I'm not sure there's a more inappropriate nation to confuse the Netherlands with than Germany...

Oh dea. :dunce: I watched the whole game aswell. All because I read Germany on the previous page and then... *cough*

I think the ref was excellent in the Germany - Aus game. I really like the yellow cards for the diving, no warning just a straight booking. About time FIFA had a word with the ref's and have taken action by the looks of things. I think the ref's have been outstanding so far 👍

Wonder if Ronaldo will serve a ban before the groups are over ;) 2 yellows for diving = a ban

I've enjoyed the world cup so far, the games are a bit slower than normal but I think that's just the general style of play evolving. Most teams now seem to sit back and wait for the counter attack. Looking back at some of the Mexico world cup games they don't really compare.

The refs are also looking pretty good so far, although many of them have some questionnable past decisions and I think some of them have even been banned from refereeing (think one of the commentators mentioned it).

I'm also watching the games at work through both ITV and BBC websites but the BBC online player is much smoother and much better picture quality.

One more note, please ban that horn! It's beyond a joke when it doesn't stop for the entire 90+ minutes.

Yellow cards will persist through the second round. The amnesty is at the quarter-final stage this time.

I agree in terms if tough refereeing with regards to diving. Divers or 'simulators' as they are supposed to be called, disgust me, its certainly a part of the game I don't like to see.

Also the ref in the current game has a tendency to tell injured players to get off the pitch, which while may seem a little harsh, is probably a good move to help prevent players who fain injury to promote sympathy from the ref, and of course, to tactically waist time.

Japan look the better team in this match, although I think it will be both Holland and Denmark who go through in this group.

I'm sure Blitz will be made up with both the goals by Liverpool players, unfortunately for Denmark Daniel Agger's was in the wrong net!

Japan is a enjoyable Surprise but Cameroon's game is disappointing...such a bunch of good players but as a team they have a lot of work to do.

I also think that Denmark and Holland are the teams that will classify to next phase.

Im whatching the game right now and your right! Cameroons do have good players and physically much stronger but, with a bad coach in this game. Japan has medium players with a pretty good coach. Bad tactic Cameroons are using... i was convinced they were going to win...

EDIT: Dont know why i like that HONDA guy

Holland and Japan both looking good... I doubt Denmark will progress. Cameroon can forget it...

Well Cameroon only showed a little of their magic in the last ten minutes, but that wasn't enough to submit a perfect average Japanese Team(I think S.K is stronger) but has some really good players-the left backhander,EKOTO(I am probably misspelling sorry) is an exciting player.

Let's see how Italy starts the competition...I hope Paraguay wins:sly:

Too soon to say that let's see how Denmark will handle Japan and Cameroon...but I really think Japan has not what is needed to go through...let's wait and see:)

Exactly!

👎 on those plastic horns (made in China and imported to Africa 5 years ago! Same can be accomplished by fans using a gazoo!

What happened to the singing at a football match?

Africa has wonderful tradition of singing - remember Apartheid!

I have yet to watch a complete 90 minutes of a match because of that incessant droning; which reminds me of a wasp's nest or bee hive and just as annoying as a wasp sting!

Japanese win????

Unexpected, anyway, congrats to the Samurai Blue team. 👍

Also, those vuvuzelas are annoying, you can't even hear the crowd growing in a offensive move, and that's killing some of the beauty of the show. Please FIFA, do something about this! :grumpy:

I think there is everything to play for between Denmark and Japan. Japan are a very organised team, and if they can manage to hold Holland to a draw then they will almost certainly to go through. Denmark are a reasonable side and shouldn't have too much trouble dispatching Cameroon if play anything like they did against Japan.

If Cameroon are to score enough points to go through, its likely that they will have to beat the Netherlands, and if today is anything to go by, England has more of a chance at beating Germany in a penalty shoot-out than Cameroon do of winning.

Put down the horns and sing!

From what i heard FIFA knows about this issue, but wont do anything about it at this time.

Good ideia anyway! We dont want any riots in South Africa !

I really, really think you have to have some nerve to go to a country that's hosting the World Cup and tell them how to produce a "good atmosphere".

So what they do it differently in SA, if it bugs a few star players but has no affect on the home team then what's the issue? No-one complains when you hear the odd insulting chant in Premiership games.

^^ That wasn't my point Evan, I don't want to "teach" south africans how to cheer or to create an atmosphere, mostly because these things are unique and can't be influenced by anyone other than the local people.

What I do consider annoying is the constant sounding of the vuvuzelas, I'm not trying to be pedantic but those things just kill the crowd chants and songs, and these are common and traditional things in South American and European football, hence my questioning. The games are unpleasing to the ears, and that's a serious issue in my opinion.

The BBC just came out with a statistic that the vuvuzela horns have created approximately £2m worth of revenue. That is probably why they will not be banned - it's official merchandise.

If anything, I think the South Africans have missed a trick; if they sold official ear-protectors too they would double their revenue

1-0

You want Fifa to do something about it. Which I'm assuming can only be along the lines of banning the vuvuzlas? How is that not "teaching" the SA supporters how to create an atmosphere with negative reinforcement?

I've been to many matches in the "cauldron" that is the Millenium Stadium with the roof shut. For years the vendors outside the ground have sold horns, mini-vuvuzelas almost, and the kids love playing them. Sure it can get annoying, but it's a much better atmosphere than an un-enthusiastic crowd sitting making no noise (like many Ospreys games) which is what you would have to expect in many smaller World Cup games unless the home crowd decide to make some noise.

And this is coming from a lad who loves singing abit of "Bread of Heaven" or "Delilah" through a game!

And Paraguay... take the lead?

That was a garbage call. Wasn't it a handball on Paraguay?

Big fail on Cannavaro on that set piece. Jump, dude! Juventus needs to take more shots. They have a funny habit of getting near the box and then passing back into midfield.

teario bambino's  Paraguay had a good half and have definitely put one up the Italians. This should make for a good second half....

I demanded FIFA's intervetion mostly because of the quality of the show as a whole, I'm not able to hear the crowd properly(excepting vuvuzela noises) and that's a shame in my opinion. As a fanatic soccer fan, I attend stadiums whenever I have time, we sing, many play tambourines and even horns, and none of these sounds are annoying enough to compete with the vuvuzelas.

I know, FIFA isn't going to do anything on this matter, but this is one of the bad aspects (maybe the only one) in this cup in my opinion, and I'm sure a lot of football fans would second this opinion.

By the way, Paraguai taking the lead isn't a surprise, I've bet 2-1 for Paraguai in this game, I'm not underestimating the Azzura, but Paraguai was the second in South American preliminary games, and the team is quite strong. Go Paraguai! :D

Also, be aware of Chile too, Spain is going to face a difficult situation against the Chileans and "El loco" Bielsa.

I noticed that ESPN started putting Jersey colors under the team scores. It helps alot if you haven't been watching the game the whole time.

Did I turn over two pages at once there? Only it looks like Italy have subbed off one of the greatest goalkeepers who's ever lived... for some reason?

Undisclosed injury. :(
