Formula One 6th World Championship [2010 Edition]F1 2010-2016

I'm happy to stay as it is and wait for the patch.
Brings the aliens back down to earth as it were.

I'm ok with restarting due to connection issues too.

As always I'm happy to go along with the majority.

Are Christmas breaks to be applied?

Oh and keep up the good work captain.

I think the patch is still going to be a few weeks to a month away yet, so I would say we'll just keep going as is, and just leave the damage on.

I would however not be in favour of restarting the race if someone has a connection problem.
Its not right for the people who get a good clean start gaining several places off the grid, to then be told the race has to be restarted because someone has a connection issue.

Not saying anyone would do it either, but the system would be open to abuse, if someone got a bad start, puncture, hit a wall, anything in the first 30%, to disconnect their internet and claim connection issues.

Looks like you had a good race guys, sorry I missed it, but I will be back for Sepang.

:ALBERT PARK CIRCUIT POST RACE REPORT:

Once again I'd like to start by congratulating everyone on the brilliant race. Clean and fair all around and a pleasure to be on track with you. May the current trend continue 👍

As for this weeks meeting I was really looking forward to it. Melbourne is one of just a few tracks I consider myself to be quite good at, so I atleast expected a better result than last week. Qualifying didnt go as well as it could of, found myself in the gravel at 3 quite a few times brake testing, I kept dropping wheels off track in search of tenths hear and there, and instead of putting in a banker I just went for the smash hit. Should of calmed down looking back but you know what racers are like eh :sly: Qualified 6th which I was happy with in the end. Didnt get into the groove as quick as I thought but I was on the third row and poised!

The first corner is always a hairy affair and I wasnt about to repeat my mistake of last week. I made sure I was on the brakes early and I managed to follow the lead trio around the outside of a pirouetting pair of F1 cars. Feeling lucky I made my break and lined up my next target. I thought if I had any chance to be on the podium this week I had to try and get ahead early. Steaming down the short straight from 2 I made an opertunistic pass on the brakes to take 3rd. I could see 2nd place just in the distance so I stepped on it trying to catch up. Hadnt expected to catch so soon however  Just a few corners later and I almost drove straight up the chuff of a limping douqa through 10. I didnt know what was happening at this point so I took to the outside and dragged myself into first place. All I had to do now was bring it home!

Lap 2. Haha, not three corners in and I'd reached my achilles heal. That dreaded turn 3 gravel trap! Argh!! :ouch: In one swift mistake I went from 1st to 4th. Beached and slightly angry with myself I tried to pull my car out as quick as possible. Thankfully, maybe, I regained on track just ahead of stevi. I passed someone who'd managed to plant themselves in the wall at 4 as well so was promptly back where I was the lap previous in 3rd.

From here on in it was a battle of attrition between me and Stevi. He managed to keep a constant margain behind me and so the pressure was piling. Lap 3 and I almost dropped it into turn 9. Bringing Stevi right on my tail and trying to hound me into submission. I made enough silly mistakes to let him get close and at the end of lap 3 he gave me a love tap in my behind :embarrassed: but he let me back past so all was well. Lap 4 and still trying to stay ahead, when just after turn 7 a message flashed up on the bottom of my screen. I thought 'I'll read it on the straight so I dont mess up', and then promptly missed my braking spot and handed 3rd over to stevi :grumpy: Lap 5 and i was on a mission to catch back up! A great lap 5, followed by a solid lap 6 saw me right back on the exhaust of stevi after he'd obviously made a mistake or two. Still chasing him down i got great drive out of turn 12 and rode the slipstream before a late braking manouvere into 13. I took a really tight line through the corner just incase stevi was going to make a counter attack, but I managed to keep track position for the final section. Shortly after I made a customary mistake checking behind me and then proceeded to miss my braking point. Needless to say I dropped a position.

Entered the pits on the same lap. At this point I realised my mistake in putting on another set of options!! Sigh. Decided to take advantage of the grip and go on the attack again until nearer the end of the race. I cant remember much after the pit stop to be honest. Me and stevi came out pretty close from the stop but I cant remember if I took the position back or just put in some fast laps till the end. However it wasnt all smooth sailing.....

:ALBERT PARK CIRCUIT ONBOARD OPENING STINT:

.... You'll notice in the video that there is still a minute of footage after the pit stop and fade to black. Basically I recorded this part just to show I'd used both sets of tyres. You dont see all of what happened, but on lap 11 I came back into the pits and put on primes. At the end of lap 11, literally a metre or two past the pit entry on the start and finish I got a puncture!!! :banghead: I had to limp around a whole lap with three wheel on my wagon! Note the 2:19 lap time! :irked: What happeded next I couldnt quite believe. On the same lap that I put on my fourth set of tyres, 9 corners in and I get another flaming puncture! At this point its all you can do to not cry, so I just chuckled to myself. Watch the video and share in my misery! So there we have it, started 6th, pitted 4 times and finished 7th. All in all, I guess it could of been worse

Thanks again for the good clean fun guys. And with this, the post race report for Melbourne is concluded 👍 Dont forget to check the opening post for new race schedules and championship standings! Please also note the time has changed back to GMT. For anyone in the UK just ask if you're unsure and we'll all do our best to help 👍

:CHAMPIONSHIP FEEDBACK:

A couple of things I wanted everyone to talk about this week. Number one is the puncture issue. I think we've all felt the pain of having a seemingly random puncture now, but I am still reluctant in turning damage off. I know this week one of us suffered a damaged nose cone and stratergy comes into play as to how you're going to deal with that. No damage at all in my opinion wouldnt be right. Also it was very unfortunate that Junky couldnt continue to race with us because of a connection problem. The week before it was D34NO.

My questions are these.

  • With the recent news that the long awaited patch is almost upon us, who here would consider restarting the championship with the patch in place and damage set to full?
  • Alternatively who here would prefer to continue the championship as is and just pick up the patch as and when its available, all the while leaving damage set to full?
  • Finally on this matter who here would like me to turn damage off, resulting in no punctures but also no penatly for driving like a loon?

  • Also, should somebody suffer a connection error within the first 30% of the race, who would be willing to have the race restarted?

In other news, it seems DonkeyFuzz will not be coming back to the series and so a position has become available and I wondered if any of you guys knew someone who might be interested. Clean and fair drivers is a must, I will otherwise have to just put out a role call.

Thank you.

.

No to all of those suggestions, I don't think that there is need to restart the championship after the patch, we all are in the same situation regarding punctures, we will just have to live with it. That also anwers my view to number 2 and also I agree with lewy on number 3.

I would have really loved to race at Melbourne as its one of my favourite tracks, Looking forward to next race.

Patch is ready:)

restarting the championship
bad idea

first 30% of the race, who would be willing to have the race restarted?
with the quali?
very bad idea

Question #1
Keep the series going with full damage

Question #2
Install patch when it comes available and leave damage set to full. (after all we are trying to simulate real racing)

Question #3
Answered in question 1 & 2

Question #4
The way I see it is that the connection loss in my problem and you the racers should not be punshed for what happens on my end, If a restart is done somebody that was doing well or got lucky my lose that and then everybody is upset and personaly I don't want that. I just want to race and get faster so any time that I spend racing with you guy's even if it's 1 lap or 5 laps is fine with me.

I agree, keep going as is with full damage on untill the patch is released. I am not in favour of restarting a race when someone is DC'ed. It leaves the door open for 'temptation' to exit when things go wrong at the start. As far as restarting the season is concerned, I think it all depends on when the patch is released. If it happens soon, maybe, otherwise continue with the current season

I also agree that we carry on. Even if the patch comes before the next race. Its only 2 races in and they've both been fun despite the punctures. If the patch fixes them its a bonus.

I think the problems with restarts are, as mentioned, the quitting after a bad start and the fact that we cant restart the race without qualifying again.

It would be great if you could restart in private lobbies, we could practice starts before the race and of course restart if someone accidentally lets hell break loose at turn 1.

I think we should do Malaysia next week instead of this week, due to the fact it is Halloween night and I for one definately won't be in. Also it would give us more races with the patch.

Thoughts on this?

I would like to be added to some kind of reserve list so when I'm not busy I might be able to fill in if you don’t have enough to make a full grid.

Me too!!!

Unfortunetely I decided at the beginning not to take on reserve drivers. It adds an element of uncertainty that isnt fair on regular participants. It also takes the pressure off of being in attendance too, which isnt good for the championship.

That said there is still a position available for a permanant driver, so either of you are welcome to fill it. Anyone else reading may also apply on a first come first serve basis, but you will only be accepted if Lefty and Oskie decline. Whoever it is that joins us will abide by the strict regulations outlined in the opening post. If you can do that, then you'll have bags of fun just like the rest of us 👍

:FEEDBACK.... FEEDBACK: :D

Well there's no need to quote people here as everyone seems to be in agreement. The championship will continue as is, with the patch being implimented when ready.

As for Jordys question I havent planned to make any adjustments to the schedule with regards to Haloween. Its quite a niche celebration and I would hazard a guess that most competitors will remain available. This is one you may have to miss out on Jordy. Sorry.

And as for Spagetti's question about Christmas, I plan to take a fortnight break so everyone, as you say, can do their own thing. The last race before Christmas will be December 19th 2010. The returning race event will be held on January 9th 2011.

👍

I hate how this game makes us all frustrated lol

Imminent patch is imminent!

Hopefully the biggest issues will be gone forever!! :)

l would like to fill the available drivers spot . Race times are not an issue for me , neither is the car l drive .

Noted 👍

If neither of the guys mentioned above can fill the position, or respond before saturdays end, you will be racing on sunday 👍

I don’t think that you should limit your endeavor to a exclusive club status, every points championship is just a collection of individual races and it is the promoters job to fill the grid and put rears in the chairs. If other drivers know they can compete and can demonstrate that they are capable of following the rules for the race and are not taken advantage of by the promoter as a resource then it diminishes the event by not making the effort to fill the grid. A championship should mean something other then an attendance award.

Thank you.

I will take the seat if its still available. I am currently hosting my own league so i know whats expected when entering one. Clean and fair racer, i certainly am

Thanks

I cant speak for everyone else but I'm more than happy with how the championship has started out. 10 out of 12 drivers in each event is perfectly acceptable, and judging by the posts of people who are actually involved I dont get the feeling the event has been diminished at all.

If you'd driven with us too you'd know its the very least you can do to just show up. There are no awards for lining up on the grid, the competition is fierce from first until last. However thats why it is so important that drivers turn up, your position at the end of the season could come down to just one or two race results.

I feel as though reserve drivers would take a slight amount of pressure of off attending the race. After all, if you could get someone to bring home points for you while sitting in the pub I dare say I'd be partaking in brew most frequently.

I also feel that mixing reserves with regulars is not fair either. For example, what if reserve driver 'Mr A' shows a blatent disregard for the OLR and crashes out one of the main title contendors? Actually, even someone from the middle ground or very bottom, it just isnt fair. On the other side of the coin 'Mr A' may be quite the superstar, taking first place and valuable points away from regular participants too. I dont think anyone would like that either.

I'm not to keen on exploiting people for the sake of just making up the numbers. Sure they would have fun while racing, but I know if I were a reserve I would get bored waiting around every sunday in the hopes that somebody may not show. Where would we be if the reserves started no showing!? Back to square one.

This isnt just a retort with regards to your post either Lefty, its information I havent made clear regarding reserves, now made available to everyone to read and understand. My position on reserves will not change unless the majority of competitors make vocal their disagreement.

I’m sure the way you’re running this meets with your expectations, the only thing that I was trying to get across was something that I had heard from a MOD about how a GT5 league that would be supported by GTP would have to accommodate all comers. I always have looked at any racing series from the racers point of view and remember being turned away from racing my speedway bike because the grid was full versus when I raced Moto-x and cars. Those promoters would make every effort to accommodate everyone who put out the effort to show up. That was what I meant by the “diminishes the event” reference.

Despite having an additional 3 pit stops due to punctures in the two races so far, I am happy to just go ahead with things are they are. The punctures actually make it kind of fun, if a little frustrating.

{edit} My results on the first page appear to be out as I have picked up 10 points in both races. :P

Its slightly unfair to compare the championship with real life experiences. Although I'm sure the speedway organisers faced the same problem I do in that there are only a certain amount of slots on the grid.

I'm doing the best I can to run one champinoship for the maximum amount of participants available to one lobby.

To compare the series with a GTP supported event is a little off kilter too I feel. I have no where near the resources, interest, or help that would be required to accomodate everyone. :boggled:

Sorry about that oversight Stevi. Slight error in my spreadsheet wont happen again ;)

OP updated

Was great battling with you in Melbourne by the way. I'll be looking out for you in Sepang :D

In my rearview

👍

Ey up Captain, Whats with ignoring my post completely? :indiff:

Sorry. Only you quoted my message that said first come first serve, and not more than 3 posts above yours someone already showed an interest. You were beaten to the punch I'm afraid.

That said, if Oskierox doesnt post his interest today, Nitrovious will fill the spot. If Nitrovious cant make it for some reason then you will be next in line.

Hope this helps.

Captain , l sent you a friend request via psn .
l will be online , ready to race tomorrow at 2100 gmt .
l have even been practicing with the Williams , as it looks as though that car was intended for the replacement driver . Unless of course Oskierox steps up to fill the spot .

Guys I have inherited my dads old bluetooth headset so I will be able to voice chat during tonights race.

Right my clocks gone back an hour.
Is it 9pm GMT.

I'm sorry my brain is old.

Edit* Just a thought, not all regions have this patch at present I think.
Will that course complications, a patched game against a non patched game?
