First Car Suggestions? Daewoo FTW. Nothing else Matiz. Oh, and ExigeExcel's Almera.

I can't wait to ghostride the whip in one of these:

Mine is white.

Insurance isnt too bad if you are named, especially if its a primera and a diesel at that.

My next year premium should "only" be £1500 :D

Have fun insuring that.

 Its not hard at all here. A reliable FWD sedan with a four-banger? Cake. It'll be slightly more expensive than a Camry. :P

Evan, you're one to talk about single mothers being attracted to ones car.

I'm missing the funny. Subaru jokes are the suck.

Honda jokes are much better, especially when they're about perfume soaked Del-Sol's.

Thats a great mod Danny, when does vtac kick in?

All you need now are some plastic spinners for your wheels, some LED washer jets and your car would be teh awesome

I'm still waiting for VTAC (!) to kick in. But srsly my car doesn't feel as slow as it undoubtedly is. The biggest problem is overtaking. It needs to be meticulously planned, and timed perfectly. Usually by which time I'm split-seconds away from hitting the car in front which, I have failed to notice, has braked and come to a gentle stop. Luckily the Type R badge also upgrades my brakes and drivetrain.

Oh, and I've had my first motorway trip in it too. 70mph without a porblem. It's ridiculously noisy, but pretty comfy.

I am so tempted to buy an ///M badge just to upset you all.

My sister's Daewoo surprises me too. Her engine has 131hp/148 ft./lb. of torque and the low end power & responsiveness is surprising.

they should make overtaking in a one liter against the law. your best bet is taking a run up instead of sticking behind someones bumper.

It's not even a liter!

That's the thing though, in low gears it has loooads of push (perhaps owing to the fact it's the size of a shoe) but it lacks top end shove.

Taking a run-up is sort of what I have to do. I know I have good reason to be going slowly, but when I'm stuck behind an old dear with 100hp more than she needs.

I don't overtake often, but that is one thing that would prompt me.

Thanks very much Danny, I'm not goin to start a thread though. I'll just get all the old folk lecturing me about how thsi is merely the start of my driving experience and I'm by no means an accomplished driver yet etc.

And I didn't mean you daan ;)

Now you have no excuse not to visit Yorkshire. :)

So go on, how many minors? :D

Yeah I do, the fact it's so bloody expensive and far away. Now reasons to not go to UKGTP...

And only 3 :D Minor for my emergency stop, signals, and mirror each.

Doesn't the test in some states not even require on-road driving?

Not for the learner's license. Basically, the learner's license is everything of a regular license test minus the actual driving. Then, you take the separate driving test when you're ready to get your whole license. People who are under 18 have to wait a whole year, though.

Wow, I got majorly pwnt today.

Tyre failure at 45mph.

lolololol.

Edit: The AA man could conclude that the reason for this was that VTAK did not kick in.

Ooohhh, that tyre looks quite fresh aswell, hope your MaD tYte rims ain't damaged :sly:

[EDIT] And why were you doing 45? couldn't reach the big 5-0 :D

No, they're in fine working order for picking up

:)

After i had pulled into a safe area, I got out to see what the damage was and there was smoke and the smell of burning rubber billowing out. I was liek "lol"

Perhaps a brand new set of tyres is in order. Do Pirelli P Zero's come in my size? :sly:

Driving less than 4 weekd and already had my first ding, yay! :grumpy:

Parked in a very quiet Mcdo, went to reverse out, car was pretty misted up (4 players fresh after footy in it). my 3 other mates had all moved out of their spaces and I assumed had gone. WRONG. One of them was stopped right behind me, as a joke to block me in. Biig mistake... I reverse back slowly knowing I can't see **** but not seeing any lights to suggest otherwise *DING* Nice big dent on kerbside door. No paint damage, but a nice big dent, to match the one on the other side.

Almera however, is fine.
