Maybe someone else should run this one then. My vision for it does not seem to match the desire from the community. Was just looking to break away from the same old shoot out and did not think that car choice would have been this important with this type of car. Some of you really love your wagons, I guess?

I'll do random choices or lottery, no worries there, just want to have fun tuning and watching my car kills the driver  - a joke not real intention.

Also what will do a tuner that stay with the worst car of the lot... Not even fun to drive, slow, ..... poor tuner. Not very fair for this special guy.

Is that me ?:sly: I have a nice wagon in mind already, Nissan Stagea 250RS Four or it's big brother 260RS.

Good one:sly: At least you have a sense of humour about it:tup:👍

If you want to try something different, throw comfort hards on the lower PP cars and comfort mediums on the higher PP cars. Separate the men from the boys so to speak:scared:

I hope you're not suggesting that the Stagea is a bad car. Sure the RS Four has some understeer issues, but the Autech is basically an R33 with a big boot.

I will see if I can get it up this weekend then if that is the case. Didn't intent to cause such a stir with my comment but it is what it is I guess. :embarrassed: Are we still thinking dual classes with 450 and 535? What's a good track? Madrid? GVE? SSR5?

To continue with the lottery idea, where would something like that work better? Touring cars, DTM, GT or such? NASCAR is really just sticker difference unless I'm missing out on something. I would think we could try that with something where we know the car performance is similar no matter the choice so that nobody feels slighted or uninterested. Ideas welcome!

Think I might like to have free choice for wagons, I had a look at a few last night and I suspect that you'd see one or two cars entered by a few people, but equally, there's some mad cars that are eligble and I'd like to think that people like myself, Harvey and Krenkme would go for something a little leftfield.

That being said, I also like the lottery idea. How about a random ticket lottery?? I know the RKM guys will be potentially adverse to this, after the rally lottery, but I like the idea of having to make a decent fist out of whatever you're given.

I've still got all these tickets (which folks are taking advavntage of for event prizes, btw). I don't have the Year tickets, but I think I have just about all the Level tickets. I think Level 1-3 looks quite tasty, lots of potential, but no race cars. How about rally cars on tarmac (we never get the interest off road :grumpy:)?? Or even Muscle cars?? I have those tickets too.

Have a look at the list:

I think everyone misunderstood what I meant by lottery. The lottery does not choose your car, it just sets the order for who picks first. It is a much better method than doing who calls dibs first in the thread.

535PP Caldina or if eligible Pikes Peak sounds great.:D
Seem to recall a couple rather oddball cars that might be fun for 450PP.:odd:

More than happy with that too 👍 2x entries per car, like we did with the Coastal Concepts..??

For everyone that strangely has not been checking out every wagon, a lottery is kinda useless imo.

For example I don't have the slightest clue between most of them, nor will I be able to learn in a day or two between a start of shootout and drafting time.

I would have no clue which one to pick either. I don't think I've ever really driven one for more than a couple of laps here or there.

If we are really going to do the wagon class and suv class, we should ban the potential over dogs and make this about the unsung cars of GT5. At minimum, the Audis need to go. Anything else a clear dominator?

Ok. Did some research. It looks like the only fair way to categorize the cars is between 4wd and everything else. Here is what I am recommending as the two classes for this tuner challenge.

The only concern that I see is with the BMW. Does that out class the rest of the 450PP field? I also built out the lowest PP cars in each group to see if they can all make it. The 500PP 4wd group looks as if all cars can make it to the limit without much trouble. As for the 450PP class, the Volvo 240 and the Nissan EXA max out at 450. All other cars should make it.

Does this look like a plan? Should I start this one? Did everyone like the track vote from last time? Separate track for each division?

The big Audi's will be uncompetitive at 500PP. Way back in the early days of F.I.T.T. I did a 525PP Pikes Peak and that's probably about as low as you could take it without really crippling it's performance. The RS6s will be pretty much useless at 500PP as they'll need to keep full weight and or be severely power limited.
Liked the earlier idea of 535PP for the higher class but not sure what that would do to the mix as far as other cars.

Looking at your list of 4wd again, think all of them can reach 550PP or very close to that so I'd really recommend 530-535PP for that class so they can stretch themselves a bit and make a few more of t them a bit more competitive.

Think they BMWs, Lexus and Toyota will have a definite edge on the rest of the 450PP field but overall it looks pretty good as is.

May I suggest a track for 450PP ? I have been tuning + testing at Trial Mountain Reverse, it will be used for a race at Deadnutseven too. The track has quite a long straight, some technical corners, variety of elevation, a bit bumpy at some places, good to test suspension setup and the hill part also good for testing car's transmission setup.

While the 500PP can use Autumn Ring Reverse :) rally car races at this track is fun, so it might be good for 4wd wagon too.

Don't forget Honda Insight LS '09 for 450PP, I have one tuned for Deadnuts, great car :embarrassed:

The Mitsubishi Airtek can only achieve 529PP, so think we may have to compromise at 525PP for the big class.

What should we do with the BMW, Lexus and Toyota? Should these just move up to the big class or be dropped?

Not sure how much if any advantage the BMW, Lexus and Toyota will have at 450PP. Almost positive they couldn't keep up with the better 4wd though like the Subarus.

From the cars I've looked at already, that's pretty much on the money. A good split 👍

No chance they'll keep up at 525PP, the Lexus won't even make 500PP as it is. The estate version has the larger 3.0l engine but you can't jack a turbo in there 👎 I assume the same is true for the Toyota variant...

Wait, isn't this a wagon challenge? These are hatchbacks.

That argument could be made for some cars in the game that actually have wagon in their title. Was just looking to ride around on the big bottom girls but avoid the hot hatch club.

That's true and all, but then you run into the argument of "well if that hatchback can join, why not this one?" That said, there's not that many "normal" hatchbacks so it probably wont be an issue. The 147 GTA and the premium TI are hot hatches though.

The 450 class is a bit of a mish mash. Maybe just roll with the 525 class and make this one short and sweet. One track. One week to tune. One week to test.

?

The 450 class will be the more interesting of the two I think, precisely because it's a mish mash. I'd keep both. The higher PP class is... a bit boring... :P

No idea why you're talking about Audi's when you have a lineup of dominating Subaru's listed. (or are you going 2 classes? In which case the Audi's can't dominate the Sub's anyway)

I'm down to feedback (non-tester feedback) atm, taking a GT5-commitment hiatus.
I'll be doing whatever I want, whenever I want, for a while now, nothing more. :)

The Legacy is pretty horrid to drive and tune, since it's so damn stubborn and pushy. The two Impreza wagons though, well, one's an odd thing to tune since it's the old chassis and the other is good but is really so ugly you'd never consider driving it in the first place, leave alone tune it. :P

Who knew that wagons would be so complicated. I think I would rather run a FF hatchback challenge on comfort soft tires at 450PP. I count 66 eligible cars.
