What you would gain in accuracy you would loose in movement change speed, etc. I get my best times when i'm fighting the car left and right all the time - not something possible to replicate on a wheel. I just have seen no evidence one way or the other than one choice of input is superior to the other, none.

That's fine, you don't get the point I'm trying to make and I'm not going to argue about it or try to convince you one way or the other.

Yeah, definitely!

I checked this earlier and this product wi be available only from 2014.07.31 in EU.

Is that really usefull? I mean how works the original GT3 fixation system?

If you have a way to hard mount the wheel to your rig then it's not necessary. Otherwise it's kind of iffy. The G27 has better default mounting options but IMO that's the only way that it's superior to the Fanatec.

? From what I understand, there's no need to buy anything more, right Brandon?

To use a CSR rim you'd have to buy a completely different base. The GT3 RS is an all-in-one deal, you can't swap out rims. To get a base that you can swap rims on you'll need quite a bit more money.

I think that over €350 is already good enough for a wheel. I don't think I need more honestly. Plus I know some of my friends using old DFGT and they are really quick with that. So I'm not sure that to spent a lot of money in a wheel is an advantage, I mean that I won't gain more tenths with a €1000 wheel. Skills are skills and they reflect the driver capacity, not really the wheel quality.

Consistency is my main problem in my opinion. However, I'm not consistent with or without the wheel. Then again I would really need to practice with the wheel more. I don't use it online because I know I would be too slow to race with it. I'd be in the way way back. Anyway, I can be quick with the controller-and by that, I mean quick enough to keep up with some of you guys and this is mainly in slower cars-but being consistent is the issue. I mean I'm not kidding when I say my laps often times could have a split of 2 or 3 seconds difference between them. Another thing is I go off the track too much. Although that has gotten better and at least I've seemed to be able to overcome the pressure of the race. This goes back to granturismo 5 and I would be doing well in a race. Then comes the last lap where I make this giant mistake costing me the race and this happened a lot . It happened so much, we called it pulling a daddy-o

You should, no matter how far behind you are. Remember that perseverence is the key, boy 👍.
I already know that my lap times won't be as good as I do with the controller for the first weeks. But once I'll be used to the wheel, I'll fight back again with kkg, hobbsy, brandon etc ;)

Well, just received the confirmation mail.
I hope I won't be disappointed about the product, honestly.
My wallet has just taken a big kick in his a** and I guess my banker will call me tomorrow asking what's wrong with my account lol

I'm not going to offer any more opinions on controller vs. wheel as to not further offend anyone which was never my intention. They're apples and oranges (both are fruit that give you sustenance, are similar size and shape, are both delicious, but provide very different experiences) and one isn't better than the other one. I personally prefer oranges but would never criticize someone for eating an apple because they're tasty too.

But having owned both a G27 and a GT3 RS I would take the GT3 RS 10 times out of 10 and will always recommend it over the G27. Whether either one is as good or better than a controller is up to personal preference. 👍

It will take a week or two to adapt to it, but I'm pretty confident you will enjoy it for many races. Just make sure you have some sort of sturdy rig. 👍

That is simply un-'Merican, I am officialy offended. :grumpy:

You're from New Jersey, which is un-'Merican, therefore I don't acknowledge your opinion.

(man, I hope I don't get whacked for saying that! :nervous: )

Alright. And how long about I have to wait now for the delivery? I just hope it won't be 4 weeks or something like that. Now that I bought it, I can't wait. lol

Note: Just realized that you guys know now my real first and last names lol.

 @BrandonW77, you make me laugh . Seriously though you weren't offending me with the wheel vs controller conversation. I appreciate both and enjoy using the wheel even though I suck. I'm not going to use the wheel with you guys because I want a chance to do well with you guys however I will use it in a different league because there are two slower drivers in that league that I may be able to compete against using the wheel.

I've ordered from them a few times and I think it only took a few days, maybe a week at the most.

I can't pronounce either of your names though, but I think your first name would sound the same as Vettle's race engineer's last name? I'll just call you Rocky to make things easy. :P

I dont think anyone was offended B. Matter of fact deep down everyone is jealous of your setup 👍

If anything maybe some are tired of the "you really should use a wheel" comments. I get it from people using SRF sometimes :P

In the end it is just a game.

Just few months ago I was using our livingroom Tv and had to fight for TV time. Now I have some cheap loan monitor setup in a corner at least

I hope it does not arrive until I get back from my holiday!!! ;)

I don't think there's many here who would say they prefer to use the controller over a wheel and it's often just circumstances that dictate what's used. I had a G25 years ago but between a lack of space and the noise of the wheel at a time when the rest of the family were trying to sleep, I ended up just sticking with the controller for the sake of convenience.

While I've learned to be reasonably proficient with my manual dexterity I can never match the precision of control I had with the wheel and if I had my own little man cave I'd be back to a wheel at the drop of a hat.

New Jersey is like the UK equivalent of Essex or something right?

Maybe? I know nothing of Essex.

That was my point, I wasn't trying to tell anyone they should or shouldn't use a wheel. Not everyone has the space/funds/desire for a wheel setup and that doesn't make them any better or worse than anyone else. All I was getting at is that IMO a guy with the speed/skill of Litchi will be slightly harder to catch if he gets comfortable with a wheel setup, but he's already impossible to catch so I guess it's moot. Also IMO a guy with the speed/skill of Chase would be slightly harder to catch if he got comfortable with a wheel too, if for no other reason than because he wouldn't shred his tires and loose speed in the last few laps. :P

My first name = William in english. So everybody call me Will on gtplanet ;)

You will be Rocky to me from now on. :dopey:

Oh that makes sense @Litchi. Your name looks like Guillermo. That name is Spanish for William. There are some interesting similarities in Spanish and French but I guess that's to be expected when both languages are based off of Latin. I also like the similarities the English language has with German.

Note: Just realized that you guys know now my real first and last names lol.

Though I already figured I knew your first name (if not the exact spelling) since you have it above your PSN icon in katakana. ;)

Anyway, as a G27 user looks to me like you made the right call between it and the Fanatec. 👍 Overall the G27's a nice toy, far better than my old DFP, and quite good once one has modded the weak-sauce brake pedal (I used the Nixim mod) -- but with the encoder wheel issue I could never recommend it. Mine cracked after less than a year . Thankfully I managed to fix it and it works fine again but I look forward to upgrading in the future.

Between wanting triple screens and the planned gaming PC purchase toward the end of the year, though, I'll probably soldier on with the Logitech for a while... :indiff:

Oh, and @Litchi , any notion of how you're going to mount it?

@KingKlingeling, can't say much about tackling turn one sans abs. I did spend one practice session working on it and after a dozen smoky crashes gave up and enabled abs. My 'skills' (ha!) aren't yet up the task of threshold braking for that long with that much modulation -- as I'm sure you've already found, you really have to ease up just so after the transition off the banking, before getting back on the clampers for the final bit of braking for T2.

I might have to give it another go, though.... the rest of the lap is really nice without abs, it's just T1/T2 that made me give up this time!

Looks like a good option indeed. 👍 That centre post would drive me wacky though. Still, worlds better than what I used for years, which was a low table and a cheap 'gaming chair' chocked to the proper angle with sketchbooks. :odd:

I like the pedal plate adjustability on that playseat. One of the few complaints (about the only one really) I have about my Obutto is the limited options for the pedal plate.

I have my wheel attached to an old organ bench, the pedals are on the floor, and I sit in a lazy boy. It works suprisingly well.
