Please don't alter my postings, if you put them into a quote I believe this to be real rude and bad mannered and i guess it would be against forum rules too. And i believe that to also be some kind of act of desperation by someone who can't find better arguments.

Seriously? Coming from you, I find this funny.

I wont alter your posts anymore, but when I see your name, all I know coming is yet another post about the ring. For the 100th freekin time. Again, thats why I find you comment above so side splittin'.

But on a totally serious note, I believe GT5 is a much better game for you. In fact for your tastes, I would say not to even bother with FM4. I am not sure if you have heard it or not, but the ring in FM4 isnt up to your stadards.

Compare immersion

hehe I lol'd at fm4, camera shaking and tunnel vision reminds me too much of nfs, awesome sounds though.

imo GT5 speed immersion is what the STIG sees, perfect in terms of no tunnel vision, able to see 100m 50m at a speed of 200km+ lolz xD.

for me I dont mind the camera shaking if your inside the car but not outside camera view.

Thanks for stopping to alter my post. Because i didn't think that it was funny at all. In fact you tried to make fun of me in a cheap way.
And just as i said before, right now the X-Box wheel in on my rig and it takes some time to separate because it needs a stupid playseat adapter. So I will stick to Forza 4 for now and i have to say the more i play ,the more i like it.

Let's be honest here. If it wasn't for the ring, it would be something else. You played GT since the PS1 days so for you, the GT series feels natural. That's the real truth. You have nostalgia and emotion involvement with the series. You don't have that connection with Forza. Most gamers who own a playstation since the PS1 days have this hatred for anything Microsoft. If Forza was on PS3, I think that some members might see the game differently.

I am not emotionally attach to any device, I play on PC/PS3/X360. Whatever game that feel that gap. I love GTR/F1 2011 on PC, played GT5 to death and now it's Forza time. Who is the winner ? me.

I have been with the GT series since the 1st one on PS1. When younger I was one of these diehard GT fanboys proclaiming that GT is the best thing under the racing sun. Then one day I had a go on a PC racing game and opened my eyes to other titles even on other platforms. I do not have any hatred towards MS nor Sony nor anyone. No nostalgia here either. And I do agree with you that if Forza were multiplat or on PS3 that most folks would give it a go and might even say it's as good or better than GT. Folks wouldn't be going on highliy compressed images or youtube videos as the decider of what a game is and isn't.

It stinks but it is what it is. And I'm with you, multiplat owner here, well PC rig is down and needs replacing but the winner is also me. It's a win win situation. Play a little of game X then of game Y, appreciate or feel disappointed in other features and have a general better idea of the games' states rather than preaching biased and opinionated 'facts' as the 'truth' due to reviews, forum posts, youtube links, etc etc rather than actual experience.

I agree with you %1000, at times I wonder if some of these guys read what they post. Makes me wonder what is the point of all the bashing from the ones who never played the game or dont even own an xbox.

You can turn the shaking off in the settings. I never play in 3rd person view and I'll admit that looks really bad! It's much more believable in the cockpit. I wish GT had the ability to turn it off. It makes sense that the car should shake around but not the focal point. I can't make anything out at speed.

what? don't make statements like that with such conviction, it deteriorates your image as someone with a respectable opinion.

It's true though.

LOL at thinking 3rd person view is the way Stig drives.

Wow.... :sly:

Eurgh, look at those tyres! :yuck:

Who own booth games? How the physics can be compared between them?(Steering wheels). Don't wonna start a flame s**t, just curious to know your opinion, IF you have booth.

I play with the X-Box wireless wheel, which is inferior to the one i use in Gt5, but the physics in Forza 4 have definetly improved a lot. I can't tell which one is better.

For me, it's no comparison at all. Although both are great racing games in their own right, with me going as far as to say that at least game-wise, forza is the much better game, but still, it doesn't compare to GT5.

That's simply because Forza to me is, no matter how good, still a STONE COLD AFFAIR. I don't care how good it looks, how well it drives, how complete it is. I play it, and like it, but just can't love it. There's no passion in that game, no where. It's a game by the book, by the numbers. You know, the wrongs in GT5 actually made me love the game. Yes, you read it right, it's flaws. Because of those flaws, I've gotten a glimpse of what GT5 was supposed to be. It saddens me to know the game was never what was intended. But underneath those flaws, I can see a game company trying to make something special. Something worthwile. It's called passion, people! And Forza ain't got none of that.

For me, it's cold perfection vs. flawed passion. And I have to admit, I'll choose for that passion.

Now I'm going to go back to my love!:sly:

Wow! Best post on this entire thread. Good game is souless and a flawed game is passion.

You honestly made this boring friday at work pass a little faster.

I really cant believe this track cost only 5 bucks ($2.50 to be exact) It's beautiful! PD can model some amazing tracks.

Where is that vid from?

EDIT: Never mind I just checked the front page, lol trust me to get the latest news from the thinly veiled console war thread.

That looks impressive! I really want to get back into GT considering I have the DFGT and rarely a chance to use it. I need to buy/build a stand.

You're welcome mate! It's something I wanted to get of my chest for a long time. Propably because I couldn't put it up in words,

For me, Gran Turismo is a vision of PD, a vision, or maybe a dream, that gives the game soul, which Forza severely lacks,

Nice to hear that, have a good time with FM4 mate. Folks we should be less hostile toward Forza Motorsport and their users. Console wars are pointless stupid and I don't think FM has no passion, Imo T10 made something special with the sound, maybe not always realistic but those cars sounds great, really.

That said I'm looking forward to blast some stuff at Spa! 👍 👍

This 👍

I'm lucky enough to have both platforms and both games. They both do some things really well and fail miserably at others. Neither is perfect, I just happen to find more things to like in Forza.

OK - here we go with my early impressions of Forza 4.

I am seriously impressed by FM4 (far more than I was with any previous FM title), as a total package what I have seen so far has made quite an impact.

The presentation and structure leaves GT5 for dust, its polished and well presented and shows a passion for all things automotive that has been missing from previous instalments. The opening video and first race set that change of pace and so far its not let up.

It does throw money and cars at you at quite a pace (and as I had imported those given up to level 40 from FM3) which builds the garage quickly. Just about every level up so far has brought a smile to my face, being presented with a selection of cars and asked to pick one could so easily have leads to one good car among a load of dross, so far that has most certainly not been the case. It fact on a number of occasions I have struggled to know what to pick, the choice has been that good and the cars on offer that interesting.

The physics seem so far to be very robust and the tyre model excellent, certainly one of the best outside of PC and I will say that so far I would nudge FM above GT. Prior to playing I was worried out the fact that FWD cars were absent from the demo, however having spent most of my racing time with them so far the modelling of FWD dynamics seems very, very well done. With understeer presenting as it should do and the ability to correct it via the throttle, brakes and steering reacting exactly as they should do.

The 'rivals' section is an excellent addition and one that will certainly add life to the game once the World Tour is done.

Autovista is more restrictive in the movement than I had hoped for, yet far more interesting and informative than I had expected and the challenges associated with them fun.

Issues noted to date include the damage still being a bit like the paint has been sanded off when you make minor contact and the level of grip doesn't vary as much as it should across the new Alps based track. With a temp of 24 F / -4 C I would expect to see evidence of lower grip in the shadow covered areas of the road.

However as an overall package I have to say that FM4 has drawn me in and impressed so far with all aspects of it.

Thanks for your impressions Scaff, looking forward to hearing more from you later on in the game and seeing some pictures in the FM photo thread.

You have an eloquent and unique way of explaining your opinion and preference. To say the flaws in a game actually promotes an attachment is kind of strange. If that was the case then I should be in love with Shift 2 :). And I do see the diamond in the rough in Shift 2 but I would really and truly "love" it is the bugs where nonexistent.
Again, and again, most of these VS discussions are directly related to a need or desire to believe in intangibles to support an investment (time and/or money).
My satisfaction with a product is directly related to how closely it meets my expectations. GT I am sure has appeal to those looking for very specific features or unique qualities. I still have fond memories of some of early racing games but if I pick up now they just don't seem to hold the same magic - technology marches on. Turn 10 had done a great job with Forza 4 and if it lacks anything it sure isn't an immersive virtual racing experience. If that experience is "cold" then I guess that means I am not fond of hot and humid weather.

Scaff,

Nice review. In your comparison of the physics, would, that also include the changes to the physics that occurred in the Spec 2 update?

Despite the criticisms and looking at forza 4 as it beats gt in customization and constancy. Forgot about one amazing

It's not just for looks. What's the point of nurb or de la sarth if there's no time change or weather? They don't say "it always rains at leman" for no reason. It makes the racing more exciting. May not look as good as pgr4's rain, but it works.
