The reason RedBull isn’t pleased is because of a change of regulations during the season, again.

When Mercedes couldn’t pitstop faster then RedBull and Williams, they started news about safety.
The advantage both teams had due to practice and and teamwork then got ruled out.

It isn’t because RedBull now has an advantage or disadvantage.
It's Red Bull's mantra.
Complain when they're not at the front that the FIA isn't doing anything to get them forwards, then when they're at the front, Complain that the FIA are pandering to the demands of other teams that haven't done as good a job as them.

If you expect anything else from a team you're sorely mistaken.

It is a different thing and can be addressed differently by the teams. Instead of being as big of an aerodynamic concern, it is more mechanical so can be fixed with updates to suspension so car doesn't bounce as much when car is closer to the ground. Easier said than done however with the more primitive suspension systems this year.
Doesn't matter. They're still harmful, severe (now illegal) vertical oscillations. Mercedes is still performing the absolute worst in that regard.
They sounded confident they will be closer to the front this race half heartedly saying Red Bull and Ferrari will be the benchmark. If Ferrari have to lower power as a temporary fix for their reliability and Red Bull have to raise the car due to wear on planks then could put Mercedes right at the front if they can sort out their suspension.
Those are so many "ifs" that it's hardly an argument anymore. Yes, if Mercedes is suddenly, magically blessed with completely perfect circumstances they'll win everything from here on out. Same goes for every single other team. Mercedes is certainly not going to go from breaking their drivers backs for P4 to an easy win in one week. No matter how much Ferrari and Red Bull need to adjust their setups. Unless they were really just performing theatrics in Baku.

Someone compiled all the porpoising data so far.

General discussions in the thread is that the Mercedes data doesn't seem as bad as it physically appears, & other teams may be more affected than thought.

So was Mick.

Renault, Ferrari, and Mercedes have acted the same way. To be at the top you always try to bend the rules and rulings to your advantage.

Because it backfired so now Russell's season is going to be compromised because of Hamilton.
Except George also called for change and is happy.

Despite the consensus in the paddock being that Mercedes will suffer from the new rules, Russell praised the governing body for taking swift action.

"I think this is something that everybody thinks Mercedes is sort of pushing for, but from a pure performance side of things... we don't really want change because if there's change, you never know if it's going in your favour or against you," Russell told Sky Sports

"I think it's something that we as drivers have spoken about globally, that we want change moving forward because what we went through last weekend just wasn't sustainable.

"It doesn't matter what boat you're in, you're either porpoising and you're hitting the ground, or you have no porpoising so you're running the car really close to the ground and you're bottoming, so either way you look at it, it's not great.

"I think it's promising to see that they've taken action on this straight away and it's not taken them weeks and months and political decisions to change something like this. When it comes to safety, things need to be resolved as soon as possible, so I'm not surprised to see it come in so quickly but I think it's good for everyone."
As for this..
How many races in a row are people going to believe that Mercedes gave their golden boy a purposfully compromised setup? Even if you're a fan at a certain point reality has to sink in. He just isn't fast or motivated this year.
HAM has won 7 titles and is not getting any younger. He's not particularly interested plodding around in 4th/5th with a stable, but ultimately off the pace car. He's chasing more wins, and to do that he/Merc have been going bold with setup and testing new parts in the hope they find a breakthrough. They are not giving him "purposefully compromised" setups.

RUS on the other hand is pretty content doing so, he's finishing higher than ever before and will get any upgrades that are worthwhile. Merc also maintain one car stable in the points.

Seems like the low profile tires are to blame for all the bouncing. The high profile tires absorbed so much more impact.

Hamilton was able to close the gap a bit to Russell with his new floor but Russell still finishing ahead in P1.

Incredibly toilet takes aside, Yuki Tsunoda has a grid penalty for exceeding this season's engine component allocation having now used four ICE, four turbos, four MGU-H and four MGU-K components from the maximum of three permitted of each.

Each of them gets him a 10-place grid penalty, so he will start last with a 40-place penalty.

Might as well make him start in the St. Lawrence river with that kind of grid penalty. I understand why they have to write out the full penalty but it is at most going to be 19 places unless we have random newcomers this weekend.

Rain for tomorrow according to the local forecast, but clear and sunny for the race.

It's not like he's the most public, vocal, famous and successful driver on the grid. Weird of me to take note of his performance.
The most public driver? What does that even mean lol. But if that’s what you need to say to justify the obsession, it’s a free world I guess.

It means if there is a story or article about an F1 driver the greatest chance is that it's about him.

It doesn't work like that anymore. Any driver with a grid penalty of more than 15 places has to start at the back of the grid. The penalties don't add up to anything beyond 15 places, it's all just straight to the back of the grid at that point.

Leclerc penalty confirmed but not for the expected ICU or Turbo, but the Italian electronics. Of course he may still take those and start entirely at the back.

Guess we have to hope Carlos and/or Perez can put up a fight to Verstappen at the front.

Either that or the Wall of Champions does its job. I'd rather see Sainz get some much deserved luck, but you never know.

With these temperatures Quali is going to be quite damp at the very least, inters. Definitely full wet right now.

Since Leclerc has a brand new engine, he will start from the back.
Wise move. If you are already at the back, why not throw as much parts as you can. With the idea that overtaking is possible here at the chicane(s), start/finish and hairpin.
