Ferrari F458 Italia

The "A" is short for Aperta. Lets call it the 458 SA!

I think this will look great in a single color scheme. Haven driven a few, I actually prefer open top Ferraris if they are mid engined. You can hear the exhaust so much better. Its really an overall better experience on the street as an open top. If it was a track only car, I'd pony up for a Challenge car. ;)

Yeah, unless you're only ever gonna use it on track, this is probably THE way to experience powerful cars. Just more aural enjoyment to be had.

That is a vulgarly revolting color scheme... that yellow is not vivid enough to work with the blue.

It's called the 488 GTB. 660hp from a 3.9l twin-turbo V8.

If it isn't a 458, shouldn't it be on it's own thread.

It's okay, I never really liked the 458, but this doesn't seem so bad.

Peak power arrives at 8000rpm, dizzyingly high for a forced induction engine, and a suggestion the rev limit shouldn't be too far shy of the 458's screaming 9000rpm. We're also promised a soundtrack "that is full, clear and totally distinctive".

So peak power is at redline? I don't buy that unless they are gimping boost like *crazy* down low. Ugh...WHY?!

(I do like the name though, and I like the looks)

What's with the "488" name? :odd:

Divide the engine capacity by cylinder count (then round up to the nearest full number).

It's not as pretty as the 458, especially in profile, but I like the interesting shapes in that view, and I like the front end more than its predecessor. The way the intakes highlight the rear arches might be my favourite aspect.

Does this thing have zero suspension travel? And at Enzo levels of power, where is the horsepower race going to end in this segment?

Not anytime soon, especially as the Mclaren 675LT will be revealed soon to compete with this.

Better looking than the 458 for me (which was gorgeous).

It's as fast as the F12 around Fiorano (from Jalopnik I think) which is insane, car is fantastic but RIP NA V8 bro :(

I didn't immediately like the 458 when it debuted. It had to grow on me, which it did.

This however, I already love. I can't wait to see/hear one on the street.

Spending some more time looking at it, I can't believe Ferrari okayed that door handle placement. What an awful detail.
Yes they really should have come up with something, Seams like they designed the car then when they finished building it someone shouted "**** we forgot the door handles".

Anyway this needs its own thread
You just ruined this car for me :(
lol I never noticed it before either

What went wrong at the front? It just doesn't look right somehow... definitely no where near as pretty as the 458 Italia, or as striking as the 458 Speciale.

But otherwise it looks great, and the performance is insane!
