That is a totally stupid idea though. It is supposed to be a Sport. Not Sports Entertainment.
So then they need to throw out all the nonsense regulations obsessed with ‘parity’. Open up the regs and let the teams build turbine-powered four wheel drive ground effect monsters that need G suits to be driven. Either it’s a sport or it’s entertainment.

My criticism was more for them not changing anything between the two races. They wanted to try reverse grid races and literally every team but Mercedes (of course) were all for it. Merc should’ve been told “this is what we’re doing and if you don’t like it you can leave.” Call their bluff, because even if they did leave that would only benefit everyone but them. Starting grids of these second races should’ve been the reverse of either championship position or finishing order of the first.

Reverse grid would've been stupid. It genuinely creates an artificial setup for the sake of entertainment, rather than for the sake of actually improving the racing. Also, taking into consideration Mercedes' (and the other teams) current performance this year, I don't think it would've done anything to change the grid order. If anything, I could see Ferrari getting much worse results.

According to this ESPN article, it appeared that several of the drivers weren't too keen on the idea, either.

Just woke up again...

Terrible for Nico.

Is Bottas even trying?

The end of Albon, wtf is he doing? Max is leaving Lec in the dust and he is struggeling in last.

It’s less of a gimmick than things like BOP or DRS or the cost caps and all the other stuff intended to be implemented in 2022.
It would’ve done a fair bit for the grid order. Coming through a field of 20 cars ain’t exactly easy, even if your car is 2 seconds quicker. It also opens up the possibility for more incidents that can affect the championship.

I'd say Seb would rather spend 90 minutes in Prost's old truck than drive the red Haas.

Hey look! Ocon is within a second of Stroll and we're watching the leaders go by.

Oh they finally put a little graphic up.

So here's a wild prediction for next week's race....

Ready to hear how wild it'll be?

Hamilton will get pole by nearly 2 seconds to no one's surprise, Mercedes will get a 1-2 by nearly 20 seconds and Max will be bored out of his mind again in P3 all while Ferrrai embarrass themselves again.

Crazy predictions i know! :P

Is the cost cap coming in next year or is that with the new cars? I’ll be amazed if Mercedes don’t win every race this year. Already looking forward to next year

Next year, but they will run the same cars as this year, so it won't make a difference yet

I really thought Stroll would have move up some...at least going for P4,5 or 6. Guess it's not that straight forward even with faster car than those around him.

Is this so you can pretend that's what one stupid idea being dropped means? I'm impressed.

The problem is all the circuits would go bust trying to keep up the track modifications needed to make it safe. The faster the cars, the bigger runoff areas needed, the deeper the tyre barriers, the more expense for the circuits. I'd love what you're proposing, but unfortunatly it's just not viable.

They had a power unit failure and couldn't start the car
Well, yes... but that's so broad and I don't buy it.

Don’t they turn up their Merc engines to eleven in every race? They’re probably paying the price right now.
Or... saving the PU for Checo when he gets back? Isn't that just as likely?
