I agree. The ratio of Ferraris-to-front-wheel-drive-cars is even higher than FH3 (there are actually more Ferraris than front wheel drive cars). Some may love this. I don't.

I think it's funny that the popular refrain for supercars in real life of 'you can only explore their limits on a race track' actually applies to FH4. I cannot drive something like a Koenigsegg One:1 in FH4 for more than a few seconds at it's limits without crashing.... you can't even fictionally explore their limits on a road with bumps, camber changes, trees, other motorists, etc.:lol: It's just way too much. But more than that the difficulty of driving them, you can't even really appreciate things like balance or handling. You just manage traction & downforce as well as you can to pulverize the distance between you and where you are trying to go. I suppose the challenge is fun for some, but I find it tedious and unrewarding.

In contrast, when I'm driving my completely stock KPGC10 Nissan Skyline, there is this beautiful feeling of using the mass of the car and it's extremely low grip levels to sway the car through corners. You have to string along corners in these long elegant slides where you are never really going straight, but you are also not turning to the rear tires into anti-matter. If you get too sideways you lose speed, and the Skyline's meager power output means that you lose quite a bit of time. So finding that balance is quite rewarding. Then I hop in my Lancia Fulvia and it's somewhat similar but you are constantly trying to use the momentum of the car to get the rear to rotate because applying throttle mid corner will force the little FWD nose to push wide, especially on dirt.

It's funny, just about the fastest car I drive in the game often is the Opel Manta. And even that car (with it's HUGE output of 275hp) I tend to think, 'nah that car is way too fast for this circuit.'

FWD cars are almost useless in FH3 due to it being a power-biased game and lacking in technical roads. The game just doesn't suit them. Which is not a good thing, of course.

As for FH4, nobody is forcing you to drive flat out at all times. The 1973 Skyline is slow so you have to always push it very hard to get to places, which is not the case with an S1 class and above.

Personally, I find that the finer details of car handling can be experienced up to S1 and maybe some S2. The S2 class itself, however, doesn't lend itself to appreciating the originality of the cars. Most of them need to be pushed way too hard to reach the top, whether it's with power, conversions, aero...

And, due to the nature of the game, I find myself doing the opposite, that is, speeding up cars, since the whole game pushes you to drive fast. I once took a stock Beetle to a track and ironically it was way more fun to race it than to drive it around on the map due to the elevations being too much for it.

This is a problem that Forza has always had, but it is a shame that they always neglect the cars of the 1980s.
The FM7 race cars have added some of these cars, but the production cars are very few.

The remastered car is relatively varied, as most cars in the FM4 era are. But, they tend to mainly add the latest cars and pre-1970 cars, and I'm getting tired of these...
I would like to see cars in the Forza, like Nissan Z31, Dome Zero, AMC Eagle SX4 Coupe, Renault Super 5 GT Turbo.

That's all well and good, and mostly I agree with you. I'd love more obscure cars from the 80's, 90's, 00's and the like. More variety is always good.

But we all know what large portions of the fanbase request.

At the end of the day, with the rate they add cars in Forza is never ever going to be enough to satisfy all enthuiasts wishes.

This is actually a good thing for T10/PG as there's not really going to be a time in the near future when they "run out" of cars to add.

But for us, it just means we are forever wishlisting cars that have a very small to 0% chance of ever making the game.

Well, they did add Oliver, didn't they? That was unexpected.

Can someone in short tell me what is this game about? I'm not trolling, I'm in between jobs and have some spare time and don't know if I should get ps4 or xbox.. I'm not a gamer, I play only racing/car games..

For all its flaws, FH4 is probably still the best contemporary racing game that doesn't take place on real life circuits. You get given a car, do some races, make money, upgrade your car or buy a new one (doesn't really matter as the game will usually balance to whatever you're driving), etc. until you get bored because there isn't much of an endgame. There's other stuff to do, it has a drop in/drop out multiplayer free roam thing, it's an open world game and basically if you look it up on YouTube you'll probably get a good idea of what it's like.

Oh, ok, that's exactly type of answer I was looking for.. It's kind of cool but there's no real challenge in the game..
I'm looking to find something that's difficult/challenging .. I saw also that in FM7 online races are not really as clean as in GTS . So I guess I got my answer... Thank you mate..

It kind of reminds me of test drive unlimited.. I played this years ago.. Didn't reall like it

It's kind of cool but there's no real challenge in the game..

Depends what you mean, there are time trial leaderboards (Rivals mode), an online PvP league thing I haven't touched and the AI has two difficulty levels I can't consistently beat, so there is some challenge.

But if you want good online PvP racing on a console you're going to struggle to beat GTS, from what I've heard. Due to its nature - trying to cater for everyone - you get all sorts in FH4.

Yep, but there is no fun in driving a slow car when the lanes are too wide...

While I agree with your sentiment generally, I do feel like FH4 blows it's predecessors (especially 3) out of the water in terms of variety of roads. The roads are still too wide, but there are a lot more corners, elevation change, and yes, narrow dirt lanes in 4. It's the closest any Horizon game has come to providing a realistic & engaging environment. The other 3 felt strangely artificial & static. While I really enjoyed slower cars on Blizzard Mountain in 3, I find myself driving them all the time in 4.

Downloading update. What is it?
Something terrible.

Honestly, not sure. I thought the update was supposed to be on Thursday and include the Goliath glitch and such?

Have basically stopped playing after the announcement of having to 100% everything. Honestly thinking of canceling my game pass, only reason I haven't yet is because my brother bought me the Ultimate Edition upgrade less than a month ago.

+Edit

Oh, it's the big update...

+Edit2
Oh sweet Jesus, it's 3GB for me.

I haven't been in the loop really since I just got the game a few weeks ago. Has PG been updating/patching sounds? Some of the cars have extremely inaccurate or otherwise just poor audio. Hoping it's something they are continuing to work on.

Not that I'm aware of? At least there's no mention in the patch notes.

Wew. Goliath glitch patched and Mixer nerfed.
  • Conditions for awarding influence from Mixer have been changed to favor active gameplay streams
  • Fixed a Credits exploit when switching race type during Route Blueprint creation
Edit: Actually that doesn't sound like how to Goliath glitch works? Can anyone confirm if it has been patched or not yet?

The Goliath Glitch works by going into a race then backing out at the car selection then selecting another race and the host gets the first race and everyone else gets the second race.

I would say this patches it.

Any details on the Mixer nerf? Does this mean you need more viewers or does it mean you actually have to do things to get points?

I'm pretty sure it's the latter. The FH4 section on mixer is mostly influence farm streams...

Which wasn't a bad thing, as there was some chat interaction and even occasional gameplay, but the people doing it were usually running powerful PCs 24/7 and weren't that numerous. This change hurts the viewers more than the streamers.

Playground has embraced the MMORPG aspect of the game. Therefore, Play Anywhere is just an invitation for people to find ways to abuse the game. How I wish Microsoft wasn't doing that, bringing the PC filth to consoles and stopping us from blocking them...

I wonder what PG thought would happen when they provided an easy way for players to progress the game without actually playing the game.

You gain levels on Mixer. Actual progress through the game requires... more than that.

Much more, I'd say.
