My idea consists of adding the tracks on the Formula 1 championship in Gran Turismo 5.

Currently only 5 tracks on the calendar are in the game. Still missing 16 tracks according to the list:

The problem is, most of them are made by the same designer (Hermann Tilke, the only ones that are not designed by him is the Australian, Canadian, British and the Brazilian GPs) and most of his said tracks are excruciatingly boring, mundane and with little to no flow in their design.
Besides, there is also the potential copyright and licensing issues with the track owners, and the FIA that pretty much regulate how tracks are used with licenses.

but even so, are Formula 1 tracks.
I understand your opinion about them, each one has its own.

All tracks have their rights, I believe, none appeared for free in GT5.

True, and technically if you count tracks used from a few years back, the Fuji and Indy Road circuits could be considered F1 tracks. but in terms of modern courses I know what you mean. If there was one F1 track I could choose from all of those it would be the Brazilian one, a great amount of sweeping corners and great amounts of height elevation scarcely seen in many of the more modern tracks, really makes the racing exciting as well :P

And the only reason the Ferrari F1 cars got in was because the FIA cant stop Ferrari (or just a pay-check, or Bernie being their housewife letting them off or other similar reasons)

The only F1 tracks I'd have in the game other than the ones included are Singapore and Abu Dhabi and that's for their looks more than anything. Singapore at night looks great in F1 2010 & 2011 as does Abu Dhabi at sunset, the rest of the tracks look boring and although some are good to drive on, there's enough boring looking tracks in GT5. That's probably why I prefer GT's original tracks.

Yup, if pushed they would be my 2 choices as well. I've had the same overhead shot of the Singapore track as my wallpaper for months now. It's beautiful.

The only thing stopping GT from using F1 tracks is the F1 game franchise and Codemasters

GT5 isn't an F1 game... Why not pick another race series and complain at the lack of those tracks!?

The only guy who is complaining here is you my friend.
I am suggesting an idea.
You know, things are quite different.

No please. No!!!

No more Tilke tracks. They absolutely suck. They lack thrill and flow, they're just a boring collection of right corners and short straights. Fuji F and Nurburging GP/F are some of the least favoured tracks in this forums. Driving in front of a TV lacks a bit of emotion, doing it in a Tilke track makes people die of boredom.

Apologies, looking back; that post maybe seemed a bit harsh :ouch: ...I'd like to see an advanced track editor with the potential to recreate and share any track. Here's to dreaming

His tracks are great :)

If I have to pick 3 of them it would be Sepang in Malaysia, beautiful Yas marina circuit in Abu Dhabi and Budh track in India.

China track is also good but these 3 will be great additions for GT6

In fairness, though, one of those tracks is missing from F1 as well. I'm speaking of Austin, of course, home of the USGP - if they finish it in time! There have been work stoppages, contract disputes... who knows if they'll be ready by November? [Note my location; I'm ground zero for this thing!]

I'd much rather have some places like Sebring, Road Atlanta, Road America, and Mosport, not to mention Bathurst, Donnington, and a bunch of others.

Much rather have

-BRNO
-Dubai Autodrome (much better than Abu dhabi IMO)
-OSCHERSLEBEN
-ZOLDER
-PORTIMÂO
-Autopolis
-Bathurst
-HOCKENHEIM
-ROAD AMERICA
-Infinion
-San marino
-Targa Florio

You took the words right out of my mouth. Its amazing that with all the designs that guy has come up with, he has only come up with one truly great corner. Thats turn 8 in istanbul

One great corner though doesn't excuse him from a career of butchering some great tracks (Hockenheim) and designing tracks not fit for amateur racing, let alone F1.

The only circuit of his I would like to see in GT5 is Yas Marina but thats because it would look good, not because of the circuit layout.

Also, he has worked on Silverstone, he designed the new section, so he is responsible for losing Bridge

Formula 1 Grand Prix's that are run on Hermann Tilke designed tracks are:

Bahrain
Malaysia
China
Turkey
Valencia (European GP)
Singapore
Korea
India
Abu Dhabi
United States (Starting in 2012)

Hermann Tilke's track designs are atrocious if you ask me but F1 races on those tracks make up half the F1 schedule. Those track designs are here to stay.

As for getting those tracks in GT5, I think it would be a lot of hoops for PD to jump through concerning the legalities of F1 and FIA properties (as far as video games go) and Codemasters rights to those properties. Albert Park (Australia) Barcelona, Monaco, Circuit Gilles Villeneuve (Canada) Silverstone, Nurburgring, Hockenheimring, Hungaroring, Spa, Monza, Suzuka and Interlagos (Brazil) are not owned/run/managed by the FIA or F1 so it's easier for PD to get tracks like that into the game.

If PD were able to pick one Hermann Tilke track and get it in GT5, it would be Abu Dhabi's Yas Marina Circuit. In my opinion, the only track Tilke got right....

The only F1 tracks I want are Interlagos, and Imola. My life would be complete with these two...

More F1 tracks should probably be last on a long list of other things that should be done. I guess I'm one of those people that find them boring to drive on. Unless you're in an F1 car that is, but this game doesnt have too many of those...

No F1 circuit is owned/run/managed by the FIA or FOM, the FIA are international motorsports governing body, they don't own the tracks, they just make the rules and FOM organise F1 and own image rights and other intellectual properties associated with F1, again they don't have anything to do with owning/running/managing the tracks. The tracks are usually either owned by the countries government or a business consortium, PD could take their pick of any of them if they were willing to buy the licence from the owners.

Because this is his thread and he decided he want's F1 to be the topic. Easy as that, don't like it don't post.
And yes I'd love to see all the F1 tracks in the game in all of their configurations instead of some BS gigantic arcade oval.

Or you can just save yourself the trouble and complain about them all at once :sly:

^ True story I just drove the track for the past hour at night...I guess it's good for one thing and that is braking in my X2011 engine among other cars.

Hermann Tilke ruins almost every 2nd race weekend with his boring tracks.

He may be a great designer and for sure all of his tracks are very safe etc, but how on earth could he come up with that pathetic track at Abu Dhabi with UNLIMITED RESSOURCES.
Just look at Valencia and Abu Dhabi and Valencia.... Worst tracks in the world.

I only like Malaysia and Istanbul from his tracks, Malaysia has a great flow, Istanbul has that too but also that great Turn 8 and the epic backstraight.

I stand corrected. Thank you sir!
