Changes/additions:

- practice and the race now take place on back to back days
- there will no longer be a practice highlight video, only text based results
- practice is now 40 mins instead of 60 mins
- a second season depends on how well this season goes. So far a nearly half empty grid means there probably wont be a second season. We need more cars.
- a slower feeder series using GP3 cars or Indy Lites depends on interest level. Again with a half empty grid its not looking good

I had some technical difficulties with the race, so it will be ran and and uploaded tomorrow.

Some cars would drive through the pits without stopping. They would eventually run out of gas and not finish.

I had actually recorded the whole thing and thought about uploading it, but that wouldnt be fair to those who didnt finish because of a bug.

I've been following the thread and if you guys need some fillers i wouldn't mind filling a grid spot. I'll just need to get home to do up a paint a bit later.

👍

Get me some paint tonight and your in tomorrows race

Full Race Results and Season points standings will be posted once everyone has time to view the race first.

Sadly I could not get rid of the pitstop bug. Its unfortunate because in extensive testing at this track before the season began there was no such problems. I tested today at Spain and its there too. Until I figure out whats causing it any car hit by the bug will be seen as suffering mechanical issues.

It turns out 'rubber banding' has been turned on for the first two races. The fast cars are still fast, but the gaps between everybody is not as large as it should be due to this 'rubber banding'. This will be removed starting from round 3 in Spain. It wasnt easy finding this, its not an option in game, you have to dig through many lines of text in a obscure file to turn it off. I actually found out about it searching for ways to improve the AI. I also found the lap times of some cars in race odd, so it all now makes sense.

I found another option that controls the amount of mistakes the AI make, like braking too late into a corner and missing it, etc. This was turned off for the first two rounds. It will be turned on starting with round 3 in Spain, but not to maximum. I watched a couple of races and Im satisfied with the amount of mistakes the AI make now when they made none none non-setup related in the first two rounds

I made some adjustments to the pitstops and after two race simulations the bug of cars driving through and not stopping has disappeared. Hopefully it stays that way.

More Regulation changes for Spain
  • Fuel tank has been reduced from 96 liters to 90 liters.
  • The time it takes to replace the front wing has been reduced to 15 seconds from 30, rear wing replacement has been reduced to 25 seconds from 50.
  • Random delay per tire on pitstop has been reduced from 3 seconds to 1. Some pitstops are 7.5 seconds others 17 seconds. The hope is this stops that making pitstop time differences more realistic

Congrats to optiongamers for getting redemption after Australia. I'm not sure why my car has no speed, as it didn't seem to be too bad in the turns. Also, good to know my half decent finishes were due to happenstance, now all is right with the world.

yabiggoose Fastest in Spain Practice

wiRmMV8.jpg

As you may have noticed there are a few new names to the series. These cars use my setup and are there to fill out the field. If any new people join they will be removed to make room.

When practice in Spain got away everything appeared to be normal until a certain car passed by the start finish line. It sounded different from all the others.

a5FCYWT.jpg

The mysterious car was a Porsche powered Lola chassis. All the other cars had the familiar Ford V8 sound. The sound of this car was different. Very different.

But why was Porsche here? Did the car have an unfair power advantage? The series wants to assure everyone it does not. But this car is the first of many. Will Porsche be an engine supplier next season? It looks likely. And theres possibily more on the way in the coming rounds who would like to test in a race before making thier engines available to everyone next season. If you want to hear how it sounds, be sure to tune in to the race.

I'm not sure where it's bad though. I've messed with everything and I've gained little to no ground going back to Jerez.

Actually, I say that, but in Australia it was only a couple of seconds, but I was still a lap or two away from being lapped. We'll see how it races before I wave the surrender flag and submit to being field filler.

I've made quite a few changes to my setup in an attempt to close up to the field in front... I expect to be racing at the back in Spain!

Hey guys, sorry Im gonna have to pull out of this series. Just dont have the time to do it week in week out with the setups etc! Would love to as its a great series but just cant fully commit!

Wait a minute how did my driver not post a qualifying lap. Was he too busy with something else or did he crash trying to get a lap in :irked:

Holy...crap....

That...was awesome. I was not at all confident about this race, but it went far better then I expected. Also, mad props to Megaumbreon and Swiftsmith. They were suddenly in the fight for the top positions today.

Now if you excuse me, I have to go celebrate.

@RACECAR lapped everyone except the top 5, what a race. 👍

Gotta give props to my racer as well. He was a man on a mission and went from 22nd to 6th. He still got lapped but boy what a run.
