Weee-hay-hay-hay-llllll, I'll be!

Why T10, you seem to be back to ticking all the right check boxes again!

Any need for the season pass if you're getting the GOYT edition?
The GOTY edition only comes with the Top Gear pack. So if you want the rest then yes you'd need the season pass.

60 for the game, if its new. I think the season pass is way more then 5 bucks though haha

Yeah, I was originally going to get the one without the kinect but decided against it since the kinect bundle came with fm5 for free. For $104 for a defective Xbox, my network adaptor, and Diablo 3. So really all I payed was about $450~ since the game was free.

Uhh, your X1 was defective?

This is my biggest excuse:

And it even has the Forza badge on it for crying out loud

I hear you. I had the same internal conflict but I sold my fanatec wheel on CL and got the Thrustmaster wheel. I am happy for another 5 years :-)

"FM5 is a Major Disappointment" - Perhaps. Depends on how high your expectations were.

"Will DLC save it?" - I hadn't played FM5 for a couple of weeks until the Nordschleife got released, along with an amazing car pack. So yes, I suppose. It did it for me.

Does it have one? An H-pattern, I mean. I have the CSR Elite, so I'm looking for a wheel for the xbone which at least has 3 pedals. Haven't heard of one yet.

They are releasing one this summer, it will be called the TH8A; it will be both 8 speed H-pattern with a sequential mode. Well, according to their TX page on their official website. On PC it is possible to use the TH8RS shifter, as it is a stand alone USB device. So any game that accepts more than one USB control input, you can use that shifter; it just wont work in forza 5. There is an unused PS/2 style port on the back of the TX wheel base, I am assuming this is where the new shifter will plug into. Someone tried the fanatec shifters using that port, they didn't work though.

Also, Thrustmaster have just released the T3PA pedal set; which has all 3 pedals. They are not as fancy as the T500RS pedals (which work on the TX wheel base by the way), but they look like they will be fairly good. Possible on par with the cheapest fanatec pedals. There is a 3rd party adaptor out that allows the use of fanatec pedals on the TX wheel base, and it works with all fanatec pedals. There is information on it over on the inside sim racing forums, as the person who made it was posting over there.

Also, the adaptor is made by basher boards; they should have some in stock by friday the 20th of june.

Thanks a lot for the info. Glad to hear that there's an H-Pattern on the way, however, I'm not too big of a fan of the Ferrari Wheel. Luckily, there's that GTE add-on wheel that they sell. Says it works for the TX base, so that's a plus.

My only other question is this: Do you guys think there will be a multi-platform wheel available soon? I loved my CSR Elite, which is now only being used for PC and PS3 (GT6)
I know that I'll be buying GT7 for the PS4 when it comes out (and maybe even DriveClub) but I don't want to have to buy 2 separate wheels for each console.

Any word on a multi-platform wheel in the works? If anyone knows and would like to share that information, I'd be very delighted.

There is no for sure news but Fanatec acts like they're going to be making some new wheels soon. I really don't think Thrustmaster will beings they just announced an official PS4 wheel.

From what I keep hearing, Microsoft and Fanatec had a falling out when Fanatec made the auto clutch firmware. A mod on the forza forums stated it about a week ago, but I have heard it in other places as well.

What's the auto clutch firmware?
Haven't heard of it until now.

Have you guys heard of this?
Suppose to make the controllers from any console work cross-platform. It wont work on the PS4 yet, but you can use a PS4 controller on PC, 360 and XBox One with this, and the other ones on other consoles. I believe Inside Sim Racing was asking if they'd eventually work on wheels...I hope.

The auto-clutch was something Fanatec updated their wheels with so when you were using paddle shifters it automatically clutched without using a button. :)

Ah, thanks for the clarification!
Am I suppose to be upset about that? Haha, not sure if that's a good or a bad thing. Sounds like a good thing, I suppose.

I have heard of that device (and others), and had a wonderful discussion with xbox support over it as well. I was curious about its safe use on the X1, and because I wanted a fanatec over the TX before I got the TX (programmable options on the fanatec wheel itself, big win!). They told me that they will ban a user from xbox live, and their console as well; if they know one is been used. A big issue is that they can be used for cheating within fighting games, this is done by setting up macros. This allows a single button press to set off a combo chain, if programmed correctly of course. They can use be used for rapid fire in shooting games, as well as some of these types of devices allowing a keyboard/mouse combination to be used on the xbox platform for use in gaming as well. This unlevels the playing field, and is something microsoft have always taken a very strict view on with the xbox platform. This is most likely why that whole fanatec auto-clutch thing is highly probable, as it is quicker than using manual w/clutch manually. The other aspect, is the fact it circumvents the security chips used in all official controllers. It does this by having you use any official xbox controller first, which allows the device to give the xbox a handshake so to speak. Then you can use any USB based peripheral you like. With that device, it is highly unlikely you would have force feedback. ANd all it will really do, is emulate movement of the thumbstick and triggers for a steering wheel. I would say to anyone thinking about a device like that, to just save your money and buy something officially support and endorsed by Microsoft. It will work far better, and you wont run the risk of getting banned from xbox live; and having a shiny brick.

We just talked about it on another thread. It doesn't provide force feedback on the wheel so seems like a waste of time anyway.

The Thrustmaster pedals are now available in the US!

Hopefully the shifter isn't too far behind.
Man I wish I can get this. Its not the price thats stopping me, more so that I dont think I have enough room in my studio haha.

I'm at work and I dont have much time to scroll around and whatnot, but what is the current wheel for Xbox one that would be worthwhile?

The Thrustmaster TX, no question. The madcatz wheel keeps getting delayed, and it has lap mountings...... I have serious doubts with that one. And the THrustmaster F458 Spider wheel is only 270DOR, with no force feedback, and a bungie cord system for wheel centring/resistance.The TX is the only way to go for the X1 for the time being, and for the foreseeable future. Plus the TX works on pc as well, so if you have a good enough pc; that opens up a ton more racing simulations for one to enjoy.

If you like to call people ignorant, i'd suggest you start by looking in the mirror if you can't seem to realize this was an attempt to restrict the second hand market, and stop people selling their physical disks to eachother. The arguments of "but you can share them digitally with a friend" or MS would have given you the possibility to still sell it at dedicated stores under this and those conditions, is just sugarcoating it.

Open your eyes.

How right you are.
Open thou noodle as well.
Its about power and control. MS rarely giveths, but they will surely taketh away.

I owned both prior XB consoles along with all the Forza installments, 1-4.
I have been on the sidelines so far concerning XBone and Forza5.
My sentiments are much the same as your prior post here.
At this point I have just about concluded that for me, the buy on a XBone and Forza5 is probably about 5 yrs from now when I can pickup a refurb console and the game for about $100. Not to mention there should be a substantial library of discounted used games to choose from.
On the other hand, I haven't bought a PS4 either.
Perhaps Pcars and future news of GT7 will entice me quicker there.
Ten years ago I don't think, I could have imagined making a post such as this.

Luckily there's Grid AS which will keep me busy this year so in no hurry at all. We just wait out PS4 wheel compatibility and decide in a year or two what is the best way to play next gen. And your tactic with the Xbone is a good one, i'm not gonna buy it neither because of their politics (also with the wheels), and maybe pick up one like yourself from a future bargain shelve as FM is still a great car collecting and racing game.

Yeah, I am currently playing GAS too, on my 360.
