He went off track, that may be a penalty!
I literally blinked and missed it. My wife is watching this Gucci show and I heard Selma Hayek’s voice. ;) looked up and looked back down to see Leclerc slowing at the hairpin.

I don't think that was worthy of a 5 second penalty. Leclerc hardly gained an advantage when Perez wasn't close enough to pass at the chicane. Going around the outside was never going to work, any driver would obviously place their car there and it really wasn't obstructive driving. Worth a gamble from Perez, of course, but he wasn't pushed off.

They seemed to be exactly where they would have been anyway.

Alonso crossed the line 11 ms behind Vettel.
The situation was so confusing that after the checkered flag, his engineer told him to "keep pushing", which he did until he reach others slowing cars.

Verstappen is World Champion - great to see some (excellent) racing today, and great to see the championship decided at Suzuka once again... fortunate, though, that the whole event wasn't a disaster...

Outside moves have been working all race, Perez had him all day.

Verstappen becomes the first driver the win the world championship without having enough points to win the world championship.

What the actual **** is going on here?

To me, the gap wasn't there at all. Perez would have had a better chance had he tried the inside line there instead.

Like I said, strange penalty. But Verstappen is a worthy champion. He's had an excellent season.

Full points have been awarded because the race was resumed. To clarify him winning it.

Total confusion with the Dutch commentators. And not just with them I think. Even Verstappen is confused.

Congrats to Max. It must be a special feeling especially since it's the home of Honda. I'm no fan of Redbull by any means, but I've always been fond of Honda.

Max must be the first champion to be not sure if he's champion.

This does confirm all the conspiracies about FIA helping Ferrari in the past. There's clearly some mixing of staff with this level of incompetence.

Full points have been awarded. Reduced points are awarded if the race is stopped and cannot be resumed (sporting regulations). They resumed, so full points can be awarded.
Thanks for explaining this. 👍 Dutch commentator just repeated this.
