First in game look at "standard" cars in Granturismo 6

Guys. Just think about it. Why do you think PD makes Vitz and such cars premium? Because they will need them for GT7. There's no way using these PS2 models on PS4... However, they probably won't just throw them away I bet, because they already revamped the physics of all of them and upgrading to premium from "standard" is fair more easier than modeling a whole new car from the ground.

So. Enjoy GT6 for everything that's new and look forward to GT7 with approximately 500-600 cars. I'm happy.

Is it better to remove them and only have 400 cars? I mean, when racing, you usually dont stare at the cars taillights, its about the driving!

Yes, I think it's better to remove them, and 400 cars is still a lot. Some like them and some don't.

But why do you care if there are standard cars? I mean you dont have to use them?!
They do appear in races though, and it kind of breaks the immersion. Hopefully in GT6 due to the increased amount of Premiums you don't see as many in a 16 car grid.

I hope they've improved the Cerbera, that was one of the worse ones. But otherwise it appears they're pretty much the same as they were in GT5.

But alot of cars I really like are standards (or atleast they where in GT5)

Same for me but I still don't like standard cars. Solution is that PD should select their premium cars more carefully. There is so much fluff on the GT6 car list that people never requested.

Exactly. The solution shouldn't be "keep all popular cars standard cars around." It should be "remake popular standards as premium." As much as PD wants us to believe there are no real differences, there are. And that difference is enough to make me never drive many cars I would love to drive in real life.

I still can't believe why Sony thinks it's a wise decision to keep the standard cars in the series. Seeing these pictures really make me reconsider whether I want this game.
I can only agree with this, wtf are PS2 era models from 8 years ago doing in a 2013 game? 400 premium models would have been more than enough to fit everyone's taste...

And those 400 cars are in ;) Plus the 800 standard cars for people not thinking like you who care about the main thing of gran turismo, the driving experience...

To be fair, those pictures looked a lot better in motion. Especially the TVR. I thought it was premium because you can see right through the window.

That's what i was thinking, 400 is pretty much and i would be more than happy with that amount of cars.

The contrast between a premium and standard is just too big in my opinion, even when the materials of the models are refurbished. I would rather see the standard cars disappear than looking at something that doesn't line up next to a fully detailed premium model.

And i hope that the silhouette interiors either go or get updated to a decent interior, you can have all those new nifty features etc but with such a contrast in quality of the models it makes it still feel like the game is rushed. That's really the only thing that bothers me.

My toughts exactly

Funny, I would think those 800 standards are in purely to impress people who are wowed by large numbers and don't mind paying $60 for an unfinished product. They don't care about quality or even cars in general, for that matter. Because if they did, they wouldn't settle for seeing their favorite cars rendered so poorly.

Not saying I believe that, but if you can make a massive generalization, so can I. ;)

People please realize that the only difference aside from looks is the lack of detailed interior. There are entire racing games that have no interior view. That sounds like mods to the cars should be available (in addition to wheels and rear wings like GT5). If thats the case, I do wonder how detailed the standards will be compared to the wheels, wings, bodykits etc.

I think it's certain that this is the standard vehicles' last stand. So regardless of your position, say your sappy (or not so sappy) goodbyes to many of them, as this might very well be your last chance to drive some of them. We should at least remember that at one time, in one moment in GT's history, these cars were the pinnacle of graphics, and during that far away time, they were very special, shiny, pristine and perfect; and for some gamers, they still evoke that warm feeling from years ago.

At any rate, I hope many will be rescued from the rusty prison cell that is "standardhood", eventually.....Jaguar XJ220, Supra RZ, RUF CTR Yellow Bird, CTR2, Corvette C1, C4, Saleen S7, etc.... :)

Bitter sweet?

Played through GT2-3-4 and 5. I really don't care about the number. I still think that the 'other' game got better car selection and general quality. HOWEVER,

I really love those standard cars. They are very unique and somehow gives me cosiness. WRX STi Wagon, Galant VR-4, BMW 330i and other, lets call them, odd cars.
Call me crazy or whatever, but I generally drive standards more than premiums. So whole discussion being generalized to 'PD has to drop them ASAP, and just delivery the game with 400 premiums' shouldn't be treated as the only truth.

It is really hard to justify that kind of quality of cars on PS3, but losing all those great cars is too hard either. I totally understand, that quality vs quantity is an important topic, however I tend to notice that quality lovers feels entitled and think that their opinion is the only one which should be important, cause you know, PS2 models on PS3 and all that yada-yada.

EDIT: And seriously. At least standards can be avoided through the career on some level. Whereas in case of scraping the standards, fans like me would be totally destroyed.

To finish up my rant, I probably would have been super disappointed if GT6 was delivered with 400 premiums. That's execatly the main reason why 'the other game 5' is out of my must have list this/next year.

peace

I didnt made a massive generalization, but when it comes to ,,driving cars'' some jagged taillights or other car parts simple doesnt matter. Maybe because, while driving, you wont zoom in the taillight of your car or search for other faults in car modelling.

To me it counts that i can drive for example a nissan primera, which looks like a nissan primera, has the performance of a nissan primera and handles like one. I drive in cockpit or bonnet view, so it doesnt matter how bad detailed the car is from the outside!

Even in replays you wont be killed by those mean jaggys, the only problem with the standards will close up pictures in photomode.

And why do people alwas say that gt5/6 is an ,,unfinished product''?
Is a need for speed whatever unfinished because it has only 50 cars and not 700? Or because the graphics arent that great? Or because it doesnt sound realistic? Ot maybe because it doesnt have the fully modelled 700.000 polygon trees everybody wants?...

...NO its not! Its the game how it was made, finished and all. Just because a GT5 has evolved 2 years long through updates it doesnt mean it ever was unfinished. A need for speed doesnt get many updates not because its finished but because the makers just didnt care.
Polyphony cares, but instead that the people are honoring that all they do is rant, whine and calling GT5 an unfinished product!

Well, if GT5 was conisered a finished product at release, then it certainly wasn't a good one. GT5 1.00 is a train wreck. And yes, GT6 will not be finished when it releases. Features like better sounds, course maker, and B-Spec are coming in a later update.

It's like Gran Turismo 3 having 30% actual Gran Turismo 3 cars, and 70% polished up Gran Turismo 2 cars (a blunt comparison but this is kind of what we have right now). It's the quality gap in cars that bothers me, either roll with the Standard car models, or ditch that and roll with the premium models. Not both, it makes the whole in-game experience messy, i am watching a replay with realistic looking cars and cars that look like it's made of cardboard (CLK DTM for example) It just doesn't look good.

Ok, then its PD fault to update their game. So when they dont do anything for the game after the release its a ,,finished'' product and otherwise when the keep the game growing its called ,,unfinished''? Well, in that case i rather have an unfinished gt6 ;)
