Ferrari: "So if we stop now, we'll end up behind Gasly."

LecLerc: "...Why would we stop now?"

Ferrari: Fails to answer the actual question.

What the hell is going on in that pit wall?
I would hope Ferrari is giving hypotheticals here but it is probably better for Leclerc's sanity to just respond cynically to the pit wall for the rest of the year.

The problem I have with DRS is that it seems to give you the position for free at most tracks. Personally I do not see the value it brings to this generation of cars with which the design philosophy was to make them able to race closer to each other in the first place.
Yes, I agree. If these cars are supposed to be able to race closer then DRS' effects should be decreased.

I don't recall if there has been any more updates but last year they were talking about keeping DRS this season just to see how well the new regulations were working, incase they didn't really work as intended. Hopefully they're taking note which tracks it is needed at, if any, and next season it will be reduced at least, maybe even removed at some tracks.

If there was any doubt left on the championships, this race seems to end that. It would take a calamity to overcome the deficit. Hopefully the races themselves will spice up the rest of the year.

PER so far off VER in pace but the car is so good they can still get a 1-2.

Ferrari - "A calamity you say?!?!? We can do it!!!!"

"No, you misunderstood, a calamity in the opposite direction. Not another one of your calamities."

Isnt this the first race where the new parameters for bouncing and the floor stuff came into effect? Mercedes have gone backwards and Red Bull have extended their advantage.

Ugh Ferrari......what the 🤬 is wrong with that team???? There are 8 races left and this season is already done since they can't get their 🤬 together. Looking at how this race is unfolding, it's safe to say that Red Bull has both driver and constructors championship clinched. I hope Mercedes pass them for #2 on the constructors.

Hamilton still experienced porpoising, albeit violently, this race.

I don’t think it has gotten anything to do with Ferrari screwing up this race, more than it has to do with the fact that Red Bull have a car that is in a class of its own.

...and the problem for any neutral fans like myself is that unlike the Mercedes days, there is no real chance of intra-team fighting at Red Bull. Most of the time PER can't match VER and in the rare occasion he can, the team make him move over anyway.

I get the Red Bull pace...they are a force to reckon with this season. However for my take, that discussion just now over the radio just showed that they have no idea what they doing. I can appreciate checking with your driver for strategy call but IMO that was a bit much..

This race also highlights how mixed up grids (and reverse grids, if they ever did them) really don't/wouldn't work in current F1. The performance gaps are too big so that the slower cars don't even bother trying to race the faster cars behind them, and most of the time can't even if they do try to.

So much excitement about the mixed up grid here and it was all sorted within 25% of the race with no real drama.

You need the whole grid to be within 1-1.5s max for this to be exciting.

I think it’s safe to say that we all knew from the start Checo was to be the Bottas/Massa/Barrichello at RBR. Checo doesn’t care, he is just happy he found a seat. I don’t believe RBR will ever field two equal drivers in their team, that much was clear when they kicked Dani out of the team.

I appreciate that he did, but...

"I couldn't see him"

Negligence is not an excuse. Sorry, Lewis.
I think he was just framing it as an accident rather than him purposely not giving any space. At fault, but not maliciously so.

I'm not saying it was intentional. It was 100% accidental. However, it was 100% his fault and trying to explain his error as the inability to see him (blind spot) is simple negligence. If you aren't sure, you give space- where else would he have been?
You seen the mirrors in an F1 car? Perfectly reasonable explanation. He took the blame, what more do you want.
See above.

LAT running in last, 16 seconds behind MSC whilst ALB is P10. Yet somehow Williams are still considering keeping him?

No I know you weren't, I'm saying that HAM said that to make it clear it wasn't intentional squeezing, as some people online have already been suggesting. Not that it really makes it that much better that it was just negligence, but yeah.

In seriousness, I have a feeling that Williams either have lost any potential replacements for Latifi, or are trying to pressure Logan Sargeant to make up his mind quickly.

Ah yes the keyboard warriors coming out of the woodworks to talk about how talentless Hamilton is. And even when someone comments how he has come from last to 1st before, the response is “it was the car”, so so very dumb. No one has as many wins as Hamilton without being an excellent driver. So disingenuous.

Back in reality, Verstappen is amazing, wow, what a pace, what drive. He’s so good. Just shows that Perez isn’t even close to his level.
