - there is plenty of merit behind showing previous 'masterpieces' by Ferrari to underline the 458 italia's pedigree (an aspect considered utmost importance by Ferrari), and while it is one of the few parts of the direction Turn 10 went with their video that was on a competitive level with the GT video, it's really not necessarily some kind of 'LOOK AT US, BUY OUR GAME' "tactic" that you try to make it out to be.

2. GT5's music fit the video a lot better than Forza..

An utterly ridiculous remark, especially considering how close the soundtracks are to each to each other musically, and again quite silly to use your subjective tastes in judgement. At least the Turn 10 video showed off the gorgeous sound of the 458 italia, which the lack of in the PD video puzzles me. I'm not saying they had to, but it does help show off the car.

3. GT5 showed the interior...which seemed to be missing from the Forza video..

Seemed to be nothing, you're obviously trying to imply something. It was missing from the Forza video, and yes IIRC Forza now has full interiors so no you cannot have the satisfaction of getting away with another silly little dig.

PD went in a different direction to Turn 10, obviously. And although Turn 10's efforts were pretty good PD's really paid off for them judging by reactions.
I personally like theirs too. I mean, no ills meant to Turn 10 by saying this, but PD's video was smashing, and those visuals? astounding. Hard to believe they're in game.

4. And most importantly: it would seem that the car is going to be available in GT5 right off the bat, where as you have to wait until Christmas to play with it in Forza 3. Wow, talk about a teaser.

Most importantly? You're going to spearhead your entire attack on GT's rival with a completely moot point?

The 458 italia may be in GT5 right off the bat, but GT5 looks like it's not even coming out until after the assumed christmas holiday period, by which time there will already be a Mona Lisa painted 458 on the Forza 3 internet trade thing.

I give the win to GT5 (took the edge for me because of it's jaw dropping visuals and nice editing), but I give the lose to you.

Source?

I think both videos look great, but PD's effort takes the win.
Looking at the above comparison pics, I was befuddled for a moment, wow.

For all of you in the need of comparing HD vs. HD, here is the Forza movie in 720p @ YT:

I'd say that the lights at the beginning tend to be a bit rectangular, but I'm just a fanboy, so don't mind me :].

^Thanks for the link.
I think I've made up my mind well enough already (without so far as to be jumping the gun), though.

General consensus/careful speculation, hence the wording. No doubt he'll come back with 'you can't prove that'

It's more than clear after those trailers (and previuous ones) that PD has a very talented video editing staff. Turn 10? Not so much.

If you really have to 'compare' then at least go straight to fm.net and download the actual HD trailer from source... Youtube will have murdered it..

& experienced. I heard PD had Kubrick chained up in the elevator service area of their ground floor carpark on their secret base on Battleship Island.
