I dont think that changing engines is kind of like taking shortcut, and I think that it would kind of ruin tuning for me. However, I do like the idea of changing tyre sizes.
Why not? real life racers do it regularly. Take a small car and drop a high rpm engine in it or like a friend of mine did about 15 years ago drop a 350? hemi in a metro... Got one run out of it, it licoriced the frame. What can I say about that...red neck with a engine and body that didn't match...that's trouble.

I have always believed that cars have engines that are made for them, and that these engines are the best engines for that car. It is probably just that I like cars to be as near %100 original as possible.

Anyway, in this comp what tyres should be the limit?

I hear ya on the parts but.
As for tires unlimited just have to budget them. Same with all other parts just have to stay on budget. So with the proposed budget above you could fit RS tires and a flywheel and driveshaft and maybe the LSD. But the rest of the car would be stock.
It would prolly be a good idea to have a list of cars to keep costs down for testers.

I'd agree with a small list of cars, but would put a cap on tires pending cars chosen/performance points. I'd say between 500-550pp with a max of Sport/Hard that isnt included in the budget...if you go with too much HP then you run the risk of overpowering the tires? With running stock cars 450/500pp at the Apricot Hill seasonal, there are a few cars that just struggle/slide based on the tires under them. Still winning though!:sly: (The Jags and Astons are difficult at 450pp, far too fat!)

Would it be a good idea to have an assortment of drivetrains within the car list?

Well power can over come agility if the difference is large enough, but not most of the time. In a mobile game played for while we would have intra team challenges where it was one or two cars with a total cost limit and you needed to find the best set up and tune for the cars, it wouldn't be hard to do that in GT6.

Part costs are set for all cars so it's just the cost of the car that would be variable. Hence why I suggested a increase on tires, as part for part tires have the largest impact on time. And that is amplified if the power and weight are set or limited.
If say we pitted a rocket vrs a X bow, at Brands Hatch GP 600 pp equivalent who ever manges to work the most power with highest tires will win it. Unless the tune is crap but that is not likely to happen this far in FITT challenges.

And honestly a free for all tuning challenge with no restrictions just a budget would be good fun. No set pp, power or weight just a increase in the cost of tires over a certen level. Say SH come on the car you can put SM at cost but SS and up are double in cost so RH tires would run 42k I think if the budget is only 60k on parts that basicly eats your budget to nothing and your going to be running stock power with a suspension and LSD upgrade.

The only thing I would suggest is a Google sheet be made that gives you a total cost for the parts installed so you can make sure you're under budget.

I am really liking the sound of this. There would be so many different combos made, and so many different results, and it would probably be the person who experiments the most that wins the overall event.

It would be likely to find a very large selection of cars that differentiate in their purposes: Power down straights; stability in corners, and everything in between. It is likely that the choice of whether or not to install an LSD would be the most crucial and hard decision to make for everyone.

The only problem i see is that some cars would not really need custom suspension and could do perfect with just a hard or soft suspension kit, and this would save tons of money; giving the contestant an advantage money wise.

True enough but that is part of the challenge if you find that a hard or soft suspension works very well with the car allowing you out softer tires on good for the car and you. Than its depends on how well you balance power, LSD and weight with your remaining money.

I am

very curious my self based on some comments in a different thread as why he would put a particular link in.

He updated some of the first few post on the tuning guide with links :

I don't know what it really means, maybe just a clue to the cause of the closing of the garage and removal of tuning guide. Have they been having issue for long time ?

i'm not gonna speculate, there's no point. I think he's too classy/grown up to share and possibly start another something. hopefully he comes back soon.

It's weird that cargo ratt edited every post in his own garage but that happened months ago. i personally think it's crazy that someone would be able to make a well rounded person quit a forum or a community as good as what you find in the tuning forum. a sad day for sure.

Quite possible it's a clue. I am not going to touch that guess.

@GTP_CargoRatt stater he closed it due to constant harassment from a few other members here.

It was too sudden, no one would have guessed it. Probably too much drama from camber threads .... :(
Quite possible they have a mine field of opions as of late.

I was thinking of ways to get a boost of new faces in here (not that I don't like you guys ;)) and what do you guys think about a fitt collaboration garage ? I'm thinking we take some of the more popular cars and release a wide range of tunes for that car. An example would be the Lotus 111r. We could have 4 guys each do a tune and release a 450,475,500,and 525pp version to cover a wide base of needs. A lot of people visit the tuning forum just once or twice when just looking for a setup and it would be a way to possibly get some new traffic through a fitt thread.

^^^ Sounds great.

Expanding on that idea would be have four or five people do a tune at the same pp level on different tracks covering different tuning requirements, than pull a @Motor City Hami and average the settings to get a "optimal" tune, in theory by taking the average of five tuners with different styles on different tracks it would create a near perfect all arounder.

i think that's kind of limiting though as far as what i'm suggesting. I'm thinking like someone coming in and needing "X" car. and instead of finding a tune and then having to add 50pp worth of power to it, they can just choose the tune that was built with that amount of power from the get-go.

Very true that is one of the hard parts of the tuning garages is finding the right pp level for a car.

We could both tune a wide variety of pp levels and than do the "super" tune at the most popular pp level.

that works, if i don't get it setup befor i leave for work, i will do it when i get home. i suggest we start with a lotus. it's one of the most popular cars. I already have a 450 and a nearly done 500. anyone that wants to put up a 475, 525, and 500. just let me know here. we will need a 2nd car also. perhaps the mclaren mp4 ? is was last months CoTM so there should be a few tunes ready. mine is 550 and I think they went up to 650 in that thread. any other car suggestions would be great too.

lotus 111r
450pp - imtolegittoquit
475pp -
500pp - bowtie-muscle
525pp -

mclaren mp4
550pp - imtolegittoquit
600pp - otaliema
650pp - dolhaus

I have a 500pp 111r in my garage if you would like to add it.

I would look at the car of the month December for the MP4. just a thought.
