It's nice to see people who can allow others their opinion even if they don't agree with it without attacking them.

I'm not saying that anyone here that doesn't like GT is a troll...although, if you don't like GT then why ARE you here, I'm saying is that, with a thread like this, eventually it's going to get shut down anyway because of trolls. I'm not trying to be a troll myself. But I still don't like this thread. I think it's foolish to think that one can have a thread like this and NOT attract trolls.

And if you think it's going well...well...there's been no fist fights as of yet, but...it's as civil as a argument can be, 'cause really, from what I've been reading, that's what this is. And a mainly one sided argument, since it seems like 90% of the people commenting on this thread prefer Forza over Gran Turismo. And if the remaining 10% say something bad about Forza, we get yelled at and stones thrown at us.

I keep trying to convince myself that the situation with the Forza ney and yay sayers isn't so bad, but every time I've tried to even make a valid point, I've gotten spit on and cussed at. That's not civilized. That's not "doing well" at all. That's "Forza's the king of racing, and if you something different, you're and idiot." And all that despite the fact that this is on a GT site. And anywhere else on the site you mention Forza's name and you get spit on and cussed at.

Which, then it's pointless to have a "FM vs GT" "discussion" because there's no one arguing the GT side 'cause no one wants to be beaten up.

See, it's about what you say is bad about Forza, and how you're saying it. Saying the AI sucks in Forza isn't going to get people to take you very seriously when GT rpobably has the most lackluster AI I've seen this generation.

Which is just an example, of course.

Here, want me to name a few things I'd instantly agree with you on:
Widened 'Ring - Bad.
AWD cars dominating - Bad.
Unicorn cars being needed to balance the econoomy - Bad.

Saying "oh my, Forza's Ai is all wrong" because it's not actively dodging you when they're actually in front of you, is a whole different ballpark.

Threads like this attract trolls from both sides of the fence, I know because I've banned both 'flavours'. That's also why this thread is unlikely to get locked, as the staff are more likely to deal with those who can't follow the AUP, rather than lock the thread.

In regard to why be here if 'you' don't like GT, keep in mind that GT is often what brings a member here, but its certainly not the reason most stay. A large number of members here no longer play GT, own a PS3 or even post in the GT forums. That includes a number of members of staff, should they re-consider staying as well?

Keep in mind the location that the URL www.forzaplanet.net takes you to as well.

I would also caution you not to pseudo-moderate, you don't get to question why members should be here, or what threads should remain open. If you have an issue with content that breaks the AUP, then report it, but please do not start questioning the validity of others membership.

But, if you're a Forza "representative" here in the largest GT fansite in the world, unless you are "gathering data on how to improve Forza" wouldn't you just be a troll? I mean, sure it's the Forza section of the site, but the site IS the largest GT fansite in the world. So...you're either a fan of both, a peaceful representative or a troll.

And to that note, I think this particular thread should be erased 'cause all it's gonna do is attracted trolls.

Congratulations, you are also now the first reason why I've had to amend the first post of this thread and the posting guide it contains. I strongly suggest that you re-read the opening thread and review the past reasons why the staff have had to speak to you. I have to be honest if you continue along this track for any longer, then I can assure you that what other post in here will not be something you are able to comment on, period.

I'm here because the official Forza forum will not allow anything negative to be said about their game. They review your first 50 or so posts and nix anything they don't like. Once you are past the review stage, if they don't like your post they remove the whole page.

Just because someone doesn't agree with you doesn't mean it's an argument. It's people stating their opinion. It's a tough life thinking every one that doesn't agree with you wants to fight.

Juice I can fully see where your coming from and you validate yourself completely.

Don't think anyone argues over genuine criticisms of the game either way.

Saying however that you hope for something not to be implemented. ( inclusion of Porsche for example ). So that you can gain pleasure from someone else's dismay is just plain wrong.

There is no valid argument other than scoring points over each other.

I'm sure both sets of fans are just as guilty though but it has remained very civil around here as of late.

I own both a PS3 and Xbox and I am just a fan of the Genre TBH.

Although lately I've gotten into oblivion lol.

Talk about being over-dramatic.
I cant hear anything from the forums on my PC, so I can't be yelled at.
Stones won't come through my computer screen, so I can't have a stone thrown at me.
Spit can't come through my screen either, so I can't be spit on either.

💡 This guy must have one serious PC if this stuff is happening to him.

Let's not let one guy ruin a thread that was going perfectly find until the "troll" comment was introduced. The thread had been great until now.

That's why I'm not even going to bother replying to that garbage, let's just keep the thread moving.

One thing I've seen argued before was the movement of cars weight transfer in these games. I have to say that the races I've seen on TV cars don't really do alot of sloshing around. Some say FM3 suspension doesn't move enough but I have to say they seem to move as much as what I've seen. GT5 seems to be over-pronounced in the movement and weight transfer. What say ye?

Start at the 0:24 mark of my vid and you'll see live footage, cars aren't sloshing around and in the rest of the vid you'll see the FM3 cars aren't either. There is movement but it isn't over the top stuff.

The issue raised with Forza in this regard is not about race-spec cars, with race-spec suspension, but rather with the road cars with stock suspension.

On a track they most certainly are subject to more body roll that is normally visible in FM...

...keep in mind that the Clio about has stiff suspension for its class of car and certainly for a road car.

On a side note, you mentioned weight transfer, keep in mind that weight transfer and visible body movement are not the same. You could take the springs out of the Clio above and replace them with metal bars, the roll would not then occur, but the weight transfer would be almost exactly the same (the results of that same weight transfer on the tyres would be very, very different however).

As part of one of my old jobs I 'tracked' a lot of road cars (just about every volume road car in the UK at the time) and have to say that even GT5s visible roll is underdone for some cars, in particular the level of dive you can get under hard braking.

Again, far from a softly sprung road car, and being auto-crossed the speeds are going to be still fairly low, yet the level of dive is clearly greater than we are used to seeing in GT or FM....

Ok, I haven't watched many races with those kind of specs nor do I participate in many. We did one Cleo race way back but the cars were highly upgraded from stock so I guess it wouldn't make sense to even post that video.

I have seen many impressive pictures of cars in the new Autovista mode in F4, but in my opinion they look like the premium cars in GT5. the Interior shots are beautiful but the exterior look like GT5 premium models. Has it been confirmed on how many cars will be featured in Autovista mode?

It says 800,000 polys here, not 850,000 my bad. I believe that regular cars are 800,000 and the autovista has 1,000,000. Click on best looking forza yet and read the description.
Also for me the most annoying thing about forza is the annoying driver animations and they just break the immersion when in cockpit.
They had the cockpit hands correct in the e3 2010 demo but then they went back to the lobster claw hands on the steering wheel which look very annoying and the paddle shifting animations are almost not there.

So Forza 4's gonna be on 4 discs?

Forza 4 E3 2010:

Forza 4 E3 2011:

I agree about the lobster hands on Forza 3. They had it right on the Forza 4 E3 2010 Demo but then they changed it back. :indiff: Atleast they made the cockpit view much better and so far the lighting which is a big improvement from Forza 3.

I can see AutoVista being it's own disk, with the full game being on 2, so 3 in total. Wouldn't matter to me. I'd install everything from the get go and not worry one bit.

More likely it'll be 2.

Realistically, 2 disks again, with the 2nd disk being a content install. Probably will be a big install (10 gig?) this time though.

Then the driveable cars probably won't be 800,000 polygons will they? Unless that's the information we'll be downloading. And I also suspect that all the DLC cars will be featured in Autovista...so...DLC packs will probably be close to a Gig each now...so...Great! I'm all for making the game bigger. Bigger is better, right. Still hope the new Xbox has Blu-ray just to see what T10 can do with it...them and 343 Studios.

One, the next Xbox won't be using Blu-ray. Microsoft will have none of that foolishness; if they have to, they'll resurrect HD-DVD. Two, The models can still span across 2 (or if need be, 3) discs. It depends how the DVD is formatted.

It'll likely require a mandatory install anyway.

Forza 3 can be played on an HDD-less xbox. All you need is disk 1. You can even access all the content on disk 2, pending you perform the install shuffle to the system memory (it's broken up in small parts to fit on board memory). I would NOT recommend this as it's very time consuming and annoying copying certain parts of disk 2. In this day and age, you shouldn't have a 360 without an HDD anyways so enjoy the benefits of optional installs. I do the full installs when the game is in my hands for the first time. It's what I did with FM3, installed both disks and all DLC cards (got the LCE), and I would have done the same with FM2 but optional HDD installs were not in practice then. Since I came from the PC days of installing multiple disks to get a game running, I don't have any problems with installing the game to my HDD. GT5 has a mandatory install of less than a GB and an optional one (which I did and it didn't help much in load times) for the 'full' install of over 6GB. It's an install I do once and I don't worry about it.

REGARDING INSTALL:

One of the latest updates allowed that ANY USB memory stick can be used an external HDD > up to 16GB.

Simple 16GB stick (which cost like peanuts these days) will be your new install-HDD for both disc contents.

Microsoft will have none of that foolishness; if they have to, they'll resurrect HD-DVD.

Oh, come on Terro, what is this all about :D

Oh, come on Terro, what is this all about :D

You know what I mean.

Microsoft isn't going to pay Sony royalties for a knowingly superior media format when they can just resurrect HD-DVD. Something they had a hand in killing...

They will not. If they opt for physical media - and they will, 100% DD is at least one generation away - they will go BluRay.

Besides, Sony is not the only company in BluRay Disc Association - there are 9 companies which are founders and 19 which are users.

Besides, LG made a big move in December 2010, allowing companies to license BluRay patents without paying royalties. Notice LG was the single most important company that raised BR format, and that was one of the reasons of their recent court dispute with Sony which lead to short cease of PS3 sales and lasted for month overhere in Europe.

As an user, I would be very disappointed if MS do not opt for BR in the NextBox.

Bluray isn't only Sony though. I bet you Microsoft does something with bluray before Apple does, and Apple sits on their board! I think next xbox will have bluray.
