I'm sure the red will be good in avoiding any potential Ferrari bad luck.

Earlier there were rumors that Audi was going to but Sauber and that there'll be an announcement this weekend.

Sounds like they were true

I hope they're better at developing the engine than they are at covering a car with a sheet though.

Audi Sport will enter F1 as a power unit supplier in 2026.

Some interesting bits of information from the press conference:
  • They expect to be competitive within 3 years of racing
  • They don't need to earn a profit from this
  • They have not yet decided on a chassis partner, most likely to work with an existing team rather than a new entry
  • They said if Porsche enters, their factory will be in the UK, teasing the Red Bull partnership

Pretty much what we already knew/was rumoured. They'll take a stake in Sauber, Porsche will take the stake in Red Bull. No outright new teams.

We all know this is the end - it'll get replaced by another soulless street circuit paid for by a despotic regime.
Let's hope it gets a worthy sendoff.

Well, they do need another venue where women are second-class citizens and homosexuality is illegal, to go with Singapore, Bahrain, United Arab Emirate, Russia, China, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Texas, and Florida.

Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan are still to be prized open and have their juices sucked out. Plenty of desert car parks still to be constructed. Hell, even Afghanistan probably has a decent enough chance.

There’s basically nothing left of Libya, could build a track there
Don't want to bother you but just 2 month ago the FIA delegates took a visit to the new built 4.5 km long Circuit Sidi Daoui de Oued Zem in Morocco. Rumoured to discuss if there need to be any more changes for the Grade 1 license and how they will develop trackside infrastructure like pits, grandstands, etc. to host F1. Track was build specifically for F1 in 2020.

Morocco would be less egregious than our predictions. There is at least some history of gentleman racing there from the 50s.

Btw. nice punt to Mercedes from Audi in their press release that it would be “the first time in more than a decade that a Formula 1 power train will be built in Germany”.

I just hope they won't kill Sauber when leaving F1 again and we will be on the grid with 9 teams from 2030.

I do actually welcome new locations, as long as they are proper tracks and not dull car park circuits. We just need to protect the classics, and there's really no reason (beyond the financial) why any country should have multiple races per season. Wasn't right when they did it with the "European" GP to appease the German and Spanish fans or "San Marino" for the Italians, not right now with 3 or 4 potential US races. Just rotate every other year.

Meanwhile a picture from earlier showing the awesome view from the new stand. I gather it's rather pricey though.

Dry track for FP1, but overcast.

Max the only one pushing so far for some reason.

EDIT: Allocation penalties for six drivers, including the lead two.

Which one will actually be at the back though?

Is it even the back if everyone is there?

I guess it sort of makes tomorrow's qualifying session important then. I would figure they would penalize them based on how they would grid up.

He's definitely having fun with it. He knows it annoys certain people.

EDIT: Big crash in F3 this morning. All drivers OK.

Halo to Halo contact that looks like.

It astonishes me how we didn't have more fatalities before the Halo was introduced, because there have seen so many massive crashes hitting it since it was introduced.
Or maybe it makes drivers race and crash harder because they feel more invincible?

We definitely got lucky over the years, I don't think racing drivers have changed anything. A minor variance here or there in some incidents over the decades and you'd have had a lot more deaths.

Brundle getting a whack on the head by a Benneton at Brazil 1994 is the first one that comes to mind, but there are countless examples. Any small change in angle/ferocity and his neck would have surely been broken.

The "back of the grid" is getting rather crowded. Two more added.

Leclerc has binned it, lightly taps the wall and we get yet another premature red flag as he's out of the gravel 5 seconds later.

Wow, even BBC Radio is calling out Red Bull's horsecrap now.

Lambiase: "We just went through a yellow, Max."
Verstappen: "There wasn't a flag!"
Lambiase: "Yeah well, there wasn't one in Qatar either."

Met with "Oh come on!" by the BBC commentators.

Edit: Bahahahaha, I just got onto the BBC F1 website's "Which famous movie star does Jos Verstappen look like" convo.

I like the way Redbull moan about rule changes benefitting one/other teams, yet it was a rule change/bend that enabled their driver to clinch the WC.
