Great racing tonight guys, I think that went pretty well and I had a lot of fun. Good crowd and clean racing, to all. I look forward to your feedback. Congrats to @MC-Chase on the grand slam.

There was a rave?? :lol::lol::lol:
Yea was a good crowd. Nice to be up front for a few laps. Looking back at the pack knowing, it would be a matter of time until seeing MC in my rearview. Then the rest .

 to all.

congratulations @MC-Chase
what about a little race report :D
-fuel,tires,qualifying time ?
I didn't race 14laps yet , but I think I'll have to pit at least once for a fresh set of rubber
I'll have a practise lobby open today , feel free to join :gtpflag:

Is Traction Control permitted? The issue for me with SH is getting the car going straight when accelerating. Having TCS at 1 made a quite big difference already.

Yea, I usually have TCS off too except if it is a race car. But with this car it might just give me that extra speed and consistency that I need. And I did not notice any mention about it on the first page, so wondering if it was an option :)

Thanks King 👍.

We both know it would have been a different story with you there though :P. Tires started to really let up for me at the end of the longer race, but I always seem to give my tires a hard time for some reason - no one made a pit-stop and I can't see it being beneficial either; similarly fuel was a non-issue. My qually time was a 2:11.228 which I managed to replicate once in practice but never thought I'd get on the day, so I got lucky there.

You never learn much with TCS on in my humble opinion! Don't see why it would be an issue though if it brings the pack closer together =/ ?

@MC-Chase what kind of times were you running towards the end of the second race?

And well done from me too, it must have been more rewarding starting from the back and still take a win...

@BrandonW77 I really thought you were gonna get past me once you caught me, I guess you were being the tactician and picking us of one at a time!

Luckily I escaped :sly:

I guess I omitted that in the OP. I usually have it off but with these cars I think it would be ok to allow TC. I realize the MR's can be a bit of a handful and I did see a few people struggling with them last night so if it helps keep cars on the track and keeps the pack close than I have no problem allowing TC for those who want it. Personally I don't think there's any real advantage to be gained so that's not an issue, but it can help mitigate disadvantages which is good for racing. 👍

No pitstop was necessary but we were right on the border and I only had enough fuel left for one or two more laps. The car got hairy on the last lap, tires weren't that bad but presumably it was due to low fuel load. I think for Saturday I'll shave one lap off so we don't run into that again. The tire wear did start to shake things up in the last few laps which was good, but I think we were all nursing it home on the final lap which isn't good. I was still able to do high :12's in the last few laps but was getting more and more throttle-on oversteer on exit which I didn't have at all in the first 2/3's of the race.

@KingKlingeling I'm not too good with race reports but I thought everything went great and was very interesting racing. In the first race I qualified 2nd to Chase and got caught up in a schmozel in the first corner that kept me from catching him but I was only a few seconds behind him and had Torzilla putting heavy pressure on me from behind the whole time. I'm not sure what went on behind us as the three of us kind of broke away.

The second race saw Chase and I start from the back, the first few laps were bumper to bumper with very intense and clean racing. Chase was able to squeeze through a couple holes and move up but the holes closed before I could follow him through. On lap 2 we were very tight going through the Schumacher Esses, I tapped the brakes to avoid bumping bdubclub which unloaded the back end and saw me go around into the sand and then crash into Hobbsy. I was in last place and many many seconds behind the pack. I put my head down and started pushing, picking off a few places here and there and eventually catching the draft of Hobbsy and turnupdaheat, my goal was to overtake both of them and that would be my victory for the evening. Sadly I failed to accurately anticipate turnupdaheat's early braking in the final turn and and bumped him just enough to put him in the sand. I waited for him to rejoin and we got to work trying to catch Hobbsy who was now many seconds up the road. Heat seemed to be struggling with the tires and had a small off that allowed me by to chase Hobbsy on my own but a missed braking point and a missed shift prevented me from catching him. Ahead I see Torzilla struggling with the tires and Hobbsy was able to get by him, and eventually I was able to squeeze past him on the last lap to secure a hard earned 4th place. 👍

What are your guys opinions on how things went? Race lengths good? Tire/fuel wear good or do I need to turn it down a notch? And how about the tire experiment with some guys on SM? Seeing @Torzilla take a podium in the first race while putting massive pressure on me and fighting at the front for almost all of the second race made me quite happy and tells me that the plan worked great. He didn't seem to have any huge advantage on me but he was able to stay right on my bumper lap after lap and that's exactly what I was hoping for. 👍

For me the event went off very well :), I knew I would struggle to keep pace with Brandon and Chase, and thought that Torzilla would be my main rival for the night (only judge by quali!). I knew I could drive much better than I did, but things did not seem to gel in the races. The variations of fighting for positions, braking points and draft left me mostly out of sync and running very ragged :scared: It didn't take much to upset the car especially in the later laps.

Though I soon learned that the best way past most, was to let them beat themselves... :boggled: No rude remarks please Brandon! :P
A little bit of pressure and the sandtraps would eat them up!

I did make one (intentional) move that seemed to work pretty well, it started in the left before Ford Kurve, and I ended going round the outside of Ford to take the position! I'm far too tired to remember any names, but i'm pretty sure Brandon was right on me so I had to get past the car ahead... which may have been turnupdaheat!

The only other move that happened well, & in a blink of an eye, was a dive down the inside (more avoidance than intent) of Torzilla at the final turn. I was surprised to have caught him up, but I guess his tyres were shot.

It all gets a big 👍 from me, but I cannot see me improving much between now and Saturday though :scared:

Well done to @MC-Chase for doing the double! and Big thanks to @BrandonW77 for hosting.

That's my general strategy for all races. I try to overtake at proper passing points if possible but the rest of the lap I just stay right on the bumper and try to pressure them into making a mistake that I can take advantage of. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but I feel like it's a better strategy than trying to force a pass that may or may not be successful.

The SM's definitely helped me stay at the front of the pack. I started to notice less grip around lap 8 of the second race and it kept going down from there. In my practice with SH tires I never had wear anywhere near as bad as SM. I also jacked the abs up to 5 with all other aids off since this car would get squirley on me going into the corners. Overall I thought the tire situation worked well and had a very enjoyable race.

I could tell you were really struggling the last couple laps and figured your SM's were wearing faster. Because of that I'm going to reduce the tire/fuel wear to Normal for this Saturday and we'll see what kind of effect that has. I'm thinking this car will produce some decent tire wear even at Normal, but not as extreme as we saw last night. The point of having you on the SM is to keep you in touch with the pack so I don't want the degradation to negate that later in the race. 👍

@BrandonW77 put me down for both days thanks.

Got you added, send me a FR on PSN (same ID as here). Look forward to racing with you. 👍

Ok ok, I will leave that switch alone and learn to drive instead ! :D

Speaking seriously, TC would be quite appropriate in this car (though it's got good launch off of corners without it). It's just that I honestly never even thought of running it; turning the TCS off has become a completely reflex action.
(Though I think I may have resorted to TCS1 with that godsawful pig of an FXX... hate that car, hate hate hate hate and will skip the event if we run it in this series. :) )

In the end, as others have said, you will learn to be faster without it. 👍

Don't listen to them. :P If it helps you keep the pointy end forward and stay with the pack then feel free to use it. I'd guess as you get comfortable with the car you could eventually turn it off but don't be afraid to use it. To me and those guys it's actually a hinderance because it makes the car behave in a way we don't want and disobey orders from our right foot, but that doesn't mean it effects you the same way. 👍

So anyone up for few laps?
I imagine I'll be on for a bit this evening, if you're around and see my room open, hop on in. 👍

Afternoon yet? I am opening a room for some testing, message me if you open the official server 👍

I won't be home from work for about another hour or so. I'll try to jump on when I get home and see if you're still around.

Wha?!! Hate the fxx?! :odd: Amar how could you?! :irked:

:sly:

I've only driven it once, in the early days of the game for some career event. It wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be, probably better now after the MR tweaks. I'll have to give it a go soon, but I don't have any immediate plans to race it here because I know it would make some people :nervous: and probably wouldn't make for the best racing.
