Turbo:

I'd get the Diamond capture card.

Wheel Stands.

I used this:

http://www.staples.com/Iceberg-26-R...gId=-1&storeId=10001&ddkey=http:StaplesSearch

Wasn't stable to start, but with some weight on the front legs, it proved to be quite stable enough for me. My weights I used a 20lb bag of dog food.

Regretfully my wife hated the noise of the wheel at night while she was sleeping and the bedroom had the best setup for using a wheel. Therefore the DFGT went away. :( I did hate the pedals it came with though, and if I get a wheel again i'll get something better.

How loud are they? On a scale of 1 to 10. Where a vacuum clean is a 10, how loud would it be?
I think if you don't plug it in, you will loss FF but it will still work, Right?

depends on the wheel, most of the volume comes from counter-steering as the motors turn. that will pretty much always be there.
My fanatec doesn't have as much gear whine as the Logi's just due to belt drive vs gear drive... but there's also a hum from cooling fans.
I'd say on your vacuum scale heavy wheel use is probably a 5.
I know a vacuum will completely drown it out. :sly:

Good... If it get to loud, I will drown it out with a vacuum.

Edit: seems like that stands not compatible with a DFGT. Seems a bit to price for my budget to.

Practice room open until late tonight:

(I hope this works) :nervous:

Edit: It didn't. :grumpy:

If you have reserves for division 1, I won't be able to race on Sunday.

Father-in-law taking me to Bengals/Steelers game by suprise, but he bought tickets before he knew I was occupied on sunday afternoons.

I guess I can just DNS if there are no reserves or whatever.

Sorry.

I fully intend to be participating in the bottom half of the pack for the rest of the races.

I may or may not be on tonight guys. Going to buy that capture device in the way home and hopefully it will work with my netbook. Just hoping the software that comes on the CD is available for download on their website...

Hey gents, so it looks like I will be out for this Sunday's race at GVR, unfortunately. So, consider my spot open in D2. Will be back on for Twin Cities :)

Practice room open. :)

Turbo,

Most drivers/software should be on the website.

It wasn't. I just booted up the DVD on my brothers laptop and transferred the drivers to a USB stick. Unfortunately I forgot to transfer the software too, so I have to wait until he gets back from the store. :P

True, however my best lap the entire race was still a 14.7. Nowhere near where I wanted to be.

Funny thing about chasing down Ketiux, if you watch the replay from my perspective and skip forward to lap 19 or 20, then slowly skip forward each lap after that, you can see how much I gained over the course of 3-4 laps. He just get's closer and closer. :dopey:

I'm surprised I pulled away from Welsh.

You did your usual great job of maintaining a solid pace through to the end of the race, so congrats on 2nd place! As soon as the room was reset for qualifying, I struggled to run any pace near to my practice laps, which was disappointing. Not so sure it was the room though, just felt I under-performed in this race. When I lost a big chunk of time to you was when I ran very wide exiting T4 and subsequently let off the gas as a personal penalty! Just drove it home after that.

Great run by Forced and congratulations on the win! :)

Had a good time with Outlaw, Nepal, and others tonight. Nepal and Outlaw were there normal fast selves. I could only muster a 204.9 as my best. Sorry to jump out during the race. Just couldn't concentrate any longer. Really happy we don't race during the work week!

I don't think it will be long before guys are in the :03's. I just hope to get into the mid :04's.

I think LP already did a 2:03 a while ago when we were practicing all the tracks in pre-season.

In the same session Brosif let me know that the concrete slabs at the chicane and between the last tunnel and first hairpin are legal to mow down?
Just need to make sure that's absolutely correct before I learn how to take advantage of them (never had those be "in-bounds" before, usually the edge is the kerb not the wall).

Here's a sample video. I had to use a regular A/V cable so the quality could be better. Tomorrow I will purchase an S-Video cable which should help some.

Nice 👍
Yeah, Svideo will help. But that's already much better quality than I expected. You get the Dazzle?

Yeah. I've also run into an issue with my netbook not playing the video smoothly in the editing software, so it's hard to do any editing. I'd like to make some highlight videos, so I'll have to figure out what to do here. I wonder if I can update the ram in my computer...

Edit: I can upgrade to 2GB in about 5 minutes it seems. Will have to do that next payday.

ram wouldn't help as much as just converting the output video.

Take the output video you want to edit. Then compress it into a easier to handle .avi file or even mpeg4.

What sort of editing suite are you trying?

If you're trying to use windows movie maker on a slower computer you're better off just shaving your head now 'cause you'll want to pull your hair out.

Older versions of Sony Vegas are very easy to use and very well optimized for use on older computers. PM me if want.

Also, you'll have to turn up the exposure/brightness setting in GT5's options, should look better.

I'm using the software that came with the device. I'm going to do the ram anyway because it's cheap and easy. And you're right, I can just save the video I capture then edit afterwords. Will play around with it some more tomorrow.

Nepalli hit a 2:03.6 or .7 in the final race of the night and that was without any draft.

I'm stuck averaging mid 2:04s where I'm losing an astonishing .5 seconds in sector 2. I'm almost sure it's the exit to that long right hander between the 2nd and 3rd tunnel and the corner after that. I hit T1 at around 123 mph once and gained .3 for my personal best of a 2:04.25.

A big issue is T1 in race conditions. The car pushes so badly to the point in which I'm forced to use 4th to avoid the dirt. Not good.

This is going to be a busy week for me so I'm going to take my one dropped race this round. My reserve replace has plenty of time to practice so it should be all goooooood. I'll be back for Turbo's custom track.

Nice 👍

By the way, I downloaded the replay file you put up and then transferred it to my PS3, but the game isn't recognizing it for some reason. :(

It's not importing into replay theater?
Directory structure should be all set so that you can unzip it to USB, and then copy it into the XMB; should be under PS3 Save data.
Then go into replay theater in GT5, and I forget where it is, but you can import from save data, only after that would it be playable.

My site analytic says it was downloaded by 6 people... did anyone else get it working?
(on a side note while I was checking that I noticed that 1and1 dropped their already extremely high traffic limit so now I'm unlimited and no longer have to be nervous about hosting 100mb files. 👍 )

I think your definitely losing time there, you're entering much faster then I am, but it looked like my exits were much faster from there. The corner after that is just a 🤬
