Formula One 6th World Championship [2010 Edition]F1 2010-2016

I think reduced penaltys, drop the blue flag.
As long as were all aware to pull over when being lapped I have no problem.

Mics would help here guys.

Im ok to reduce penaltys.

Roh, can you consider my request to turn the rules down

I'd be happy if the rules were set to reduced

I'm in favour of setting the rules to reduced.

I think reduced penaltys

Plus me, seems to be a majority vote. Rules will be set to reduced in Melbourne

Overlooked eh? Come on Cap'n.

I aggree on reduced rules, but i'm fine with whatever, I just want clean racers.
Also I was wondering how many people used headsets because I could hook mine up if that helps?

Thanks.

How does one go about being includedin these races? I'm new to the site.
Thanks
Scott

Hey Scott. I totally missed this post first time around so sorry about that.

Unfortunetely this series is full to capacity, but there are others cropping up in the forum so just keep a look out. Its worth coming into these established threads from time to time too as there may be an occasional drop out.

Alternatively you could try starting up your own 👍

Guys just found out I might not be able to race this weekend (going to thorpe park with some mates). Its not definet yet however just like to give abit of warning and an early apology if I can't race.

Sorry
Luke

Since feedback was asked for with regards to times. The race times are fine as they are for me. 👍

Sorry to hear that Luke. DNF for you this week if you can’t make it I'm afraid.

That leaves 10 for the race at Albert Park. LewyOs can’t make it either, and I sincerely hope no one else drops out. I will try and be as accommodating as possible but I don’t want this to become a regular occurrence. I enjoyed racing with all of you last time out don’t get me wrong, but if people can’t commit to the full season I think it would be fairer to give up your position to someone who can.

Just something to ponder until after Melbourne 👍

Kind of following on from my last comment, I had planned to make the racing at a constant 9pm just so it’s easier for everyone to plan for and to remember when they're supposed to be online. It’s also the best time with regards to people getting off to bed or getting home from work, putting the kids to sleep and/or having their dinner too.

Like I say though, I will try and be as accommodating as possible. If for some reason you can’t make 9pm on a particular weekend, instead of bowing out of the race altogether, let the forum know. If everyone is ok to reschedule to an earlier or later time, I am perfectly happy to reorganise that. Just as long as people have lots of notice, and their is 100% agreement between all participants.

Capt please turn damage off on the race, till the patch doesn't come. This puncture thing is only disappointing. There won't be problem because of the tyre wear, if damage is off. Thanks:tup:

Sorry shark I'm against that. We all have the same risk.
If there was a way to turn off punctures but still break nose cones etc. That might have been a better option.

I'm happy to go with the majority as always.

I have to agree with Spag there Sharky. The ability to bounce off of a wall after making a catastrophic mistake sounds a bit silly to me.

With regards to the puncture issue I think Bahrain is definately the worse track on the calander. I dont expect many in Melbourne, if any at all!

I know its disappointing when it happens to you, but you have to remember it can happen to anyone! We all run the risk which makes clean racing all the more important.

In my opinion you definately run a higher risk of getting punctures when you race off line, go off track and make contanct. There has to penaltys for doing those kind of things!

I think I speak for the majority of people when I say I want to keep the series as sim as possible. I compromised with regards to TC and Pit lane, but those I think should be the limit.

Hey, Would anybody be against a short break i.e. 3 or 4 minutes between quali and the race?

As a smoker I'd use it to pop out for a crafty one but I suppose even if your not it gives a chance to get a drink, use the toilet, feed your goat etc.

If everyones happy we could just hold in the garage and not select go to race for a few minutes. If we're all in a PSN chat we could make sure everyone is ready. Noone wants delays so we could set a deadline. Even 2 or 3 minutes of waiting would be enough when added to loading time.

What do you all think?

I smoked during quali last week lol. It showed too.
Bloody fire marshalls on my case.

Yeah I was going to. Then I realised I needed to improve so I opted to go again instead.

So I take it you're not against it Spag?

Well ok, but this is not simulation. It's a bug in the game. Random like russian roulette. I always get punctures on each race/track, but then I never left the track. On real race you don't get puncture after 2 laps with good tyres.
+Racing line on track and auto gearbox are also not simulation;)

Trust me dude, if I was building a championship around myself then ALL aids would be off! Just like how I race in career.

As for this smoking issue popping up I guess I dont have a problem with it. Seems a tad unfair to make 80% of the people involved wait for others to fulfill a drug habit :P But everyone else can use the time to go pee or make a drink like you said. I always try to make sure people are ready before we start the race anyway so..., just dont take the mick ;)

I had a right nightmare that race, including my mandatory race puncture. Oh well, a points finish and finished reasonably well for my relative pace I think.

That was a really good race even though I got 2 punctures.

Definately one of my favorite tracks and was hoping for a high finish. Got a good lap in qualy, 1.27.9 I think, Spag just beat it and Douqa and Shark were miles ahead. Got a good start, took 3rd then I lagged and found myself in the grass. Ok, not the end of the world so I was going well got up to 5th again and at the start of lap 2(I know, lap 2!) I got a puncture, had to labour round to the pits and put on primes. Found myself dead last but I started to outpace Zeekon judging by the times on screen and eventually got ahead. Next was Roh and Sigma, got ahead of Sigma and was keeping up with Roh's times. Not sure how far he was ahead but eventually, I got a puncture on lap 12 or 13 and thought I would have to settle for 7th but then I think Roh got a puncture and with option tyres on I got ahead and managed to stay 6th to the end.

Also sorry to Spag who I almost hit at turn 1 near the end. You had lapped me I think but I'd just put options on and almost hit you in the straight.

Definately thought I could've finished higher if I hadn't dropped so much time after my 1st puncture but everyone gets them and with the patch coming, we shouldn't have to worry as much about them in future races.

Sorry to hear that Sig, did you spend any time on gravel or knocks.
No puncture for me.

Interested to hear who else suffered a puncture in tonights race.

Span into a wall chasing dean and suffered a damaged nose cone early on.
Decided to run with it till the mandatory pitstop. Yellow damage.

Really enjoyed it again tonight. Curteious driving all round.

Edit. No probes Jordy. Good set up you have there, you were smoking me on the pit straight and I could see you were threatening the inside line up to the chicane. I knew you wouldn't have made it on that line. Squeaky bum time when I turned into that chicane I can tell you.

I got a puncture in turn 5 of the first lap and it put me to last place. I was not happy I can tell you. Had barely abused the curbs and had not been in grass or gravel. And I only did one flying lap on that set with very slow in/out laps during quali.

So I did 16 laps on Primes.

I still enjoyed it immensely. Thanks everyone. Courteous driving from everyone as Spag said.

This series is going to be awesome.

Despite a difficult race, I still really enjoyed racing, which is what this series is about really. 👍

I would like to say that for the first race with this bunch I can tell that I have a home. You guys really know how to race. I just wish I could have done more with you. I got a punture on the first lap managed to get around with out getting to far behind and started to gane on Zeecon_9 then lost connection and that was the end of that. Glad you all had a great race and hope to redeem myself this weekend. Captan your doing a GREAT job keep it up.

good racing last night gents ,dont remember alot about the 1st corner but i think i was 3rd coming out of it ,and then 2nd by turn 5 where i came across douqa who had slowed down because of his puncture but i didnt know this and pulled in behind him thinking someone had called safty car(done this in other championships were lead car becomes safety car if big crash in 1st lap), anyway few laps later found myself in 1st (dont know how)but could see shark 33 catching fast , he just sat behind me for 6 laps keeping the pressure on and making me sweat , he pitted on lap 9/10 and i was pitting on lap 11 , tried to put some quick laps together but shark was waiting for that time and pissed it , cleaver racing
good stuff gents ,maybe bit of pactice in the week

:ALBERT PARK CIRCUIT POST RACE REPORT:

Once again I'd like to start by congratulating everyone on the brilliant race. Clean and fair all around and a pleasure to be on track with you. May the current trend continue 👍

As for this weeks meeting I was really looking forward to it. Melbourne is one of just a few tracks I consider myself to be quite good at, so I atleast expected a better result than last week. Qualifying didnt go as well as it could of, found myself in the gravel at 3 quite a few times brake testing, I kept dropping wheels off track in search of tenths hear and there, and instead of putting in a banker I just went for the smash hit. Should of calmed down looking back but you know what racers are like eh :sly: Qualified 6th which I was happy with in the end. Didnt get into the groove as quick as I thought but I was on the third row and poised!

The first corner is always a hairy affair and I wasnt about to repeat my mistake of last week. I made sure I was on the brakes early and I managed to follow the lead trio around the outside of a pirouetting pair of F1 cars. Feeling lucky I made my break and lined up my next target. I thought if I had any chance to be on the podium this week I had to try and get ahead early. Steaming down the short straight from 2 I made an opertunistic pass on the brakes to take 3rd. I could see 2nd place just in the distance so I stepped on it trying to catch up. Hadnt expected to catch so soon however  Just a few corners later and I almost drove straight up the chuff of a limping douqa through 10. I didnt know what was happening at this point so I took to the outside and dragged myself into first place. All I had to do now was bring it home!

Lap 2. Haha, not three corners in and I'd reached my achilles heal. That dreaded turn 3 gravel trap! Argh!! :ouch: In one swift mistake I went from 1st to 4th. Beached and slightly angry with myself I tried to pull my car out as quick as possible. Thankfully, maybe, I regained on track just ahead of stevi. I passed someone who'd managed to plant themselves in the wall at 4 as well so was promptly back where I was the lap previous in 3rd.

From here on in it was a battle of attrition between me and Stevi. He managed to keep a constant margain behind me and so the pressure was piling. Lap 3 and I almost dropped it into turn 9. Bringing Stevi right on my tail and trying to hound me into submission. I made enough silly mistakes to let him get close and at the end of lap 3 he gave me a love tap in my behind :embarrassed: but he let me back past so all was well. Lap 4 and still trying to stay ahead, when just after turn 7 a message flashed up on the bottom of my screen. I thought 'I'll read it on the straight so I dont mess up', and then promptly missed my braking spot and handed 3rd over to stevi :grumpy: Lap 5 and i was on a mission to catch back up! A great lap 5, followed by a solid lap 6 saw me right back on the exhaust of stevi after he'd obviously made a mistake or two. Still chasing him down i got great drive out of turn 12 and rode the slipstream before a late braking manouvere into 13. I took a really tight line through the corner just incase stevi was going to make a counter attack, but I managed to keep track position for the final section. Shortly after I made a customary mistake checking behind me and then proceeded to miss my braking point. Needless to say I dropped a position.

Entered the pits on the same lap. At this point I realised my mistake in putting on another set of options!! Sigh. Decided to take advantage of the grip and go on the attack again until nearer the end of the race. I cant remember much after the pit stop to be honest. Me and stevi came out pretty close from the stop but I cant remember if I took the position back or just put in some fast laps till the end. However it wasnt all smooth sailing.....

:ALBERT PARK CIRCUIT ONBOARD OPENING STINT:

.... You'll notice in the video that there is still a minute of footage after the pit stop and fade to black. Basically I recorded this part just to show I'd used both sets of tyres. You dont see all of what happened, but on lap 11 I came back into the pits and put on primes. At the end of lap 11, literally a metre or two past the pit entry on the start and finish I got a puncture!!! :banghead: I had to limp around a whole lap with three wheel on my wagon! Note the 2:19 lap time! :irked: What happeded next I couldnt quite believe. On the same lap that I put on my fourth set of tyres, 9 corners in and I get another flaming puncture! At this point its all you can do to not cry, so I just chuckled to myself. Watch the video and share in my misery! So there we have it, started 6th, pitted 4 times and finished 7th. All in all, I guess it could of been worse

Thanks again for the good clean fun guys. And with this, the post race report for Melbourne is concluded 👍 Dont forget to check the opening post for new race schedules and championship standings! Please also note the time has changed back to GMT. For anyone in the UK just ask if you're unsure and we'll all do our best to help 👍

:CHAMPIONSHIP FEEDBACK:

A couple of things I wanted everyone to talk about this week. Number one is the puncture issue. I think we've all felt the pain of having a seemingly random puncture now, but I am still reluctant in turning damage off. I know this week one of us suffered a damaged nose cone and stratergy comes into play as to how you're going to deal with that. No damage at all in my opinion wouldnt be right. Also it was very unfortunate that Junky couldnt continue to race with us because of a connection problem. The week before it was D34NO.

My questions are these.

  • With the recent news that the long awaited patch is almost upon us, who here would consider restarting the championship with the patch in place and damage set to full?
  • Alternatively who here would prefer to continue the championship as is and just pick up the patch as and when its available, all the while leaving damage set to full?
  • Finally on this matter who here would like me to turn damage off, resulting in no punctures but also no penatly for driving like a loon?

  • Also, should somebody suffer a connection error within the first 30% of the race, who would be willing to have the race restarted?

In other news, it seems DonkeyFuzz will not be coming back to the series and so a position has become available and I wondered if any of you guys knew someone who might be interested. Clean and fair drivers is a must, I will otherwise have to just put out a role call.

Thank you.

.

I would like to be added to some kind of reserve list so when I'm not busy I might be able to fill in if you don’t have enough to make a full grid.
