I'm actually excited for you. I went from a G29 to the DD1 and was blown away and even more so on ACC and GT7. Still by far my fave new thing is the pedal travel and linearity. Once you hook up the Fanatec gear you'll see. Especially given the new physics.

Although it does seem they've gone more towards proper steering angles instead of introducing good slip angle. It's taking some adjustment because I'm a more tail happy driver by nature.
The pedal linearly is what’s giving a lot of people trouble because GTS it was not sensitive at all vs GT7… I’m loving the new driving dynamics!

All tracks are unlocked at menu book 36 apparently. That’s all I’m aiming at. I don’t see any point in doing anything after that. Hopefully by then there will be a gr3 race c and we can see if I have enough credits to enter.

Ditto. A little nostalgia doing road car upgrades but I'm growing tired. Should still keep me occupied while I build the PC and start collecting parts to upgrade to a better experience. I can't race irl anymore and I desperately crave 180 degrees FOV, proper lighting and whatever other neat toys I stumble across.

I had the same thought upon first play but I love it. I'm such a throttle steer type guy. I actually wish my V3 pedals had a bit more brake travel. I bet the CSl pedals with LC will work very well and it definitely seems like they catered to the load cell crowd. I think the lower travel lesser end pedals are going to struggle in finesse with the new dynamics. But yeah, I'm digging it for what it is.

Yea I’m already looking for new pedals..my gas pedal is way to light for that type of sensitivity I have adjusted but it’s a pain on how little force it take to push down the pedal.

Last comment is a good sign too. I’m a front end feel driver: I want to load up the fronts on entry and then balance it thru the turn, working the limit of front end grip… so I’m really looking forward to how the DD and GT7 provide for a better sim feel. It was nonexistent in GTS but even with the G29 there’s a big improvement on GT7. Don’t expect I’ll be on your level for pace though, even with the better physics model! Thanks for the insight!

I guess too many years of drag racing and dirt bikes lead to it. Although I did build a neat little turbo autocross fwd car in the late 90's.

I might out pace in clean air but I bet you trump me in racecraft. I need to work on it bad. Too bad you're not a PC guy. Once I go that route I'll be looking for a training partner to make a series effort in GT world challenge stuff.

In the meantime once GT7 opens up more and I do lobbies feel free to jump in.

True that. Hope you find something good!

I like GT7 a lot, it feels different then GTS thats for sure. The Car is more vivid you can ''feel' the Car, much more than it was with GTS.
...what i am me asking is what will happen when we finish up all the Menu Books, will the ''career'' finish ?

The GT Cafe part is done. But then you still have all the Missions, Licences, Circuit Experiences, Cups per track etc.

And maybe there will be new additions to the GT Cafe in future updates.. who knows.

And the wonderful Custom Race Mode.

I made a comparison between GT Sport on ps4 pro and GT7 on ps5.

N24 circuit, custom race at sunset (what the game sets as the sunset preset) clear weather.
Racing in the GR.3 Lexus RC F (BoP) against Pro AI, starting 20th, 35 meter starting interval.
Video and sound switches back and forth between the two races with replay footage in between.

  • It seems graphics are a bit more stretched vertically in GT7 as if the aspect ratio is slightly different.
  • Far less tire noise in GT7 but more detailed sound effects when driving over kerbs.
  • The AI is slightly faster in GT7, I didn't have to brake as much not to run into the AI.
  • The track is less bumpy in GT7 but maybe it reflects improvements made to the ring since GT Sport came out.

GT Sport: finished first with 8:53.7 time, however you start 22.7 seconds back compared to GT7 and the time starts right away.
GT7: finished third with 8:26.7 time, yet since the counter starts later, the difference is only 4.3 seconds.

I entered the straight in third in both races. In GT Sport the AI rolled over and I could draft pass them both. In GT7 I could not catch up with the AI while right in the slipstream 0.3 sec behind. The AI did make a draft pass in GT7, in GT Sport the AI never tried and 2nd stayed out of the slipstream of first.

Payout is much higher in GT Sport

I don't know whether GT7 has BoP applied, the car is lighter with less power in GT7. Perhaps I have to buy upgrade parts first before BoP can be applied. It says apply BoP in the top left corner but can't click it. No information there.

Anyway, add dynamic weather and it's hard to go back to the static track in GT Sport!
Now to grind for a GR.1 an GR.C car, although I have no idea where to even find the GR.C cars.

Driving physics are different. I felt the car having more stopping power (slightly shorter brake distance) in GT7 and more grip on the edge of the track. However the rear tends to break out sooner in GT7.

Played quite a bit last night, got to CAFE 12 or so i think. The FF and AWD cars feel good, though there's a LOT of weight transfer so controller users are really going to struggle as the game emphasizes super smooth inputs. The RWD cars are a real handful, to say the least.

On a base PS4 the game still looks quite good but the load times are brutal, not helped at all by the absolutely infuriating UI. The fact you cannot upgrade your car within the race menu and need to go out to the garage is just infuriating, soooooooooooooooooooo much clicking and loading.

Not sure why we need the whole CAFE thing, it just slows you down, we just need a menu grid with all the races line dup. The game is getting lost in it's own navel a bit, needs to be more clinical and user friendly.

How bad is the rubber banding? Mucking about on GTS and it's disgustingly bad 10-12% difference between trailing and leading. So some races go from far too easy until you pass then can become nearly impossible.

The mini race at goodwood is brutal, there's a red one that lags behind all race then last lap suddenly goes all turbo mode and is dead set pulling 2 to 3 seconds on you on the straights. It's absurd.

Just had the porsche race on the nurburgring…. It rained for 1 minute on the north of the tracks. Then the rest of the track was dry. Wow, that’s fantastic!
I just got that one as well in Menu Book 31. It is really dynamic, different across the two races I did.

First I did Spa which was dry for the first 2 laps then started raining which turned into torrential downpour in lap 3 and 4. Sports Softs were not up to the task, sliding everywhere. The sound of the rain made me shiver! In Lap 5 the rain eased up and the sun started poking through the clouds. Dry lines formed, and the car ahead leaves a trail as well. Amazing.

On the Nordschleife, first it was dry until the last third of the track. Torrential downpour soon began so I slowed down, more cautious this time not to spin out. Somehow the car still spun on the final straight, while driving straight in 6th gear, not applying full throttle. Maybe I hit a puddle? It was a bit weird, it just started going with no stopping it.

Second attempt it started raining much earlier, not long after Aremberg. Water slowly accumulated on the track, now I know what the new gauge is in the HUD, rain meter. Then it eased up before reaching the final straight and the track dried enough to survive the long straight.

Great stuff, however that Porsche really likes to go ass first in GT7... Getting there, 4 tracks left to unlock. No Sarthe yet.

Understood, but it's always been easier for me to spot a set of orange double cones at high speed than to read the numbers on the boards.

I know I’m the same, and it’s almost impossible to remember all the corners and in which cars.

Watching the next gear indicator helps me no end in lifting off and buying a second or two to judge when to brake.

The flashing gear indicator is all messed up in GT7. It worked quite well in GT Sport, 2 blinks, then brake. In GT7 you're often already too late when it starts blinking.

I've moved up to faster cars now. Somehow I find it much easier to judge braking distance at higher speeds. At least the single player doesn't care at all about short cuts or ramming the walls :/ Clean race bonus for everyone! (You only lose it when you ram another car, 200mph into the wall is clean!)

Hi, not been here in some years, As for GT7 only got it yesterday, still no real opinion on it yet, not keen on menues, stipp only played for a couple of hours, 20 some years on from start of Gran Turismo, my skills are not great now at age 65 lol

I start to lift and try to brake before it flashes now, you may have to lighter brake if you’ve gone to early but it reduces the understeer and panic braking.

The race stuff that time is way shorter from when it shows to blinking but if it’s blinking and you haven’t started to brake it’s usually too late by then for me at least.
