I'm practicing on Autumn Ring Mini if anyone wants to join:

I was +0.070 on my result screen, but it's splitting hairs regardless.

Suzuka east practice race worked out well; I would vote for that. ARM is probably going to be a bump-fest.
We did Suzuka East in season 1 and I hated it. I vote 1000x no against that track, it's just a boring oval with a couple left turns.

Also, would anyone be opposed to switching from Autumn Ring Mini to my Kart track, and just run a long race without a pit stop?

I honestly think it needs a change. I don't believe racing 16 cars at a Mini ring would be very fun.

I think I could also vouch for Brosif in saying the kart track would be a better alternative.

Only other option so we don't tarnish the series start by making last minute decisions is to just start it out at Nurburgring and push back the original race 1 and make it race 2.

P.S. didn't try the NB on your kart track though, so might be a non-issue if NB would rule there.

Well the NB is slightly faster at any track. Just ask Brosif, he can pull a time at least three tenths better than his NA's best time in three laps anywhere. So in my opinion the only advantage the NA has is a more stable platform and slightly easier tire wear.

I vote for ARM to be switched out for that kart track. I liked it when I ran it with you and brosif that one fateful night.
👍

Has a point but ARM is a bit of a boring track to race on in general. I would vote for the kart track made by RT. Close race with no pitting so tire management would need to be balanced with speed. I think I would enjoy it.

Also RT, can you send me a high resolution picture of the Flyin' Miata logo. Like a really high def one. About 700 pixels/inch?
👍

I made the logo so I can send you the raw .png full res file. It's big so you can size it down to your liking.

Also, if everyone could post some notes of what they remember in the race that would be great.

Naming specific turns where exciting things happened would be cool then just name what lap it might've been on. Like, " I passed _____ on the inside of turn three and almost spun out" etc.

The more notes and highlights, the better. 'cause I'm gonna record stuff tonight when I'm back from work to give to Blackice so he can put a video together so if you think you have something cool enough to be featured just post it in here!

Also, one more thing (damn long post hah); No one got lapped in the race! That's pretty awesome to me ::dopey:👍

If we were going to do anything suzuka, I'd want it to be suzuka full course in the rain. Call me crazy all you want but suzuka is probably my favorite course in the game. We've also never ran a rain course. I'm not sure about this, but rain usually doesn't stop people from racing in SM unless you consider GT5 rain as an ungodly amount.

It showed. 086 on mine but ya still really close! Good race again!

I wholeheartedly disagree. I actually think a really long enduro at ARM would be awesome with these cars. 80+ laps. Think of the dynamic of lap traffic, the track is so small there would never not be someone battling!
Also, if everyone could post some notes of what they remember in the race that would be great.
I assume you really only care about the 'superstar' room. But if you are interested in the slow people's race, the last 3-5 laps were really tense in the front.

I'd back up that decision in a heartbeat. I'd love to get a rain race going on, but I'll bet 10:1 Turbo would never go for that idea. He seems really opposed to longer tracks with big straight sections.

On the contrary, I know Wardez would love to input highlights from B room. Any race footage is race footage.

Herein lies the catch, the rain is sort of a catch 22 with the draft, long straight, and low speed corners of suzuka. Imagine trying to catch brosif only to fly straight in to the barrier on the 2nd gear corner before the back straight. We all know which corner I'm talking about.

Yeah but, I don't know. I guess you'd have to try a race at ARM with a lot of people then tell me if you still feel the same way. The thing is that it's way too tight, especially this early on in the series where the group's still getting used to racing each other.

Later on in the calender I'd go for it. I agree the idea of constant battling is awesome, an SM Monaco, but it just wouldn't be like that for us.

Yeah, both races, I was gonna ask for someone to put up the replay and Entroper came through before I even did so it'll be good 👍

Well he wanted rain from the start in the last IS-F race. It didn't actually rain though, 'cause we set it to random weather. But we were prepared to go for it in 500+hp race machines so maybe he would go for it. Suzuka full would be an awesome race if we didn't have to deal with the draft.
Other reason not to is just because he's already made lots of schedule changes already and is probably just tired of having to tweak it so much. But I'm personally more than down for a race in the wet.

He'll just need to respond one more time to all this talk about different tracks to set the schedule in stone.

F-suzuka. And why all this talk of changing the course list now? Please don't change it (but if you do, change it now rather than later). I'll be super pissed if I put another 8 hours into practicing a track only to have it changed within days of qualifying (like clubman 5/GVE-r).

ARM is going to be amazing with all of us, there are actually tons of spots to pass and like Graham said, everyone will always have someone to race. Egghead and myself just had an awesome session, and we both feel like we are getting the hang of the track. Given the group of guys here, I think the smallness of it will be fine.

Look on the bright side, at least you're learning the tracks. 💡

is that consideration?

I do know that putting in hours of practice isn't a luxury all of us have. They do make a point though as I put tons of man hours in to clubman and really liked the track.

Maybe consider suzuka rain as a replacement for tsukuba if you think it's a good idea? We're already running ARM as a little tribute to season 1. MRLS is the be all end all for pretty much any mazda enthusiast.

Suzuka is my favorite course, hands down, but it's really built for faster cars, and the draft would be enormously powerful there. Nurburgring GP/F, Laguna, and Tsukuba are all great picks. I was surprised to see Cape Ring Inside go, and I think maybe we don't need two variations of Autumn Ring. I would vote to bring back CRI and ditch ARM.

EDIT: If folks want weather, there's always Eiger... :D

EDIT 2:

I had a nice spinout after putting a wheel on the outside curb coming out of the tunnel. Don't remember which lap, but it was more than halfway through the race. I was running 2nd place at the time, being one of the few cars who hadn't yet hit the pits. Three drivers got to drive through my smoke while they battled for position.

I'd definitely go for a wet Suzuka race. Or perhaps a wet Monza race, instead.

Keep ARM, too.

that definitely sounds exciting. 👍

I love the idea of some wet races. I'm kinda with wardez and others on the whole ARM thing. Not a great track for 16 people IMO. I dont see many places to pass, T1? T5? maybe the last one..... eh, I'd rather do the full AR.

the full track is light-years more fun than the mini

Think I'm going to make an executive decision on this in the morning. I'm pretty sure I'll be changing it.

Ok I took some pics and tried to get everyones car in group b. I'm not the best at photo mode but its something. If I missed you please let me know and ill go back try and take some of you.

It's your series, go nuts 👍

I had fun practicing ARM with Talon and spdu4ea tonight, but I can see how it might get a little rough with 16 of us out there though. It certainly wasn't a waste of time practicing; any time there's a good online battle is time well spent :D

I concur. I really liked that one; it felt so fast.

I like Monza a lot, but it's definitely not a good fit for cars as slow as ours.
Keep ARM, too.

Perhaps just add something and lengthen the series? I know ARM had a good bit to do with my decision to go with the '04. It's not right to alter the track selection now that people are locked into their car choice.

My B-race recap:

Turn 1 in I move to inside of spankurmom (who was trying to go inside of handofgod) and entroper moves to inside of me. Entroper and I collect and Spankurmom ends up being shot out like a pinball into gravel.

Exit of turn two GTP_jbell hits me from behind pushing me into Scepter who was a bit loose already. Scepter spins 360 and would have saved it but he then got rammed by GTP_jbell and dropped to near last.

Entering turn 3 into tunnel GTP_jbell flies over me like a star wars pod racer and goes straight into the wall.

Exiting turn 3 in the tunnel, GTP_jbell rams me from behind so hard I jump from ~80mph to >100mph. Would have been awesome but damage was on and I went red and fishtail the length of the tunnel into hand of god at the entrance of corner 4 (he recovers but we both lose time)

Pushing a bit too hard to catch back up to the main group, I blow the hairpin before the straight which lets a now lag-free GTP_jbell pass and GTP_tylor catch up to me.

Laps 2&3 are decent b-tarded battle with tylor and I repeatedly trading paint/positions allowing Entroper to gain and get into the mix. Unfortunately the battle ended for me at the beginning of lap 4 when GTP_jbell (who had solo spun into the gravel & wall between T1 and T2) decided to reverse perpendicularly onto the course and I T-boned him hard enough to go fully red. Damn near everyone passed me while mechanical damage limited me to 55mph

By the end of lap 5 I was again within sight of Entroper (who was drafting gravydavy). Entroper passed gravydavy on the straight and gravy wound up right on Entroper's tail before turn 1. Gravy sanity-braked, but I had only lifted and suddenly found myself up 2 car lengths into the back of gravy. He got into the gravel and as I was slowing down to let him repass me he quit the game and unleashed a chat tirade :guilty:

The next 19 laps were pretty uneventful for me. I was so far back I pitted on lap 10 hoping to at least be able to run near the leaders for a while, but they must have been battling pretty fiercely since my 1:20.0s were enough to maintain a ~1.00 deficit and I never even saw them in the rearview.

I'm not a fan of really wet races. The wall of splashes from the car ahead makes seeing anything around you a challenge. With many close battles and low grip it's gonna get really ugly.

Here's my recap:

Wardez knocked me into the sand on the first lap...the end

Seriously, I haven't watched the replay yet so I'm not exactly sure what happened there. It could have be a lag induced chain reaction, I could have braked too early because my screen was wonky from the connection issues and I was having trouble focusing...whatever, it was a pre-season race. A good learning experience, especially for those who didn't run Season 1.

I'm actually quite happy about climbing my way back up to 6th from 14th or whatever the sandbox incident put me back to, but it was a relatively uneventful climb so don't waste your time watching me on the replay :D
