Halo to Halo contact that looks like.

It astonishes me how we didn't have more fatalities before the Halo was introduced, because there have seen so many massive crashes hitting it since it was introduced.
Or maybe it makes drivers race and crash harder because they feel more invincible?
Confirmation bias. Any crash in which the general area surrounding the cockpit comes into any contact with anything at all will have people saying that the halo saved the driver's life. Considering that we didn't have five deaths a year across F1-F3 before 2018, that's obviously wildly untrue, but considering that it did its job for Grosjean (probably the only time it did anything) it has already proven its value either way.

Wow, even BBC Radio is calling out Red Bull's horsecrap now.

Lambiase: "We just went through a yellow, Max."
Verstappen: "There wasn't a flag!"
Lambiase: "Yeah well, there wasn't one in Qatar either."

Met with "Oh come on!" by the BBC commentators.
British media being salty over Verstappen, that's crazy 🤯

Plainly untrue, firstly, there's no 'probably about it, it absolutely saved his life in that crash. There have been numerous accidents where the halo was instrumental in protecting the driver from serous injury, even just a few races ago at Silverstone, Zhou would have been skating on his head without the halo, Nissany would be seriously injured if not deceased in his F2 incident at the same race, Leclerc at Spa in 2018, Peroni at Monza in 2018, Hamilton at Monza last season, just to cherry pick some off the top of my head.

That's just impossible. That would imply that without the halo, we would have several drivers dying every year. A slaughterfest as if it were the 1950s/1960s/1970s. Yet only three people actually died in the past fourty years (five if you include the entirety of 1982). Unless something happened in 2018 that would've made F1 over 1000% more deadly if it wasn't for the halo, it's confirmation bias.

So you're saying the halo did nothing in those accidents?

He's not arguing the probability of the halo saving Grosjean's life but that that incident is 'probably' the only time a halo did save someone's life.

With Albon making Q3, it now means every driver on the grid has made Q3 at least once this season. Got to be some sort of record, I guess.

Sounds like Ferrari ... are still Ferrari

Fail Formula 1 GIF

"What are these tires?
Sorry, it was a mistake."

Are they even trying not to screw up.
It's just truly amazing at this point. I'm totally at a loss for words for how a team with so much experience seemingly can't go a single week without getting something wrong. :banghead:

Edit: Sainz doing 190 through Pion, and holding on for dear life.

I wouldn't be very surprised if he still wins it from the back
Well with so many penalties he's not even really at the back in 15th, so certainly possible given the pace he's shown all weekend. Biggest problem is going to be avoiding any tangles on L1.

Does anyone have the actual grid? I've completely lost track of who's where

Take the actual results and move VER, LEC, OCO, NOR, ZHO, MSC to the back in the order they qualified (So MSC last), then move BOT to the slot above them. Simple!

Red Bull and Max on a league of their own....only driver to reach 1.43s all weekend. At that rate, Max will just breeze pass everyone by lap 15 and be solidly in the lead to win the race comfortably.

HAM in disbelief he's still 1.8s slower.

I don’t know when the owners of Spa decided to build a totally massive grandstand on top of the hill, but it really takes away some of the charm at Radillion. Just something I noticed while watching qualifying.

As for the session itself, boring and predictable once again.
