Final Quick Match Races 2-7-18

I understand now.... i just ran into a hate sammich in a qm at roma wow people have issues im runnin 1.13 and guy in muria runnin 1.12 good race trying. to catch a gsxr. gsxr wrecks i pass and we battle for a lap and lapper gets in way and wrecks me out just as i get out of tbe way off the racing line someone hits me broadside get going again and put of the way and next car aims for me even had to ghost through a couple of cars wow people have issues.... but had great fun at the hatch clean drivers while i was in there but i left when the protos start showing up.

I did a few rounds of Silverstone QM yesterday, lots on Friday and wasn't seeing any egregious cheating. Just going wide at copse, which isn't really much faster. Actually had great close races Most of the time. A few sore losers/brake checkers here and there. I suppose there's a small window of time to enjoy QM's before people catch on to the shortcuts and ruin them. If only there were a way to punish people for cheating, or take away the opportunity for them to cheat...

Also I just realized that I forgot to save the one Silverstone replay where some car shot 100 ft or so into the air at the start. Not sure what happened, guess I'll never know.

Just picked up another insane trick at Silverstone...I was keeping up with a guy, cutting when he cut (because that's just how it has to be with the rules in place) setting up a last lap overtake into Club, only to see him pull into the pits and beat me to the line!

QMs will be QMs :lol::rolleyes:

When you go into Roma QM's expect to start seeing more Zonda's, lol. Sent all but the fastest Miura and GSXR divers packing. Bwahahahaha....best of 3:41.1xx.

Car is super hooked up detuned. Actually had to bring the toe down to -8 front and 0 rear. Ride hieght 72-60. Dampers a little radical at 2-7 comp and 10-3 extension.

Actually a little too easy to drive, almost boring. Sounds awesome too! 81.1% power.

I finally got to spent some time in roma tonight with my shelby omg they were passing me in the straights like i was driving through mud.....i would gain in the. corners only to lose on the straights... i need a faster car.

(because that's just how it has to be with the rules in place)
It's only a personal choice, not how it has to be. If you stay within the limits of the track (pushing to get the better out of you) everything will be much better even if you finish 2nd, 3rd or last. The grass is for golfers!

only to see him pull into the pits and beat me to the line!
Got in a race where the guy following did that. After I watched the replay on the intermediate times screen, got the confirmation that cheat was 4 tens slower anyway.
With grip (good server connection) Silverstone is super fun. Got my personal best down to 5:23.632 (laps 1:51.084, 1:46.182, 1:46.366). With bad server connection is like racing in the wet, some 11 sec. slower with the same car.

thanks will try
Let me know if it works for you. We might have different other options.

Well that might just explane. i cant break 1.58 and the leaders are doing 1.47....
At silverstone.
Cheaters are slower than 1.47's. I've seen couple of them, but the penalties keep them behind if you have the pace in your car. You will need a wheel for this QM for sure.

I've only done 15 or so matches at Silverstone total and with 3 different cars. A 1:51 is a decent second or third lap for me. I seldom broke 1:50. I can't imagine finding 3+ seconds, let alone pulling off a hurricane lap like that repeatedly. I'll go ahead and blame my connection, quietly go away and never think I'm quick again :ill:

Roma Event again!

Was driving this car for the first time. Shame on me!!
Everybody left the room after the race.

Good call on this! The setup looks a bit unfinished until you drive it. The car has some mega PD favouritism! After a couple of races I lowered it slightly, increased anti-roll bars slightly and loosened the LSD quite a bit. That suited my DS3 mashing and I was able to do consistent mid 1m11s laps.

Quite a few Japanese drivers in cool, rarely raced cars in my session. Hyundai HCD-6 was a match for me due to the outstanding driver. Whoever you are: 👍

There is no more of Silverstone, We move to Imola for 3 laps with the same choice of cars. Try to stay away from the mess at the first chicane and be aware of the cheaters. So far I got a 1:49.5xx for the fastest lap and 5:36.776 overall with a Merc. Braking points are tricky!

Roma is like a mini High Speed Ring with slower corners. Two nice straight, Roma 7 corners, HSR 6 Corners only.
That's why good handling cars like the Miura are struggling on this one.

The RX-8 is a powerful car for 500pp. The acceleration is the key. Using R2 for gas, I am able to control it with a drivetrain at 40/60/40.

Did the Roma tonight with the RX-8, one driver with a Miura was doing mid 1:10.
He start first and I was 14th. Finish 2nd, 1.4 second behind him. My last lap was 1:09.5xx
That's probably scare him cause he left the room... Grrrr!

Been trying many different cars, won the Red Bull 450PP with a citroen 2 CV. Had to block the NSX in the last traight.
Never thought I could win a race with that garbage!

One last thing, and I know this can make some player angry. I'm tire to see people in the TT at the top of the list drifting every corners. This is not racing, in real life, those tires would be dead after 5 laps. This is what I miss the most about GT5. Been driving so many races with drivers drifting everywhere and faster than me by two second each laps. But after 5 laps, they had to go to the pit, a lost of 26 seconds on two laps, winning was like a walk in the park!

Hope whe will meet on the track someday, this would be so cool ;)

Tried that race tonight, alas like you said, the first chicane is a demolition derby. as soon as I saw that, left the race.
Should read your advice first. Thanks!

With bad server connection these QM events are pure lottery, because one of the participants can have a good connection and you are a sitting duck. When I got the good connection, put my PB at 5:31.217 and best lap at 1:47.994. You have to appreciate the guys staying in the same race, struggling 10 or 15 seconds behind.

I thought I might have some fun and try one. Worst mistake ever. Online and fun just seem to never mix.

This guy was racing fairly not corner cutting or anything then I overtook him at the beginning of the final lap and on the last few corners he decides to do a massive dive bomb and knock me out of the way. 🤬 I swear I hate online with a passion now. I don't care how bland the AI are I'll take them over randoms any day.

It can be frustrating, but when that happens to me it doesn't bother me nearly as much. Here's why. I know I had that driver covered and so did he, because driving dirty was his only chance. I'd simply race the next and try to put a gap on him so he learns to practice more, rather than drive dirty and rely on ramming.

I had a Canadian fellow with 141 in his handle, using a GSXR4 and I was using the Zonda. I've had this same driver wait on me when leading after he had a bad lap before. He crashes a LOT. I had him covered and passed him during one of his power slides. So he proceeded to ram the walls at Roma at full speed, sliding around them ghosted to make up the gap I put on him each lap. He beat me by .5 seconds. After he did it a second time, I logged off, switched cars and found him again.

He must have saw that I Was also in a GSXR4 now, because he logged off right before the next race even started.

He knows he's beaten already.

That makes it a lot of fun for me. Maybe he learned something, but I doubt it. lol

^^Well said.

People pulling a move like that might get them a few more credits but you both know who really won the race.

Not everyone is like that though. Stick with it and you'll see a lot of people (admittedly, less than the rammers...) who'll give you a clean and respectful race. They make online racing worthwhile if you've got the patience to stick it out and find them.

If you don't need credits, create an Open Lobby with the settings of a Quick Match and put "Quick Match CLEAN ONLY" in the title. As the room owner you can kick dirty drivers from the Player List directly after the race - no vote needed.

You can also kick people who refuse to use a fair vehicle. (ZZII in a race car event, for example, as PD don't let us filter on car type.) There's no point endlessly farming a race that pays about Cr.10,000 so they simply aren't aware of what racing is.

Make sure SRF and Active Steering are off. ;) The other driving aids make you safer and/or slower and are worth keeping.

Once you get a nice group together, Boost: Weak is a subtle yet effective way to keep everyone together. (Known as 'pack racing' in WRS.) Slipstream: Strong also helps make overtakes clean because you don't lose grip and usually get alongside before the braking zone. So you can each pick a lane and a braking point safely.

I just hate it when you have been driving clean the whole race and someone thats been crashing through out the race wins the race cause of boost and slipstream on strong

He's talking about a lobby race, not quick match. Boost and slipstreaming gives you plenty more wheel to wheel action and makes for some close racing with other clean drivers, and being a lobby race, you have control over who you want in the race.

I'm not a fan of either option (if I'm gapping or trying to close a gap on drivers, I want to do it on merit) but they definitely help to keep the racing close.

How does one kick out dirty rivers?

That is also the number one thing for me. Finding the good drivers, making some new friends and having some great racing. I'd rather have an awesome race and get third, than win by 15 seconds any day!

Most QM's you take what you can get and pile up the credits.

I think I have almost 55 Ferarri's and a dozen 250GT's spending credits trying to keep from maxing out. lol

But clean races are the goal!

clean races are the goal!

With all due respect, that's impossible. I love your approach but the real world shows you otherwise. Rallycross, DTM series, even F1, have sometimes some drivers trying to elbow their way thru traffic.

What everybody needs is a reality check and to be honest enough to accept the QM for what it is. Fast drivers caught in traffic will blame the slow guys ahead and viceversa, while everybody is pushing as their skill lets them to do it. Racing is about who gets first to the finish line, and without realistic damage on the cars to penalize the mistakes, is no way to bring some balance and keep people happy other than make everybody ghosts.

Besides that, most of the players don't have any idea about racing regulations or gentlemen agreements in the racing world. They also have no clue about braking points, wave like crazy, reenter the track in front of traffic and don't care about consequences. All what the good players can rely on, are the penalties and their abilities to get upfront.

It is also annoying to find players, relatively good ones, complaining because they were "tapped" and passed by somebody faster. Obviously there is a misunderstanding about the limits in real life, and I invite the doubters to watch, as I mentioned before, some DTM or Rallycross, admire the drivers professionalism and great skill to continuously push hard. Besides the server connection, which may vary, everything else is the same for everybody and like it or not, sometimes you can end up last, some other times you can easily win with no effort.

Do not get me wrong. When people describe how they are cheating or how they must cheat - because that's the way it is, I always remind them about the personal choice, how to use the time spent in the game to learn, improve and get better inside the racing limits of the tracks. I also admit how QM can be chaos sometimes, but you can compete by the racing rules at any moment in time, despite the obstacles or the limitations, and your approach will show maturity, control and strength. Or not.

Play it right and QM can make you better by understanding, anticipating and adapt to the unusual conditions of every race, my friends.

Why so serious? (Sorry just had to...)

Games provide an alternative reality. Open Lobby lets us choose how we want to play and find others who wish to play that way, too. Club Rooms allow an even more selective approach. (There are many clubs on GT Planet which run closed rooms for Club members only, for example.)

How does one kick out dirty [drivers]?
When you are the Room Owner in an Online Lobby and you are not in a race:
  1. You see the menu along the bottom.
  2. Click the player list in the middle. (Icon with 3 people on it.)
  3. Now you can click on any driver in that list.
  4. It shows you their profile page.
  5. There are some menu options on the right.
  6. One of the options is "Kick Player".
  7. Click that and they immediately leave the room.
  8. The chat will simply say "[name] has left the room".
If you are not the Room Owner you can still do this. But it says "Call Kick-Out Vote" or something like that. I think if a few players click this on one person, that person will be kicked.

Has anyone seen what happens when someone is 'called out' to be kicked? I only tried it once or twice and didn't notice anything appear. Maybe they get an icon in the Player List? Or something is added in the chat?

Thanks much. But if you are the owner and you are in a race can you still kick them out?
