Certainly turns the championship upside downPiastri leading the championship. Stop the count!
Lawson got 10 secs today for leaving the track and gaining an advantage. I'm not sure why his penalty was different than the one given to Max.Didn't they change this "not giving a place back"-cheating-overtake-penalty from 5s to 10s last year to avoid it?
They usually take the added difficulty that a start brings into account.Lawson got 10 secs today for leaving the track and gaining an advantage. I'm not sure why his penalty was different than the one given to Max.
Especially when you don't bother trying to take the corner. They usually take the added difficulty that a start brings into account.

Wouldn’t have happened if Max had got a good/better start. If Lando had done that the “fans” would’ve been all over him."The Stewards reviewed positioning/marshalling system data, video, timing, telemetry and in-car video evidence and determined that car 81 [Piastri] had its front axle at least alongside the mirror of Car 1 [Verstappen] prior to and at the apex of corner 1 when trying to overtake Car 1 on the inside.
"In fact, Car 81 was alongside Car 1 at the apex.
"Based on the Driver’s Standards Guidelines, it was therefore Car 81’s corner and he was entitled to be given room.
"Car 1 then left the track and gained a lasting advantage that was not given back.
"He stayed in front of Car 81 and sought to build on the advantage.
"Ordinarily, the baseline penalty for leaving the track and gaining a lasting advantage is 10 seconds.
"However, given that this was lap one and turn one incident, we considered that to be a mitigating circumstance and imposed a 5 second time penalty instead."
To be fair it worked like 3 times when he pulled this move on Lando last year.Red Bull's demented mewling is just on another level now.
They posted this as evidence that Verstappen was ahead at the apex:

He was already winding the lock off and bailing at that point. Piastri was ahead from braking to entry to apex...

Drive to Survive is going to be hilarious next year, can't wait for a mix of all CH's moaning about everything to land.Red Bull's demented mewling is just on another level now.

Such a love-hate relationship with max at this point. Clearly one of the fastest drivers in F1 history, but such a hypocrite when it comes to wheel to wheel racing, and his team leaders are the worst. It probably would have been a much more exciting race if Max had just given the position back, I don't understand why it was a 5 second penalty instead. The inconsistent stewarding is a constant problem causing issues nearly every other weekend.
Absolutely fantastic race from Oscar. 🇦🇺
Hard disagree.I would make the argument he has single handedly lowered the driving standards of the sport for a farcical level.
Now?Well I completely hate him and RB now.
Visa Cash App Racing Bulls.Wait, is VCarb now called Racing Bulls? I swear, they change the name of that team every damn season. (I also still think it’s a waste of a team slot to effectively have two Red Bull teams. Though I suppose if they have the money and nobody else, what can one do?)
He did, but only this year, he had no input on the development of the current car and is apparently only working on next years car.I thought Newey moved to Aston Martin…
He started work on March 1st, and is focused on the 2026 car. Not much he can do about a car that started the design process 18 months+ before he got there...Why are both Haas and Williams ahead of Aston Martin? I thought Newey moved to Aston Martin…
Man, between that fact and all the LMH/LMDh entries that’re coming, it seems that 2026 is gonna be a very exciting year for motorsport. Isn’t that the first year Cadillac will be in F1, too?He started work on March 1st, and is focused on the 2026 car. I totally agree with this, but the reason I've quoted it was in memory of Hamilton's 2010 campaign; throughout the year, Lewis was subject to harsher and more stringent punishments each time above the normal amounts in order to try and temper his behaviour and it's something which Max needs - he's been close to the limit of his penalty points for years, he's shown that, left to his own devices, he's simply incapable of driving in a sportsmanlike manner and is willing to bend/break the rules/cheat (delete as applicable) instead of race cleanly when wheel-to-wheel.Hard disagree.
He definitely has, but it's not single-handedly. If it wasn't for Red Bull excusing everything he does and the weak stewards failing to penalise it, and the FIA failing to either react or proactively implement proper regulations to give the stewards less room for cowardice, he wouldn't keep getting away with it and then keep doing it.
