FP1 in just under an hour. Get ready for five minutes of "ooh, track is new" followed by 55 minutes of inane HAM vs VET waffle from the commentators.

Don't forget the Losail-style kerbs and 20 minutes of speculation about the tyres being too soft and popping in the race because of the kerbs...

I'm hoping the kerbs won't be such a glaring danger as they may seem in light of Qatar, since this track won't feature a whole minute of back to back flat out corners where the kerbs will get pushed at a high load.

That is, to say, I'd hope a kerb might be one less thing to be deeply anxious about, which should be a welcome relief from a very full plate of those.

I've never wanted a routine Hamilton pole-to-win so much before!

In a surprising turn of events it seems HAM is choosing today of all days to do a job swap. Brian, 56, from Cheltenham will be driving the W12 whilst HAM takes his place as a marshal.

Track still seems challenging for them but more flowing.

On another note, has Jos ever been pictured with a mask covering his nose?

On a further note, Natalie Pinkham has talents but leading commentary is not one. Second time I've heard her do one, and it still sounds so awkward and stilted.

The track flows so much better. From the looks of it, the racing should be great! Guess we'll have to wait and see. Red Bull and Max already looks a lot more settled.

The two dunces are 9th and 10th, Schumacher gives Verstappen DRS on the last lap.

Scenes.

Red Bull better hope that they've just forgotten to take off the sandbags otherwise this championship looks done and dusted.

I think Red Bull's time was better in race simulation than qualy as Max was faster than Lewis when they started doing their race sim so at this point in time, both teams could actually be sandbagging.
