Gentlemen, if you have been tagged in this post, it is because you have participated in one of the last five FITT Challenges either as a tuner, tester or both. A month ago I teased a potential challenge as did DolHaus. Together, they would make an interesting challenge. So here it is: FITT Blind Challenge, 2 classes each run by myself and @DolHaus.
I would take the first class - S2000 vs RX8 @ 450pp on SH likely run at Grand Valley East REVERSE. Class run by Dolhaus, GT300. 3 cars to choose from on RH @ Tzukuba. Here is the catch, all tunes must be submitted through PM to myself for Class 1, to DolHaus for class 2. We would then post them publicly as numbers, no one would know who's tune was whose. I would tune for class 2 and test for class 1, Dolhaus would do the opposite to remove any bias and to not test our own tunes.
What I am looking for is a potential head count of interest, would you be willing to tune, test, or both. We would like to encourage every tuner to tune for one class and test for the other, this would be preferred so that no one would test there own car helping to keep their tune a secret (so to speak). I understand that not everyone wants to test and that would be ok also, depending on turnout, you could choose one class. If you would like to be a tester only (and it would be appreciated as we always need them) you could do both classes.
There are more details to be ironed out by this is all I will say for now. Looking to see if we can pull it off as mentioned or do we need to make some changes to tuning limit(of only one class)
Please feel free to give your opinion and let me know if you are interested in trying a different attempt at a challenge. It was done once before similarly in GT5 and went over rather well. Trying to redo it but just slightly different. Any questions just ask.

Thanks for allowing me to ramble,
Bowtie.:)

Looks good, but as others have said, will depend on timings of deadlines.

IF the testing portion spans a period of 2 weekends. (say, 8 days to test, starting on a Saturday morning and results due in by the following sunday), then you can pencil me in for testing class 1.
So that part is in your hands. I cannot commit to multi-car testing unless I know I'm going to have the days off to do so. And with most people, I have Saturday-Sunday off.
Let me know when you guys settle on some dates.
tuning, I can do anytime. 5 minutes here, and hour there, ect.

My general thought was a 2 week tuning period, more than enough time I would think. Then there would be several days, up to another week, for @DolHaus and I to each sort out the tunes, check them to make sure there are no issues and then post. We would have to post them all so that no one will know which tune is which, therefore you could not ask the tuner, what was your setting here - I cannot get the numbers to match; so we would need time to ensure that all of the questions are answered before posting. THEN, I would give a 2 week testing period to give everyone time to test. Would be roughly 5 weeks total but to do it properly, it will need time.

Ahhhh.....not so fast my friend, I would post the tune painted as per the tuners request, part of the reason I would need time. As for @DolHaus and the GT300'S, that would be up to him. They are all base models so, theoretically they have the same paint........when you buy them.:P
I will post them as specified by the tuner as long as I have the chip (I will substitute an agreed matching colour if not)

Race numbers will be the same as given during the challenge (ie. Tune 1 = No.1)

👍

I think this is a great idea! 👍 I would just wonder how many people would know GVE reverse well enough to test fairly if they cannot tune for that class? I don`t think i`ve ever run GVE in reverse and would have to put in a lot of laps before I could test there and be confident of not learning the track as I was testing. Just a thought, not a critisism, wouldn`t even affect me as I would tune for class 1 and test at Tsukuba for class 2!

Happy new year tuners!

That is a valid and fair point, but I like the flow of it better than forward for this drivetrain and pp range. It reminds me of the original Gran Turismo when it was used for several events. Has been a favorite of mine ever since for FR cars. Try it with any FR or MR between 450 and 550pp. Do 5 laps first forward, then do it in reverse, almost like a different track.
But it is the same as forward, only backward.:sly:

I don think any of this unknown tuner stuff will effect any of my testing because I have never tested in any of these comps yet: I dont know what the tuners like to do. Nevertheless, it will be very interesting to see exactly how all of the testers keep track of the tunes.

Seems a lot of people like my class for tuning, gonna be lonely(:D:D) in class 2. I might actually get a podium again.
@DolHaus, you want to give just a few details, the cars available and pp limit maybe????? Might change a few minds.

Well you put it that way I'll tune for class two and test class one I like that line up
@Bowtie-muscle has been tagged for update ;)

Hey, no more early testing, lol.
Now the other tuners for class one have a standard to beat, and that can throw off someone's creative process.
Well, Im not tuning for class 1, so :)
But really, we shouldn't be putting things in each others heads. So actually, early test all you want, but please, noone post any results if thats ok from here out?

All of the rules have not been given yet, if you need to look at both classes and begin to test to make your decision, no one says that is not allowed. He may or may not have the correct parts on said vehicle so take it with a grain of salt for now.

Guess if I painted my tune blue it might give it away?..........Hmmmmm ;)

Didn't mean anything malicious by it. We've shared times before in other contests so that there was a benchmark. It also doesn't really mean anything when you factor in driver ability and that there are no rules yet. I'll probably be having to take off some parts. Just early testing. Besides, you should never let someone else's entry affect your decision to tune. You gotta go for it regardless.

Pre-Event testing and track familiarisation is fine but starting tuning before the event is launched is strongly discouraged on the grounds of fair play (you are allowed to bring the cars up to PP spec for pre-testing but please don't use this as parts testing) 👍

When the contest is running I must ask that you do not post the tunes to your personal garages/tuning database until the testing deadline has ended 👍

Oh I know you mean well, lol.
I may have sounded more concerned then I really am ^^
I'm not in that group anyway for one thing, and for another thing, all the req's having not been posted yet kinda makes it irrelevant anyway 'at this point'. I was kinda just babbling.

What I meant to say kinda, was if I was in a hypothetical competition with 3 other people, and it being all secretive like this, if one of them let slip out that he ran 'some track' at 'some time', my brain would go crazy, lol. I would tune and tune and tune and change everything down to the weight of the drivers helmet until I could hit or beat that time, lol. A little obsessive I know, but I would go nuts :)
I guess thats really what my point was.

I'm going to stop babbling again before I write another novel, lol.
