Who will win the Driver's Championship?

He'll get away it because it messes the championship up otherwise. Liberty need him and Max on the front row together.
True but I still think he'd get away with it any other time, unlike Saudi. It really wasn't anything. People get blocked all the time in FP, it only matters if it's done dangerously like Saudi. Quali, that's a different matter of course.

People only want it bc of the implication of a possible 10-place grid penalty. Without that, they wouldn’t care. Same way they were conveniently quiet at Max impeding someone yesterday.

It’s been reported it won’t be investigated, anyway. But none of that stopping folks from acting like it’s the “exact same” as Jeddah. Just as they did the yellow flag situation between Jeddah and Qatar. Over-react Andys.

Edit* Even Red Bull has noted it but won’t protest.

Well, of course. It won't be the last time this weekend I'm sure. It's one reason I don't follow most sports to a serious degree, hardcore fans can be so absurd and take everything way too seriously, forget it's just a game for entertainment.

EDIT: Video of VER doing literally the exact same thing in FP1. It wasn't penalty worthy for him, nor is the HAM one.

Has the pit exit been reconfigured at all? It seems like a dangerous position for any car to be joining the track. Usually the pit exit puts the exiting car away from the racing line.

Bring on Q1!

I see red bull again messing about with that rear wing again but mercedes are the ones with the questionable wing, eh???

Is a red flag really necessary? Just use a VSC!
Not even that. Local yellow, race control look at cameras and GPS to see if there's a gap on track, then tell a marshal to run out and pick that up. That needed a 20 second gap at most and it could be easily picked up. We'd be embarrassed to red flag that at Silverstone...

Why are Lewis and Valtteri going out for another lap? I never understood why risk go out when they're fully assured they're in Q2. By going out they risk being caught in some obstruction incident or worse, crashing.

Probably practice for Q3? I'm guessing they'll be on harder tires for Q2.

Frontrunners love to do this in Q1 even when they're two seconds away from elimination. One passable lap will be enough for Merc and Red Bull. I remember Singapore 2013 Vettel did one lap in Q3 right at the start and still got pole by like three tenths.

Yeah that must be the case, and perhaps try different brake bias settings and all those things.

But also even for one hot lap you need an out lap, hotlap and cool down lap. So for those 3 laps you're also adding mileage and stress to the engine. It must be minimal and the benefits must outweigh the wear and tear. However, intuitively I always thought playing it safe and doing the bare minimum of running would be the best for the car and the team.

When will the FIA actually do something about slow driving and S3 shenanigans in quali? Every damn week. They threaten to stamp it out, then ignore it when it happens.

It's worth a shot I guess but it reads as desperation. Hamilton will have better tyres later in the race on low fuel.
Not so much desperation, but a response to Max' flat spot

Horner is saying the tire strategy is about 50/50 as to which is the best, but they were trying for the mediums

Never... unless someone gets hurt (or worse). I've been complaining about this for a while and so many people just don't seem to care.

That's probably a good call by Red Bull to try to pass on the start. It would probably be very difficult to pass Mercedes as the race gets on with the same tires.
