Final Quick Match Races 2-7-18

1:46 is a seriously good lap time. Better than MAXPOWER.👍

Here is the race.
By the way, the video shows it can be done, not how it can be done, because players use different lines, braking points, controllers, steering wheels or cars for the event. Also, I am not posting the video on this thread anymore, because the website has another thread dedicated to videos, and it's better to keep things organized.

I found the TS030 incredibly handy and stable, great down force and pointy. For me, the 908 HDi was some 10 seconds slower, which is way too much for 3 laps at Silverstone.

For less than a second, at the replays list screen in the video, you can see my progress - went down from 5:32.954

Lagging Rammer Shows Us How It Is Done Without Penalty.

*facepalm*

In other news, the continual loading issues with Nurb GT3 have gone! By fixing the game? No! They've replaced it with 3 laps at Silverstone for prototype courtesy cars. Great!

Yes. Except for one thing. The courtesy seems to be that PD have set up the LSD of the TS030 perfectly for a drift trial and covered the track in black ice.

464pp Mazda Touring Cars is where I find the best racers. After telling a few of them off, the bad ones either clean up their act or leave the room. When players clearly have a slow/standard tune, I let them pass me back and then try overtaking in a different place each time. Really educational!

Or you could switch to a terrible ISP, saturate your connection with P2P file sharing, join rooms full of people on the far side of the world and ram them all off the track without receiving any penalty because you are so badly out of sync. Then upload the video to YouTube to show everyone how to play Quick Match. The choice is yours!
I agree with you re the Touring Cars event - the drivers seem to be a mix of the rammers, who are easy to avoid and leave a long way behind, the 1.22 second drivers, who disappear into the distance, and the steady eddies like me who can run 1.24 consistently. As long as there's not one of the fast guys in the room, I win about 90% of the races I enter.

I do also enjoy beating (some of) the 2Js and the hybrids in my HSV at Brands.......

Have tried the Miura, the GSX-R, and the 111R at Rome, but can only get 1.12 out of each of them. Did see a guy running 1.10 in the Dino the other day - seen plenty since, but none as fast as he was!

I'm hosting an Open Lobby called 600pp Seasonal CLEAN ONLY with @coryclifford and some friendly randoms. Winner changes car. Next up, Silverstone. Might do full Brands Hatch GP at some point.

All clean racers welcome. :gtpflag:

I tried the Indianapolis race the other day. Absolutley hated it. Started 4th in an SLS. Got rammed in turn 1 and ended up pushin the guy ahead of me off. Next lap, Got pushed sideways in three and drifted all the way around with the same guy pushing on me trying to spin me out. He eventually did. Fell back to 8th. turn 1 of lap 3 after making back 3 spots, watched 3 cars cut to the right of the tires full throttle. 2 guys made it thru, while another took a guy out. on eof the corner cutters ended up winning the race with me finishing 5th after getting pushed wide entering the backstretch.

I tried the Praiano tune. for suzuki GSX-R, with modifications for 500PP, but the transmission setting are not coming out right. This is what i see on the screen:
1. 5.386 - 7.172
2. 2.992 - 5.059
3. 3.101 - 3.373
4. 2.513 - 2.694
5. 2.125 - 2.423
6. 1.583 - 2.066

As you can see I cannot get to 4.955(first gear) as recommended by the tune.

HELP PLEASE.

I've been struggling to get a close race for the last week or so as I can't seem to time it right with other 22s runners. I've pm'ed about 20 quick and clean drivers with the tune I'm using and only seen a couple of them since then. Plenty of messages saying they're clicking with it and hitting 22s but I can never find them to race them again. Depressing.

I've even won races running 27s and drifting every possible corner. A Scandi flick and handbrake into the fast right hander before the last hairpin at 116mph and a 45 degree angle into the hairpin is hugely addictive but all 4 tires are that cooked, it's a long way round the hairpin.:P

I've been using a 20kg ballast tune to slow the car down to a 23.5-24 lap time now though to get some close racing and it's been that refreshing, I'm even enjoying tangling with the dirty drivers. Dropping 90kg gives me the whole track to play with and I've been tormenting them remorselessly. Baiting them on every corner we're sharing. A quick jab of the brakes and watching them fly wide is great fun.

One thing I wanted to ask as I've read a bit about it on here lately. Does the internet connection have anything to do with grip levels? I know the game doesn't use much bandwidth but I've got a fast 152/10Mb fibre optic home connection and wondering if that's helping me? I've tried grabbing stuff off my seedbox to home at 12MB/s and running the same times so it isn't bandwidth. Maybe due to a low latency line?

That is a 450PP tune and that is why the gears are not matching.

I've often wondered whether speed/quality of Internet connection has an influence - certain countries seem to produce high numbers of very fast drivers. I was in a room with 3 Japanese drivers last week, and they were all running 1.22s, a long way ahead of the rest of us.

Lots of good close racing tonight at Silverstone. I used the Toyota first and had trouble getting under 1:52, was squirrelly out of corners. Tried the Peugeot and wasn't much faster but was a safer drive. I want to try the Nissan, but have a feeling I'll be a lot faster when I come back to the Toyota. Sorta bummed that Nurb is gone but this one is fun.

My dad has got a 10mbit connection so i'll see what it's like there but from what I can remember, BT are pretty good for the ping as well. I'll do a line test and see if it's a high enough a ping to test on anyway.

Good call this one, although I could only get it to 375 hp, not 381? The back end tries to overtake the front quite easily, but I managed to win a few races with it, despite the fact that I could only manage 1.13 fastest laps (I'm not as good a driver as you!).

You are correct. The car you see in my replay has the following ratios
1 - 5.386
2 - 3.992
3 - 3.210
4 - 2.655
5 - 2.229
6 - 1.901

final - 3.000

I went into Roma with the Miura after getting beat down pretty badly by racers using Nova's, Mitsubishi sedans and pick up trucks in my Pagani. But after winning a few races by 15 seconds or so, it gets boring.

Tuff to find a happy medium or end up in a room with matching cars or drivers. It's fun when it happens Though.

Tonight I think I'll try some of the other QM's for the first time.

It's double edged sword when you get an edge in these quick matches. Race after race of trying to beat yourself and then choking (as in my case) when you get a front row position. It gets monotonous.

Imagine what it's like for the top guys and gals though? Chasing the clock race after race. It makes me want to stick at a "good enough" skill level. Such ambition.

I've come to a conclusion about the prototypes as well. They bite. I tried to stick with the R18 thinking better the devil you know and it kicked my arse. Either I can't get the hang of whatever tune they've put on it or it's a level too far for me. I think I'll stick with the lower powered cars and admit to my lack of chest hair.:scared:

(Weird how I'm not bad with the Formula car but I suppose that's down to the tune.)

I like the Brands Hatch race if the 2J's would stay home. If the name doesn't connect, you don't know who you're going against. I won't run it & I hate breaking out the 'yota if it isn't needed. I almost gave in and ran the stupid thing earlier today, 7 cars in the room & 6 were 2J's, & me with a R18.

I tried to get in that silver stone race, but got booted three times. I did a Mazda race, 3 actually. Lost the first by .024, won the second by 4 seconds with the same cars after a cleaner start. Then everyone left, but the guy who had a 1st and a 2nd. When I pulled away to about a 3 second lead on lap two, he bailed....or got booted.

Off to Roma. I tried the S2000 04, it works well after some tuning. Ran a best lap of 1:11.28x, but only one. Anomaly? Most laps were low 1:12's or high 1:11's. Won a few races, best was one with 4 GSXR's, a few Miura's and GT40's are suddenly everywhere too, lol... a best total 3:41.6xx time.

If someone wants to give the S2000 tune a try, let me know.

I check my car and it's at 381hp. It's a brand new one, don't have any explanation!
I saw a few RX-8 Concept last night. They were all having troubles with acceleration.

In your garage you can do some races for testing a car.
I usually fix the suspension first, then the drivetrain.
You could start with a 10/10/40, if it's going fine then try a 10/15/40 and 15/15/40 and so on.

I'm using R2 and L2 for gas and brake, took a a long time to get use to it.

Did a test last night. Roma event with a RX-8 Concept, wasn't able to go faster than mid 1:12?
Unplugged my internet cable and plugged it back, my PS3 reconnected. When back to race and low 1:10!!!
I'm starting to believe internet connection really is a problem.

If you're 15sec faster than them you should give them 8-10 sec headstart then try to catch them thats what i do at brands hatch 600pp. You dont chase people out of the room at the same time

You dont wanna meet my toyota hybrid then and i need to see a quick 2J i haven't come across 1 yet

I finally got back in QM,(had to deal with family tragedy this week):( the Silverstone race I like, but leader was running a 1.47 with a courtesy car?:odd: almost too crowded, one time I got in I got PUNTED right into the front straight wall, where as before first couple times in everyone was ghosting through each other, which made for some interesting quite enjoyable racing, but it didn`t last before everyone was trading paint...
Finally got into brands hatch had a good time clean racing, untill someone showed up with a cheater car,so I left.
Could not get into the roadster or roma too many online keep getting booted off.

A lot of people seem to think winning is everything and always go for the dominant car to stack the odds in their favour. It's like they don't want to have to work for the win. Laziness to be honest.

Every time I've read about the Brands race, or 600pp race cars in general, the 2J always gets mentioned. They're fine for the time trials (being the quickest) but they really take the shine off promising races.

The Mazda race is pretty much done for me. People seem to have given up trying to compete with the quickest cars and staying away from it in droves. I thought I'd get some races with the boozed up friday/saturday drivers but the biggest race I had was a whole 4 people and they gave up after 3 races. If only they'd locked the power down and everyone had to race with the default hp...

I switched to the Roma event in the end and had a good bit of fun in the NSX Type R 02. I couldn't believe how many times I got a good start and had someone crashing directly in front of me but at least it made for some really entertaining challenges. Usually from the back. :P

It's only running about 330bhp (1100kg) so I had be on my A game but I got it into the mid 11s and gave a few of the Miuras and gixxers a scare. Even pipped a few of them to the post but I couldn't get lower than the 42s with having to defend. Close enough to get a draft on the high 30s racers so I'll stick with it for a bit but I've got 61 of Praiano's 500pp tunes to choose from. If I can get them into at least the 13s, I should have plenty of alternatives.

I'm not a fan of the track but being surrounded by more drivers on a narrow track makes it fun and with me still getting my line down, it should stay fresh for a bit.

Had fun today in the Roma event driving a Dome Zero. Average time low 1:11.2, best 1:10.9

14 drivers, all clean racers, no Miura or GSX-R/4. 11 different cars on the grid :)

Play 5 races, won 4. But by not much.

In the chicane, was side by side with an HSC, he had the best line but knew i would pass him in the straight after. So I slow down to let him take the the chicane in front on me, alas he was thinking the same thing... talk about clean racers, we both end in the last places. Muhahaha! We both stuggle to overtake as much drivers as we could. He end up second and me third.

Sorry, my mistake, had fun driving against you ;)

I was pretty excited for the Silverstone QM, love love driving prototypes, but it only took 3 laps to find out it wasn't going to be much fun. If you want to win, be prepared to take a big chunk out of Stowe and take a very adventureous but momentum conserving 4-off line at Copse.

I tried the Dome Zero after a Japanese driver kept pace when I had my Gixxer on the track. He finished within 2.0 seconds of my 3:37.5xx. But I couldn't get steering AND traction, felt like a one or the other car. Might have given up on tuning it too soon. Something to work on tonight.

It's worse than I thought....these assholes are cutting the whole first section all the way from Farm to Aintree. Here's an idea of the cuts and track excursions I've seen in just two races:

I can only imagine what's going on at Becketts and Club.
