This track is going to produce even tighter racing than GVER
So hard to pass!
Sounds like the same reasons for eliminating ARM from the series.

And again, after you try to race 16 cars on ARM, talk to me. Winners win through a crap shoot. Pure luck.
Right, but the point is that the track was already chosen and everyone has to deal with the same problem.

It's so tight that even the main straight isn't long enough for a draft to make a pass, and I thought that was the point of it... because Turbo originally said he was trying to avoid the unrealistic draft. Which is exactly why I'm shocked by the change because that's what CRI is all about: you lose the draft you lose any chance of winning.

ARM is definitely a challenge, and that's why I don't want to see it go. Maybe replace the full track with Mini, or even add it in at the end of the season as a bonus race? Only about half the people showed up for the bonus race last season anyway. I just really like the idea of an ARM enduro... 80 laps would take less than an hour and with pitting the cars would be scattered everywhere.

(sorry to brosif, alien, egg, Veloci, and you Sam for bumping you guys on turn one when you braked, I was expecting you guy would make it through without braking. I think I pushed brosif a bit too hard into the sand trap that time I hit him. Sorry man)

You were good dude. I saw you back off before corner entry and I was looking good on speed then all of the sudden I was going 128mph despite not receiving a bump from anyone. I was very confused at what was going on the entire race. Coming out of the last corner people would seemingly be 5mph faster than me despite my speedo displaying the usual exit speeds one would expect.

Can we just drop it already. Track is changed and I believe its going to stay that way. Now move on.

I submitted this thread to Jordan and told him all about the series and how we have a sponsor as well as how active everyone is in this series. I gave him a lot of pictures to choose, hopefully he will decide to post this up in GTP News.

Now I know how frustrated Turbo and Wardez were at Laguna last season.

It also felt like I was racing in slow motion on Sunday night, but it wasn't nearly as bad as Laguna last season. During that race it was exactly how you described. I kept getting hit from behind because my car didn't seem to keep the correct speed. Add to that the fact that my screen was operating on hardly anything over 20 frames per second, and I just had to quit. Sucked, because that ruined my championship hopes. :indiff:

Interestingly enough that's how boost kind of works....when Veloci, Jett, Sam and I were all goofing around the other night we managed to pull of low 1:12's at GVER with boost on high, however, our speedos were reading the same speeds as normal. I know that's the opposite of the lag issue, but just thought it was noteworthy.

Would either of the guys I sent the NC specs to last night like to comment on the car?

Edit: Those that want to make car and/or color changes have until before qualifying on Friday night to make them. Please PM me your changes so they do not get lost in the quickly expanding thread. :)

Just as an FYI, I PMed Jordan back on March 21st regarding the Flyin’ Miata Super Cup:
BrosifDuder
Jordan,

I know you are a busy dude but I thought I would check to see if you would be interested in our online racing series. If you get a chance you should check it out: GTP Flyin' Miata Super Cup. After a very successful first season we are gearing up for Season 2 and with top tier racers already competing in the series it would be great to have someone of your skill level (and GTP prominence) participating.

No pressure.

Talk you later,

Jamen

To which he responded on March 26th:
Jordan
Hey Jamen, thanks for the invitation! I love Miatas and would love to participate, but next month is going to be really hectic for me and I doubt I'll have time to join those events. Unfortunately, I've not even had time to pick up GT5 since Round 3 of GT Academy was over. :indiff: If my schedule opens up, though, I will definitely try to join you guys for a few races.

BlackIce, I am not saying your submission was a poor play or bad in any way (quite the opposite). I simply wanted to mention this so that everyone knows Jordan is aware of the series and we don’t flood him with invitations to join or any unnecessary PMs (regarding our series) since he is such a busy dude.

Oh well I just submitted the FMSC info into the News Submission area. I didn't ask him to join, but rather help promote the series on the front page. I thought that if he posted it up there, people would be more active in the GT5 Online Racing community because this series alone is very motivational and could encourage others to create similar championships and have just a good of a turnout as this series.

For anyone who was running near me, did you notice my car acting odd on-screen or did it appear that I was lagging?
For those few laps I was around - you didn't look jerky. But then again, it felt like 20fps on my side in key corners, so I might have missed some jerkiness. I was surprised though that you didn't pull away from me quickly, so your connection issues must've been truly horrible.

And Egghead, that car has no green in it dude, it's as yellow as a banana.

Wait...What?!
It's called Isotope Green :sly:

Whatever...it's not easy being green :D

First off, I need to apologize to anyone I may have hit, bumped, nudged, blocked, or ran into during Sunday's race as I genuinely was not aware of the events occurring.

Secondly, all this talk about the battle at the front has me even more frustrated about my connection/lag issues during the race. I have never experienced a problem before so I definitely need to look into what may have caused the issue this past Sunday. Now I know how frustrated Turbo and Wardez were at Laguna last season. It was very odd only being able to turn mid 19s when running by myself despite my corner and trap speeds being right on target and my driving style not changing from when I was running bottom 18s. Even when bump-drafting and staying inline for an entire lap all I could run was mid to high 18s. For anyone who was running near me, did you notice my car acting odd on-screen or did it appear that I was lagging?

Congratulation to the guys up front and to Egg and V-DUB for coming from behind. Egg, I dove into the pits with you so that we could work together for the rest of the race but when I exited I was twice as far back as when we entered. I wouldn't have been able to hang with you anyways. Wardez, sorry for my pit exit, I saw you coming and lifted to make sure I wasn't at the T1 apex when you got there but somehow I managed to fail miserably.

Sorry again, everyone, and hopefully I can figure out what the hell happened with my connection on Sunday as the experience was deflating, to say the least.

I wouldn't worry too much about your connection issues, I think PD's servers were struggling on Sunday. Both A and B rooms had issues, and we tried 2 different hosts for the A room. It might be worth an earlier start for the practice/warm-up since we spent the whole hour messing around with connection issues rather than driving before race start. I too had the 20fps issue for most of the race, especially coming out of the tunnel.

Looks like I got a better pit crew this time :sly:
I saw you come in behind me, but I ended up much further ahead on the exit
It made for a bit of a lonely race as I tried to run consistent laps to try to catch the magic vacuum that is the draft in this game

I haven't built the car to the specs you outlined, however I can say that the lap times of a similarly built NA/NB should compared with the NC will usually result in the NC having quicker lap times out of experience in one of the seasonal time trials for the roadsters. The NC is also lose feeling similar to the NB but with the stability of the NA.

No reason really to compare the NA/NB to it. IF we run a series with the car, it will be a stand-alone NC series.

- OR -

Run then with the Spec cars we are running now, and just make it a separate class. Few different ideas to throw around and lots of time experiment...

Hell to the no with having two different classes on the track. It sounds exciting in practice but that was one of the primary reasons I dropped a gt300/500 colabo race early in the game. Too much hassle with priotization on lines between the two classes. The idea of ruinning a lower B class championship position because the last placed A class was too stubborn to give up the line doesn't sound too fun. The room cap of 16 drivers is also limiting the possibility of two classes running at the same time.

I compared the NA/NB to the NC since I thought the cars would drive very similarly, but the NC was vastly different in my opinion. It sounds like you want to throw out the idea of simulating the "playboy mx-5 cup series" from two or three years ago. If so, then it's a good idea to have next season as a little change to what we're running now. Different car, different speeds, same great types of racing with the same great people. 👍

probably be good fun to run the NC stand alone so you could spec it up to GT4 Cup-Car proportions. Could probably easily get it to match up with the specs for the Exige

The RM'd elise vs the awesome NC :dopey: I'm going to start testing first thing tonight! That would be an awesome mixed series.

edit: although I realize we're a miata club.....

Eh, mixing an RM car with a non-RM car doesn't sound like fun to me. I want to keep the NC at the 2011 GT Racer specs, just like I have it right now. No downforce and all....

Thank goodness!!! 👍👍👍👍👍

I just meant that an NC could eaisly be tuned to fit in line with the Exige GT4 car's specs... not actually racing them against eachother. :P

^lol^

Didnt think about that  I was actually thinking of trying to make the elise competitive with the NC the way we have it rather than modding the NC any more.

I got that, I was just taking it a step further :)

This car for those that are wondering what we're talking about. 👍

Looks like Mazda is planning on going after the Z4 in FIA GT3/4 soon. Those specs are right on target with that Exige I linked. BTW, going by the holes in the rear arches, rear diffuser, and beefy chin splitter, I doubt you'll see that car again without a wing on the back of it. Certainly on on a race track. I would suspect those preview shots just don't have the wing since that gets specc'd to the series it has not been entered in yet.
