I got this game today, and what a sight for sore eyes, it is! There have not been any good console F1 sims released in the U.S. for quite some time, but this makes the wait worth it! Visually stunning, and it drives very well. My DFP shan't be gathering dust anytime soon :D.

did you test to see if force feedback support was working with your dfp?

Glad to hear you're enjoying the game, it is great isn't it? :D

I'm looking forward to F1:CE 2007 already. I hope that they have added some more 'managerial/behind-the-scenes' stuff like team strategy and planning (Stepney Mode), car development and design (Coughlan Mode), how to handle press intrusion into your life (Hamilton Mode), team-mate relations (Alonso Mode), how to break the rules and get away with it (Hamilton Mode again), how to break the rules and not get away with it (McLaren Mode), how to break the rules and not get away with it but not get any punishment anyway (Williams Mode), and a special unlockable skill feature called "How to put a brave face on things when everything has gone tits-up and you actually want to punch everyone in your team in the face and cry" (Dennis Mode)...

^^^ Thanks for the laugh this morning, that was excellent. 👍

Don't forget "impervious to everything, on and off the track" (Raikkonen Mode).

I must say, one of my favorite features of this game is the parade lap. I've always wanted something like this in racing games: a chance to shake down the car and scope out the track before starting the race. Also, the ability to adjust traction control on the fly means you can do some realistic burn-outs and squiggles on said parade lap, before cranking the TC to 10 for the launch :D.

Tried the demo of F1:CE & was amazed at how poor it is. Apart from anything else the graphics are really pathetic.

Are you guys still playing online? Is it definitely worth getting (bearing in mind GT5:P will/might be arriving soon)?

If you read through this and other threads you'll see that the demo is a very poor representation of the actual game.

Yes.

Yes.

F1:CE and GT5:P are very different games, different cars obviously, different tracks, and different game features.

I think you'll find most like myself who are big fans of F1 games from all platforms agree that F1:CE is easily the best out there. 👍

Most like myself also tend to agree the demo is very poor, but the game is brilliant.

Yeah, I have read thru most of this thread & see how people seem to enjoy F1:CE, but I'm finding it hard to understand how the demo can be SO inferior to the real game.

First off, the demo is so limited it's hard to tell anything about the physics & gameplay + I seem to have some glitch in it. But the thing that immediately struck me was how primitive the graphics were, yet everyone has been praising the game graphics ???

I'm puzzled...

Well I suppose there are a couple of options that come to mind to help you better visualize what we've all been talking about. 1 - you could rent a retail copy (assuming a store in your area has them available for rent). 2 - check out the video review in HD at GameTrailers. Just be aware that the file is some 130MB, so it might take awhile to download. Also IMHO as good as it looks in the review it looks noticeably better on a quality HD display.

Wow, this game is unbelievably realistic! I spent the whole (well 30% distance) Australian Grand Prix stuck behind Jacques Villeneuve and Ralf Schumacher. When I did manage to get past, they both punted me off the track. 🤬 prats :grumpy:.

I'm sure it was their fault! You probably brake too much.

And remember to do Racing evolution. Its works a lot!!!. I was dominating Bahrain, Sepang and Melbourne with the evolution:tup:

I dont know why u all love evolution i just set the car up myself. It works better i think. I got 2nd in bahrain in a SA

But i always set my car up fine without. And its quicker without it. If ur interested we could have a race in a hour? I know though no setup online.

G'day all.

Picked this great game up last week. Just a quick question.

Is there a way to save your car settings? I mean, i don't want to have to do Race Car Evo every time i race on the same track.

Cheers,
Inti

Actually the game automatically saves setups for each track and for each car. If you look closely after making changes, once you back out of the setup modification screen you'll see a little white disc icon flash in the upper right corner of the screen. So that's the game letting you know it is saving your changes. Also this applies to any of the single player/offline modes. However, fyi, the online setups are fixed in stone, are the same for every player and cannot be changed.

Thanks for that. So the next time i race at a track i've previously done i will already have my setup loaded from the last time round. Cool.

Haven't tried online yet but sounds fun.

So I just got this game along with a PS3, HOLY HELL!

I thought I'd have some fun first, so I set up a single race, pretty simple. I'm Kimi at Monza. However for an added twist I kept the weather at varible. So, there I was, letting it load and up pops the grid and what do I see?

Rain.

I remembered how many people have said how realistic the wet weather is this time round so I manned up and prepared to jump in the deep end. I got off the line fine (Started last) and must have been around 15th as we entered the first turn. Now, I let myself into a false sense of security here by not going into the other cars slipstream. We exit the turn and continue our merry way through Turn 3, this is when I decided I'd go into the spray of the car infront. Then... As if like magic... I couldn't see a thing! :scared: Cue me missing my braking point and ending up in the gravel with one wheel elsewhere.

I'm gonna love this game I think..

I think this is one of the most underrated games, this and Folklore.

Have you seen this website: autosimsport.net ? Volume 3 #5 reviews F1:CE as well as Forza 2 - it is very enthusiastic about F1:CE &, in fact, gives it a higher rating than Forza 2.

F1:CE is not for everybody - it's very limited in scope compared to games like GT4 & Forza - but what it does do, it does very well & I think the actual racing is the most fun I've had in any console game.

Congrats for your purchase lee:). You must try Career. Its really awesome:tup:

Yesterday I decided to buy Colin McRae: Dirt, because after viewing all the reviews, images, and damage effects from various sites, it looked amazing. Then I took it home for a quick play before heading out... and it turned out it wasn't as good as I imagined. The damage was brilliant, the graphics looked quite nice... but the physics were absolute rubbish! Honestly, last time I witnessed such an awful handling system was when I played Juiced 2... or even V-rally. It was such a giant let down for me, as I loved all previous Colin McRae games... How could they do that? Anyway, last night I took it back, and switched it for F1: CE for $30 less. :)

Oh, the game is completely awesome! First time I played it, it felt like I was trying to pilot a stealth fighter… the sensation of speed is out of this world, and handling feels very realistic compared to any other previous F1 game (or codemasters game). The graphics look very nice on a HDTV, especially the raindrops that blind your helmet visor as it rains… brilliant!

I haven’t yet started a career mode (too scared), as I need tonnes more practice learning the tracks and steering. I like to turn all driving aids off, and keep it at Medium difficulty (even though I’m coming stone-dead last for every race). Great, challenging game… something I would highly recommend... and much better then Dirt ;)

This game is much better than Dirt, you are right, and I was very let down as I have been a fan of CMR games since the first one on playstation.

Wait until you open up some of the old F1's, like the Lotus. Man those are great. And has been suggested on here already, do yourself a favor and do career.

have fun!

Yeah, Dirt is a bit unconvincing: great graphics, damage etc. but the physics are just too arcady - this was obviously a deliberate choice on their part to position the game closer to something like Motorstorm.

I have been trying to persuade people that F1:CE is a great purchase - it has really impressed me, & I was by no means an F1 fan before playing it.

I enjoyed it. However I guess it is telling that after completing all the races on Pro I haven't gone back to play it more than a handful of times. The most compelling stuff is the rally races.

That is great to hear. This game really deserves alot more respect than it seems to get. So good in fact you just might find yourself paying more attention to the F1 race calendar. It is always cool to watch how the pros handle those same corners in real life.

Yeah, like many members said before is that this game is really underrated and and it's really fun to play:)

The great thing about F1:CE is the terminal damage (even tho it's somewhat limited in its implementation). Combine that with career mode & no restarting & you've got a degree of white-knuckle tension that GT can't match (course it's also a recipe for frustration if things don't go your way... :ouch:)

Yes, I do like the non-restarting policy... makes it more realistic, and encourages people not to drive like complete spanners.

I managed to complete the first race in career mode a few moments ago (Normal difficulty, Bahrain, MF1, driving aids off, 30% race distance), and it ended up to be a very intense race. Eventually, I ended up finishing 9th... results would have been better if J.Button hadn't spun my car around during lap 3. Luckily, my car was not damaged during the race (which was my goal :) ). But geez, I greatly fear the Monaco GP coming up later on in the championship. :nervous:
