Final Quick Match Races 2-7-18

Awesome, hope to see ya some time

Just had a race where a gtr did a 1.37.xxx, is that possible?

Depends on what the triple x stands for

If it's 999 then maybe...but then it was under perfect conditions. Was in a room yesterday when a couple of guys were runnin' low to mid 36...that's with srf on,no doubt:tdown:
Edit,if you see anyone who makes a totall time of less then 5 minutes you can bet your 🤬 he/ she is using srf

Do you remember the driver ?

This community here is a wide knowledge base and SRF users e. g. are mostly well known.
I don't think there's something wrong with exchanging respective info if possible.

Haven't been to Fuji this time yet, the guys remain the same though.

The time difference can be as much as a second, usually because the car wants to spin on every corner. It was at it's worst when a Japanese player entered the room - may be a geographical impact?

Thanks for this - I'll keep an eye on the issue. I remember the influence of Japanese drivers on room grip has been discussed here earlier ...
I always try to keep in mind that it could be some psychological thing ( to me 'cos I read about it ), but I think it's definitely noticable -
crazy that :odd: !

Ran a 4.59.8 in the GTR myself with no SRF in sight. If I eventually managed to put 3 good laps in, it will drop another second too.

I don't like running the GTR though. The BoP is way off with it on a power track like Fuji so I'm trying to get the Z4 into the 5.01's instead... Not the jeans, the time.

Regarding the Japanese dropping the grip level, perhaps it's a cumulative effect with several drivers from far flung countries adding to the problem but without knowing how the connections work, it's impossible to say.

My guess is a minor case of psychosomatic. You see a Japanese flag, instantly think you've got less grip and drive accordingly.💡

Definitely a physical effect, not psychosomatic or psychological - I'm talking about one Japanese player entering the room that had an effect on everybody else in that room, doesn't happen every time that Japanese players join in. It happened the other day when a US driver joined in, and went back to normal when he left.

There is also an effect, again widely reported on here, depending on where you are in a race - being in the lead can sometimes give you way more grip than when running back in the pack (particularly when it's a large field).

Did 4 or 5 races at Monaco - needed a ( what was it ? ) relaxant after Indy.
Left that 51 : 49 balance, guess it's one's personal liking in the end.
Met @BALDY500 and had a few good laps of racing with him.
Hope to get motivated for Bathurst now ... if it only wasn't THAT thrilling :scared:.

@coryclifford
Read you been blowing the rest away, what about your setup :D ?
Yea i like way you were taking it easy on the first lap getting me excited thinking im doing well here then the next two were hammer time & you were gone! LoL

Monaco's good but do yourself a favour, shop around for a decent set of racers. I had an hour racing there this afternoon and lost count of the amount of brake checks and wall squeezes done to me. Not pretty. Had to bait and feint for almost every pass but very rewarding seeing them go for a ram and brake checks in the place's where I used to be.:D
Thanks for the advice. The only differance is im not fast enough to worry the brake & blockers lol

I already told you yesterday, you WERE doing well there ! I don't just bla bla. If you hadn't had that slight dang on the wall, I couldn't have got past you 👍 !

I've moved my ballast too now - how much weight have you added?

I think the whole car is 903 kg - I'm at work so I can't have a look now.

The grip effects box :

I think there's a row of different effects. I've encountered each one that's been mentioned and more, e. g. grip loss when you run close behind another car ( don't say "slipstream" ;) ). And all these might even mix up during a race. So ... sigh ... don't know ...

I didn't mean any offence, hence the laughing smiley. Dry humour getting me in trouble again?:(

I can only put it down to good timing and good internet for the reason I've never encountered it. It can't be geographically based though. Maybe you've been unlucky enough to meet individuals with astronomical pings dragging the overall performance down.

The lack of info on how the QM's work doesn't help. As in is there a single host (first person in the driver list) or is there direct peering with the person closest to you on track? The latter sounds right for the symptoms but one of my favourite ways of playing QM is pausing on the grid to drop to the back and then trying to fight my way through but I've still not experienced it...or maybe I'm just not good enough to notice the difference.

Anyway, I'm guessing but please don't take what I said in the earlier post as an insult. It wasn't meant as such. I'll keep looking for what you're seeing.

Don't worry, no offence taken - I knew what you were trying to say! I'd hazard a guess that it's the better drivers that are less likely to notice it :)

Phew! I thought I'd gone in two footed again...

Getting a bad habit of not wording things too well lately and need to proof read a lot more before clicking the post reply button.

Nothing wrong with your pace my friend.👍

I'd love to see you race with a ruthless streak though as you're a much better driver than you think. Get stuck in!:lol:

Awrighty folks. Just back to racing after a bit of an abstinence.

Oh dear! Could go faster going backwards. Tried Monaco in the Roadster and I was like a pinball machine with those barriers.

Need some practise.

@coryclifford How're you doing with Bathurst? Setting the pace as usual? I'm planning on running a lot of races there over the weekend so hopefully we'll meet up. Grandkids have worn me out so I'm taking a couple of days off until then.

There's a decent tune for the Mazda if you want to try it. It might not be perfect out of the box for you but it's a hell of a base to work from.

Swap the high RPM turbo for the supercharger, add around 100KG's of ballast (set it between 25 to 35 for stability) and hit the limiter for 464pp. From what I saw, most people are either going light or using the turbo so it should give you a decent leg up.👍

Yeah kinda. Except for the obvious SRF poopheads. Still not much wheel time, and as usual lately, worn out and tired, so I don't last long. That's what I used to tell all the girls, too.

The set up I posted works pretty good for me. Haven't bothered tweaking it.

Edit: I meant to mention that the best approach to Bathurst is be confident. Trust the car. Well, knowing the proper line helps too, but when you do, trust the 530 PP car. 530 isn't really too high for a race car. Trust it will hang in there.

Nice one mate.

Was using a tune I had for the old Tsukuba 464pp setup from a good couple of months ago. Think I got it here. Might have tinkered with it a bit, not sure.
Seems I did an oil change which lowers the BHP by about 5, drat.

Thanks to whoever sussed that cheeky wee number out. Much obliged.

When I typed it all out I did it in a Sean Connery accent & you should to if you give it a go. If you do it right you will wet yerself laughing like I did.

Ahh, Maxch Schpeed Q. Schet it to...

Anyway.

Got home from work and decided to first set up PSN accounts on the new PS4 and get me my PS+ subscription, then do
some more Monaco laps. The former became somewhat lengthy and irritating with the PS4 structure being quite different
and it didn't make me feel better when I noticed that I had a 2-year-history of messages from people I never heard of knowingly :odd: !
At some point I had the engine of my trusty yellow Mazda Roadster running on the PS3 and a heck of a heap ( correct ? @MOPARbarrett5 )
of messages from curlygurlxD and her teen friends ( Hello, how are you ? ) on the PS4 not knowing what should get my interest.

:boggled: :irked: :ill: :yuck:

So it was ping pong for the rest of the night. Apologies to @Rizla - I left after only 2 races - but I heard curlygurlxD asking what I
was doing tonight :grumpy: !

No danger mate. The race I came 2nd to you I think I was at least 16+ seconds behind, maybe more & dealing with the multi ball.:lol::lol:

Out of curiosity. Did you go for the Slim or the Pro?

I've got the opposite problem. Bored out of my mind stuck in the house all the time so all I've got is GT6 and reading too many books. Retirement sucks.

Regarding the Bathurst line, getting The Cutting right has been the biggest challenge for me as it makes or breaks my lap. Too hot cooking the tires and too safe costing too much momentum up the hill. I usually try and take the middle ground for low 05's instead and keep the risky line for if I ever need it. Most of the time, I'm well up on the field and don't need to risk it. Not very often (if ever) I get to say that...

Out of the 100's (if not 1000's) of laps I've done here though, I think I've only done The Dipper right a handful of times. Usually going in too hot and losing front grip. Watching my 4.6 lap looks like I'm threading a needle but it's easily my favourite section of track in the entire game.

It's funny, I often think that you write your posts with a Glaswegian accent - can almost hear it as I read them

I spent 1 day per month up there in the last few years before I retired, so am well acquainted with the accent!

Looks like you could have an interesting time with curlygurlxD if she's the one that comes up on the only post listed on Google!

You might want to stick to GT.....

Easy to say... you're tune (thx) helps me a little, but I'm still fighting with that :banghead: soap car on Bathurst. My driving way in the corkscrew sector is so particular ... make me sick  after 10 laps. and I'm not talking about the poor guys who follow me. Afraid they are . They wonder if I drive only by looking through the side windows.

Hard to be confident with a machine that teaches you how to fly barely you flirt out of the trajectory.

Megane, if you hear me, I never give up :mischievous: ! you'll be mine ! just a question of time.
