Don't forget when we *this has been omitted do to it's graphic depictions, and poor taste in humor. We apologize for this, and the mater will be delt with. Thank you. ... and you should have seen the donkey's face. WOW what a time :dopey:
How does the saying go...? A good friend will bail you out of jail, but a great friend will be in the same cell as you saying "Man, that was fun!"

Are we any closer to knowing if @Motor City Hami is going to be able to run the next contest? Not getting impatient or anything, just trying to keep tabs on things in case we need to throw something together in the meantime 👍

I am ready now. I should be able to post round one tonight for Focus. Trying to keep cost down for the test drivers. Round one will be the 2013 Focus ST vs. the 2006 Focus ST. Which version is better, new or old?

How about a FITT event where testers would only test a vehicle that was tuned using the same controller type. Wheel users would test the cars tuned for wheels and DS3 users would test cars tuned for DS3s.

Thoughts?

It would be unique but my only question, would we have enough wheel users for tuning/ testing?

You could say the same thing for AT or MT transmission users.

Which is almost the same thing. I found it almost impossible to manually shift with a DS3, but effortless with a wheel.
I'm a DS3 user that shifts manually and uses the default setting for everything else.
I've tried other settings but after 15 years of GT & other driving games using the same method, old habits die hard.

No further along with developing an event format, the car specs are pretty much decided though. Let me have a think on the way into work 👍

I'd have to get used to driving those bad boys, they stick better than expected. All my braking points and turn ins have to change!

They're certainly a bit different to the norm :sly: Just like the cars they're trying to replicate, there's a bucket load of grip available, but when it goes, it goes in a hurry!!

In terms of the event format, I had wanted to run it a little like a mini-championship, so that tuners have to build cars to withstand racing conditions, rather than our usual time trial conditions. A car that's focused on stability rather than pure pace will likely do better. The biggest obstacle is to find sufficient testers/race drivers willing to participate over a number of weeks. In an ideal world, I'd like to pair up a 'mechanic' and a 'driver' and have them work together over the course of two to four races. The driver would then compete against three other drivers. Ideally, the four competitors would use one each of the four cars available. With suitable interest, we could then match mechanic/drivers geographically in groups of four, so they can race against each other.

I've got the number four stuck in my head for this one. Four cars, four tracks over four weeks. Brands Hatch GP is a given, and to give it an international feeling I thought Bathurst, Laguna Seca and possibly Suzuka? I just don't know if we can get eight people together for the EU, the US and AU regions, let alone four drivers of comparable skill. It's perhaps a tad ambitious...

Maybe not races, but hot lap system :) Each track venue lasts a week, where the team has to post quickest lap time in a SINGLE session online SOLO Race with limited lap given, say 10 laps max, tire wear can be used, the team MUST save the replay as proof. The quickest mechanic/driver team will have the highest point, a simple point system, like 25 for 1st, 20 for 2nd etc. Then combined with DC score. Just a little brain storming.

Scheduling might be difficult, but I'd throw my hat in the ring for a driver! The wife & daughter have changed their stable times, so I'd be looking at Saturday afternoons now. EU time of course!
Edit:
Just thought, if my playing time doesn't match with others, I'd gladly switch to the crew chief!

I personally prefer race cars, not "hot lap cars", so I'm definitely for racing, the unexpected, the surprise, competition emotions, when it's about the cars. 👍

I like racing too, used to be very active in GT5 parity racing, where the cars are in same lap time bracket, and all that matters is driver skill/ race craft :P Won a race on my first outing with a Countach at Monza against F40s, Ferrari 330 P4, Zondas etc, hosted by Johnnypenso ( his Deadnutseven Racing Club ) Good ol' times :D Shame I can't get online now, 1.09 :grumpy: A 1 on 1 Touge style battle, but not on touge track

Yes, yes, this what I'm talking about. 👍

This is what I was after. We're used to building cars that can achieve good laptimes on their own, but often these cars are too fragile to use during proper racing. Touring car racing often involves contact, whether that be unintentional or tactical :mischievous:

Once I get some time later, I'll start a fresh thread in the Tuning forum to see what sort of interest we can generate. It would be great if we could 3 teams of 4 racing around the world...

Very well said, my friend. 👍 If we just think about a sudden braking at an unusual zone of the track, for example, how will the car behave?! :ouch: :scared:

For those who would like to see all of the FITT Challenges list from post #4 updated, I have gathered all of the challenges that I could find right now. I can also keep this post up to date if anyone would like me to.

Good job, might be worth putting in a thread by itself so it can be updated and referred to easily 👍

I love how the FITT Miata Challenge is seen as not being realistic. Though I established realistic power and weight, realistic restrictions to added parts and yet it's not enough. So the only differences that I can see in Hicky's idea is ABS zero, no LSD tuning (because that's somehow a crutch for tuners) and softer tires (which makes tuning more simple). Am I missing something?
