Yeah really enjoying some cars, yet a few you think should be great turn out to be a letdown.
Finding the subwoofers behind my seat really help enhance some of the engines

I added the race exhaust to the Ford Raptor as was suggested above and darn great low end rumble tones to the engine even around the 2000 rpm mark.

Aventador is still one of the more exciting sounding cars Ive driven so far.

The Ford Raptor 2017 is wrong. Should be a 6 cylinder sound sample; not a V8. And changing the exhausts in any Forza game (FH3 included) makes no difference at all on the sound.

Agree on the Aventador. They got the sound spot on. The Diablo and Countach sound pretty good too.

Another car that deserves some recognition is the Lotus Esprit. They got the sound just right. Flatplane how it should be, yet not too Ferrari-ish, and not too crossplane-ish either. Just Lotus V8 right.

Best sounding car for me this far is the Lamborghini Aventador SV. The thing screams in the high revs like some kind of old F1 car.:D
It's pretty good, but as another member pointed out, it's a little off. The sound is pretty spot on, it's just a bit computerized & neutered; I usually turn the volume up just to hear it better which in turn makes the backfire sound super loud unfortunately. Hearing one in person, it's a lot more "violent" & has this bark/growl the exhaust produces during gear changes (usually more pronounced on upshifts).

Still, one of my favorite cars to drive. I'm excited for it in FM7.

This game sets high standards. I'm both happy with the sounds overall and disappointed with the flaws I've found so far. It's hit and miss really, bought the McLaren F1 with the expansion discount and had complete trust it would sound decent... sold it at auction a day later.

Ooooh, I can never get enough of those backfires and the overrun sounds.

Specialy on the... Alfa 8C, my pride and love, bought on the auction house for little as 50.000 Cr.

The Alfa 8C is my "go to" car for cruising. I just love the sound. I paid a bit more than you - 180,000 or so in the auction house - but it beats paying the full 300,000 price.

Another bit I found... the Merc SLK 55 AMG and Alfa 8C Competizione sound exactly the same.

This, 8C has an amazing sound but it's from the AMGs. It even has the 6.2 V8 available as a swap and that sounds identical... maybe it's intended to have its own sound like before, but I doubt it'll get fixed on this game.

I'm worried the GranTurismo S got messed up too, still waiting to win it or find a cheap offer. :scared:

The Huracán got rather weird. In Horizon 2 it had at least a resemblance of crackling when you lift off, but instead of giving it a complete proper voice like the V12s, now it has a weird new mix with no off throttle noise at all. It's lame, like driving the car in Strada mode. Then I took the Horizon Edition for a spin yesterday and was equally surprised by the allignment (proper offset? spacers?! :dopey:) as well as the fact it sounds quiet different and has FH2's slight crackling resemblance! Thankfully it's not another HE that comes with the Aventador V12, but compared to the standard car it sounds like an engine swap.

I'd been keen to go and test this. The Esprit got proper stitched up in FH2, not so much with the sound itself but how it was so obviously looped, like they took an uneven bit of audio instead of a more steady sample.

Agreed - some great sounds in the game. Pure gold. Off-throttle sounds should be addressed. Very weak on some cars.

Post-update I don't think they've addressed the Supra sound. Sounds too much like an angry M4, with stock exhaust and cams too.

I tried online yesterday forgot to get a car so Forza gavee a Infiniti I believe it was a q60 sounded pretty good.

So has anyone ever heard the real thing at all? Can't find any really decent audio of it so I'm wondering how it compares.

I'm not sure how the thing sounds IRL, but based on other games I've driven this car in, including NFS, it sounds rather good. I think I'm giving Horizon 1 a revisit soon - it took the best of FM4 and really improved on the car sounds (minus the volume aspect on some cars of course). Good, clean samples all in all.

I want to point out that the Ferrari 458 sounds really identical to the real thing. Audi R8 and Huracan are about the same. C63 AMG Black Series is spot on, and the Aventador LP700-4 is close too. Im mainly buying cars that sound like the real deal so it'll be a lot more fun to drive around. Even E46 M3 is pretty close. Wish they had the E39 M5 and that godlike V10 scream from the E60 M5.

Really dissapointed about the 4 rotor sound.:(:(

I generally think there's too much off-throttle noise with most of the rotary sounds, but especially with the 4-rotor.

Sweetest of the bunch would have to be the Cosmo imo.

And ironically, a number of cars sound like they are about to stall on off-throttle. Reminds me of Grid Autosport. :irked:

Anybody here think the exhaust flames looked better in Horizon 2? They were nice and varied depending on what speeds you downshift or go off-throttle.
I never really noticed how they look. I only really notice exhaust pops when they are noisy lol

If you add a positive supercharger on the Diablo, it makes it have a really high pitched whine. Kinda eats at my ears lol.

Also the engine note sounds like a slightly subdued LFA.

The F-Type R is still totally wrong. When the Project 7 in FM6 had a better sounding sample with some kind of signature F-Type sound, I'm not sure why it's still wrong with the coupe after three different games.

I was so disappointed with the F-Type R sound :(

What do you actually mean by that? As in there's no sound or the revs drop too quickly?

As in you don't hear the engine whining or the exhaust rumbling when you go off-throttle. These cars IRL are as loud on lift-off throttle as they are on on-throttle. H2 and FM6 did the off throttle sounds nicely, but they have gone missing on a number of cars in H3: both the new GTRs, NSXs, M4 etc.

Everyone drive the XR2 fiesta right now. Sounds sweet.

Honestly, one of the best sounds in FH3 imho.

It just sound like a little old engine. Don't know if it's accurate but its what I expected. Got two of them, one is a rusty beater and I love abusing it in all ways possible.

The F-Type R? There's none of the engineered signature sound, it just uses a generic V8 sound sample. I've just got the Horizon Edition Project 7 and that sounds closer to what the Coupe should be.

Thoughts on the Maserati Gran Turismo, seen some say in other forums it was quite authentic?

Request:
What about the best sounding cars added to the first comment?

I got the Maserati now and it makes pleasant noise. Not as insane as NFS Most Wanted did it, but realistic and good enough. I think it wasn't changed from Horizon 2?
