First in game look at "standard" cars in Granturismo 6

I can only hope the standards at least get the same upgrades or modifications (bodykits, carbon hood, wheel sizes etc) the premiums get. That would be more than wonderful for "customization".

I have to book off to work, but Kaz did say, I think at the Silverstone unveil, that the Standards wouldn't be standard anymore, and get the same modification options as the Premiums. Or most of them. Surely some industrious googler can find it within a few.

Mods for all those standard cars seems highly improbable, we should already be glad if they revised the jaggy edges and updated the worst looking ones.

Both Countaches, Cizeta and Corvette C2 were present in GT5 but they are shown on the list as new cars. Maybe it's a mistake? I hope that there are many more hidden premiums on the list;)

Secret premiums?

I don't think there is any secret premiums. The Cizeta, the C2 Corvette, and others are counted as new cars because they are obviously counting all new premiums as new cars, even if they were previously in game as standards.

It says the cars list is subject to change, but I suspect that the Toyota GT2000 and the Sauber Mercedes are just improved standards. The Toyota GT2000 does look more detailed in the trailer, however it's just a trailer, and it still looks like it has the window tint of standard cars.

"No functional differences" was the operative phrase I believe.

The hood vent also looks like it's actually modeled now instead of just being a texture with shading to make it look like it's a vent.

Where as you did state a good point, I personally think it still looks a little rough around the edges on the top right pic....even with the bad quality pic. How much was this pic magnified? I assume it is a stillshot right?

Edit: but then again in the upper left the Mazda has similar jaggies to the Merc which we know is premium ...maybe it is just the pic quality. Whatever find out soon I guess

We all know standards won't be that ungodfully different than they were in GT5, there is a limited number of people, and a lot of standard cars, the most i think we can really hope for is cleaned up at least the major areas of yucky-ness (for lack of a better term). I'll honestly just be happy as long as we can finally put carbonfiber hoods on them, have at least minor (even if they are defaults) bodykits. I'm guessing though since mechanically they'll be the "same," so probably working headlights and wipers and ability to zoom in on them will be the only major change, but just a guess.

Without direct feed videos, we can't really judge how much has been improved on those standard cars.
We will get to know about this in around 2 weeks' time! :dopey:

EDIT: I really hope the headlamps of standard cars can be adjusted like the premium ones, with high beam available. 👍

There is one point in the video (around the 5:50 mark) where the guy next to him catches up a 2 second gap all of a sudden with a standard Nissan Pennzoil GTR, because it is almost at a standstill at the apex of the corner.

To me it seems:

-Standards still look exactly the same as in GT5 (PS2 quality).
-AI is still slow and comes to a standstill mid corner...
-Engine sounds still sound the same as GT5.

GT5.5 it is gentlemen :dopey:, do hope the reviews will prove me wrong but i doubt it.

Have you seen Jordan's latest video? In the replay the AI seem pretty improved over GT5. Not perfect, but improved.

So, because 3 things haven't been improved among a flurry of other improvements it's suddenly not a standalone game?

No offence but you must be joking; he starts dead last (yes chase the rabbit mode makes a welcome return), and passes practically the whole field in the first lap, including an Audi R8 LMP1?

Look how much he gains at the braking points, and how much cars he passes round the outside...

:odd:

Go to official site and read what changes they have made in past 3yrs from gameplay to graphics engine to the structure with the menu and so on. It is impossible to do these things via patch or updates.

The speed of the AI suggests that it was being played on a low difficulty setting (remember that GT5 has 3 difficulty settings when racing in Arcade Mode for example) - so not really a surprise to see a relatively-quick driver slicing through the field.

The AI certainly fight back a lot more than GT5 though, so that's definitely a massive bonus, something we'd never see presently. I like! 👍

Guys, I don't know. I'm REALLY against an opinion that you can't tell, for example quality of standard cars from "crappy youtube" video. It was oblivious from those videos, as well as low-res shadows. Maybe someone need to start really LOOK at them, rather arguing about video quality.
