My view at the time I wrote it was that a "majority" did not consist of "the people who happen to be online during that time". I never had the thought that literally everyone had to have a say. Just more than those that happen to be around in that window in was debated (as in, more than 25% of the participants). I'm well aware of how it would work, and I am not unreasonable.

I hear you. 👍
But I think that at that time, the 3 mandatory stops was the majoritys opinion.
That does'nt meen that the majoritys opinion can change during the next couple of days when more people are on-line. 👍

Here's the facts... the cars aren't equal (most probably). That goes for the car's pace, tuning potential, tyre wear rate and stability when it's tyres are worn. This is a 1 off spot race. There's no 2nd round where we can tinker the specs. I don't want some people to be at an advantage right from the get go because they can do 2 stops less (in a 1 hour 20 minute race, no less) because it will end up people moaning at the end of the race that they had crap tyre wear etc. It's bad enough when people moan that their car was too slow on the straights or too slow in the corners. Unless a group of you want to put hours into tyre wear testing then the 3 mandatory pit stops stay.

👍

I can understand that, but for the moment i am doing 1.25 in a Pro car, my strongest point is the tyre wear.....

Then you should still be better off. A better tyre wear doesn't always mean you have to pit 1 time less (as in the case of this race with mandatory pit stops, implemented with the reasons I stated above). Even though you might be down a bit on pace, then a good tyre wear should mean that your tyres will be better at the end of a stint where your rivals' will be worse.

There's also no rule to say when you can take them pit stops. If you're so confident that you can run a 2 stop, then why not take one of your 3 mandatory pit stops really early, say 3 or 4 laps before your rival.

But does anyone actually think that they will be able to do 19 laps in a GTE Pro Car (I think I'm correct in assuming that the GTE Pro cars can do longer stints than the GTE Am cars, and a 2 stop in GTE Am would be really difficult)? Because that seems a bit crazy to me lol and Laguna is one of the last places I would want bad tyres. Having said that I will be doing a lot more GTE Pro testing, but if one car struggles to do 2 mandatory pit stops whereas another car is possible to do so, then 3 mandatory pit stops stay.

Like i said, my laptimes are around 1.25 but on the otherhand, i am able to do 25 laps on 1 set.....and that is in the Nissan GT-R

Yea Adam, you don't need to worry about an Am car pulling 27 lap stints.. 3 stops are good! 👍

Edit: Wow!! 25 laps in a Pro??
What are your lap times from let's say lap 18?

ofcourse my laptimes go down from arround lap 20 i am running 1.27, 1.28.
But i was tryin to find a set up, or tweak mine, to be able to do a 1-stopper....

Had the same in the WRS, there were other people did 7-8 laps on one set of tyres, i was easily double stinting my tyres....ofcourse does my way of driving add to this, i make sure i never slide trough corners and i am constantly short shifting there were possible...

sorry to change subject but is there a practice session/race tonight. Think adz said Thursday but may of been dreaming lol

I've just dusted my wheel ready hehe

I'm not that much of a busy guy, but recently I swear my plans always change when I plan to do something in GT5. Might not be able to do that practice tonight, but post in the thread when ever you're around and I'll see if I can make a room.

There's a new 650p seasonal event in Laguna, thats quite challenging if you do on the specs for this race with racing hard tires.

Good way to have fun and make some money while practicing.

I was also more on the "no mandatory pit stops" side, but after reading Adam's post about different tire wear on different cars i think it's a good idea to have it.

The point I was trying to make is, even if someone has to stop 3 times during the race, not having that rule at least gives them the option to do less than that if they choose to. But it's not my race so....whatever. :)

Anyone will be hosting a practice session on Saturday? I see on post 1, one on Sunday but probably won't make it. I need to get all the rust off, I STILL havent touched GT5 since I left it. Oh boy, Im gonna be slow. :D

And tyre wear is 80% driver, 20% car. Or whatever, it's more about the driver at least.
I'm still ok with the current regulation though.

I have to cancel my entry, as i have received an invitation to go and watch the FIA GT1 at the Zolder-circuit.

Could be looking for a practice room at some point if anyone is interested. Just post in here and I shouldn't be too far away :)

Darn, plans changed. Should be around later though ;)

I'm jumping into Adam's lobby, is that what people are doing for practice? I'll be in there for about an hour running the Corvette.

Open lobbies are usually run for practice. I tend to open my own room and do it there, because I have noticed subtle differences in handling between my lobby and an open room.

Well, my medicine man got his signals crossed and sent thunderstorms with poring rain a week too early. Forecast after today is sunny skies for the rest of the month, most likely until fall. (I can live with that and it's one reason I live here in California). I'm asking for a refund, but he's not answering his phone.

Anyway, it looks unlikely I'll be taking part in the race this time around. Have fun guys and good luck. If any of you guys want more Laguna after this event be sure to check out the WRS enduro. We've put out the word to our stable of drivers that you guys are still looking for a few additional drivers as well.

That's funny, same here, storms all this weekend probably cancelling the baseball tournament I have tomorrow. I'm going to keep an eye on the weather all next week though.

I ran about 15 laps, fastest was 1'24.062 in the Corvette, I was on pace for a couple 23.6xx and messed up in T3 or 4. Right now I feel like I don't have it tuned right but will work on that. When I left Wes was in Adam's lobby if anyone is looking to join.

If either of you have just a regular coloured R8 then use that, but otherwise it's no real problem.
