Formula One Eni Magyar Nagydij 2011

:grumpy:

Surprised Hamilton didn't get pole, the car was out of control for him. Still think he'll win though....

"Fernando, Filipe is faster then you"

Not again :grumpy: I thought this Vettelmania in qualifying was done. Hamilton and Alonso, come on!!!

Great qualy! Sebastian really had to work for that pole! And Massa getting ahead of Alonso. Kudos! Should be a good one tomorrow!

Well, I must say, Alonso and Hamilton were both up around the same time but ruined their final sectors.

Good lap from Vettel 👍, LH's master plan faltered at the final hurdle.

Alonso must have had a moment in his final sector, he was -0.2s in the 2nd intermediate and then +0.5s at the line. One the bright side, he is on the clean side of the track.

Hopefully Button contributes to a good race up - it would be a shame if he becomes a mobile chicane for the likes of Webber and Alonso behind him in the race. Same applies to Massa :D

What? Thats what I said!

You didnt say that some places don't broadcast it.

In Australia we are lucky to get the qualify.

Most of the time we just get the race.

The only time we got the practice sessions was round 1.

I said not everyone is watching it, i.e not/cant/wont watch it.
I cannot do a internet search of which broadcasters are showing it, then zoom into everyones front room to see whether they are tuned into it or not.
So thats why I said 'not everyone is watching it'.

This track do eats up the tyres... So I think those who can manage their tyres well enough could well be a victor. I'm thinking Button for this race. If it rains, I won't be surprised to see a first time winner on the podium.

Not Alonso's Finest lap but Flipin Felipe has done it  LH should have gotten pole .As always Vettel seems to be 2nd or 3rd best all week end then bam .It was a lap ana a half from him.And we get another 'That is what I am talking about' and a 'Seb Finger'.

Button is my pick for the win if he and lewis hang on in the first stages.

Was hoping Lewis would hold onto the pole.

Hopefully this won't be another "Everyone chases Vettel GP". Last few races have been good with the battle at the front.

Even if Sebastian leads the pack, he should be closely chased by at least 2 or 3 cars, so it will be exciting to watch if Vettel can still run off from the competition and avoid mistakes like the Montreal race where he was under pressure.
Gonna be a dandy of a race coming up tomorrow!

Unless Button gets a mighty start he'll get crowded out at turn 1. He's like me online in GT5, he has the 'after you' mentality, he's afraid to cause a collision so others will just bully their way past as he backs out.

Some would say that, and some would say he is just a wise driver not to throw away points with uneccessary contact. Sometimes its not all about defending your position every corner, defending loses you time to whoever else is around.
Kobayashi has the same approach - he more often than not concedes positions to cars that are far, far faster and doesn't waste time trying to defend from the inevitable. But when he is on pace or faster, he will defend as hard as anyone.
Its not neccessarily being afraid, but a different approach to racing.

Anyway, this is a very long run to the first corner and therefore plenty of time for the McLarens or Ferraris to jump Vettel. Vettel isn't always a reliable starter and Alonso and Hamilton have had some pretty amazing starts this year.

The teams appear to be predicting high degradation for tyres so its all to play for it seems.

Should be a good race. Also nice to see Lotus very very close to Q2 and Trulli finally on pace with Kovalainen and happy with the car. Ricciardo also only a tenth off Liuzzi is very commendable. Lets also see what the easy-on-their-tyres Saubers do from 10th and 13th.

It occurs to me as I watch qualifying that the 107% rule isn't quite apples to apples. The frontrunners setting the times are usually (unless Massa needs help) on the harder, slower compound, but the backmarkets are usually on the softer, grippier one. If the comparison of the frontrunners to the backmarkers was on the same tire, then HRT & co. would really be outside the 107% cutoff...

Exactly. Kobayashi's consistency has been amazing this season. Before the start of the season, his goal was for points at every race. He has achieved this in all but three Grand Prix this season. Of the three he didn't score points, one was due to disqualification due to a slight technical infringement on the car and one was due to a failure on his car. The last of the three failures to score points was just a difficult weekend. His consistency is almost as good as Vettel's.

I hope the team principals are taking note of his achievements. If he can handle the pressure of a top team, then we will finally have a Japanese winner in F1. On an off topic, my girlfriend is Japanese (although I have been a fan of his since before I even met my girlfriend), I hope to make the trip to Suzuka next season and am planning on visiting Amagasaki if I can track down Kobayashi's father's Sushi restaurant.

With qualifying as close as that, I desperately want a 6-way fight for the lead for most of the race, with Vettel winning, obviously. :D
